@@hugomartinez6251 Now, that’s a good question. Back in the early eighties very few were analyzing football. Maybe one cable TV weekly show. Nobody was paying too much attention to the Niners. They started the season 1-2. And then they continued to quietly win each game. Except one. They lost a late season home game against the Cleveland Browns. Ray Wershing kicked 5 field goals. Coach Bill Walsh said after that game that they were going to be more aggressive in the red zone. They never looked back. The NFC championship game was uncharacteristic of how the Niners played that season. Montana threw several interceptions and kept Dallas in the game. Of course, the famous Montana to Dwight Clark put the Niners ahead late in the fourth quarter. Dallas almost pulled off a miracle comeback themselves, but the Niners defense made a game saving tackle. And then off to the Super Bowl where the Niner defense was stellar and they beat the Bengals. Joe was the MVP, but it wasn’t like he had a big game. It was mostly by default.
Joe’s best Super Bowl was several years later where Jerry Rice was selected MVP. The irony.
@@hugomartinez6251 So, to really answer your question, Montana was never doubted. But people didn’t realize how good he was until the Niners were the dominant team of the 90s. And Joe was the man! Cool 😎 and calm (on appearance). Brock totally reminds me of Joe, especially when he walks up to the center. Just his body language.
Brock is a fine example of what good looks like. Wishing you nothing but continued success and happiness.

I'd say this even if Brock wasn't playing for the Niners, he's just a really nice humble guy. I hope the NFL trappings don't jade him and that he keeps it as real and as humble as he does at this point in his life. Shout out to his parents for raising their boy right! Keep up the good work Brock.

Its cool he is the same humble and respectable young man we saw at Iowa State that is the same with the 49ers. He wasn't surrounded with a lot of talent like he has now but he was always a gamer that would put the team on his back when he had to and its been fun to see what he can do with good weapons and a solid O-line and a good defense too. There was quite a few times at ISU he had to run for his life or had to make a play, we always worried he would get hurt having to do so much each game. It's been fun to watch the Niners Gang.. Go 49ers!

He's the biggest steal in the history of NFL. After the terrible depths where we were, it is good to be a 9ers fan now and to see that such a team has been created and that such a guy is at the leader of this team and we can see such a high level of football from him and them. As Purdy and the rest would say "It's a blessing."
Thank you for this interview. I live in Iowa and a Hawkeyes fan so I don't pay much attention to ISU but the more I hear and learn about Brock, the more I support and root for his success, not just on the field, but in life as a whole. Everyone loved an underdog story and hopefully, it's one for the ages.

The most terrifying thing Brock said in the entire interview was that he was WAY more nervous about proposing to his now fiancee than about playing in the NFL. In other words, he'd rather be chased by 260-320 pound men running at him full speed, than to get down on one knee and ask his lady to marry him. Yeah... that should put fear into EVERYBODY that plays this cat 😎

I’ve been a 49er fan for 43 years. The team so badly needed a good QB for so long, I got pretty invested in Trey Lance, once the team made that big move to draft him. Given his draft position, Purdy was honestly an afterthought to me, initially. I was skeptical even after last season-just because of the injury to his arm-but I know when I’m wrong and can own it. This guy is a superstar. Clearly the franchise QB for the foreseeable future. We tend to focus on height, weight, 40-time, and arm strength, but Purdy’s intangibles-pocket presence, vision, anticipation, timing, etc-are elite. Such a great pick and great story. The best is yet to come!
Plus he's Mr. Irrelevant picked last in the 2022 draft so he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder to prove his worth on the football field
