Went out of Marina Del Rey for some bottom Rockfish fishing in about 160' of water. Weather was rain/misting all morning but calm waters otherwise. Fishing for Memories
The bite started slow until I hooked into a large Sandbass after not even realizing I was on it. Story of the day though was my son, who decided all on his own to use the Red Crab that the Sandbass spit out when it came up for bait and he hooked into a Lingcod in SMB!!! Super proud dad here!!! All of this was captured on video, really cool sequence of events!! Ended the day with about a dozen Whitefish and few Rockfish.

Are lingcods hard to find in that area?

They aren't so common in the Santa Monica Bay. People have their secret honey holes that they know about but those are few and far between.
