Love your content mate 👍 I was thinking on taking a free diving course and try out spearfishing as a hobby , but I was mildly put off after reading about shallow water blackouts especially knowing that i would most likely be diving on my own. What’s your take on this? Obviously I would avoid going into depths beyond my limits , but have also read that it could happen < 5 meters dives.
Thank you! I definitely encourage you to take a free diving course if your interested in spearfishing, especially if you have no experience underwater. There's plenty of options for such courses nowadays. As for the blackout part, I do not think this should be something to hold you back as you will be educated about and how to avoid during the said course. I for one prefer to spearfish on my own as it gives me more freedom on my movement, but I have been spearfishing for a long time now and I do this knowing well the limits of my body. However, I do strongly suggest that you do it with a buddy especially considering that this is a something new for you and you still need to know how your body reacts to it. Hope this helps.
