I love how at 7:28 Patrick started playing the Pokemon Center theme, and then Jon immediately caught on and started harmonizing it.

I was hearing those trumpets absolutely blasting and thinking? Whut? Who is capable of this sorcery?
Then I saw Josh Gawel was one of the trumpet players and that explained everything

I had been playing with Josh since we were in high school, he and Ryan DeWeese both set unrealistic expectations for lead trumpet in all of my music... 😂 These were some of the first big band charts I had ever written and they made it sound so easy!!

Song of Storms and PokeCenter references in one tune? I'm so glad my director just bought this tune!

A friend of mine turned me onto Buddy Rich when we were just out of high school. He had seen Rich play in some tiny venue when he was a kid (my friend was a kid, not Rich aka Traps), so we'd jam all the time to all we could find on vinyl and naturally branched out into other names in the style. This was in the late 1980s. I know no one else who digs big band and thought it was basically dead. Only by the magic of the youtube vortex have I discovered what I've been missing for the last 10 years (Jon Hatamiya, Jacob Mann, the Louis Cole wall of sound, Mono Neon). The only thing I need to figure out is when/where can I see performances like this. This is just so cool to see.

I've listened to this at least 200-300 times in the last few weeks.
It plays on loop in my brain as I go about my day.
    Absolutely infectious.
    You're extremely talented.
I love how high energy this song is and wish you'd compose more like it.
No disrespect to your other pieces but the energy in this song fucking sends me.

I would really want to play this with my jazz band, its honestly one of the best charts ive heard because I heard it at a festival. But alot of us are on different levels. I really appreciate this piece though!
