- Always be prepared for vehicle emergencies such as flat or punctured tyres. know where the spare is stored and how to release it. Hope this video demo helps!
This demonstration is on the Ford Transit Custom, but all new Ford Vans should come with a spare tyre included.
Usually bolted in as shown to prevent theft, but I have still had mine stolen from underneath, hence why I would advise removing and storing it safely within the van!
You saved my life !!! What a royal pain !!
THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING SUCH A USEFUL VIDEO. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Interesting video to watch.
Thanks
Excellent video and thank you for that. Ford thought very cleverly about this as the spare tyre will never get in the way of the cargo. H o w e v e r... the end result is terrible: from the jack to the spare wheel the process is the fussiest I could ever imagine! Thinking about someone having to do this stuff in the middle of nowhere, at night in deep darkness on a wet and muddy road is something that will for sure leave them dirty all over and in complete despair if not with some plastic trim broken... please Ford redo and re-think this stuff as it is just terrible 🤮
Ford successfully come up with the most ham fisted way of storing a spare tyre, the jack is at the back of the drivers seat, held in place with a rubber band so tight you have to cut it, before you get to a central bolt so long it took ages to get out. Why ford couldn’t think of a simpler way than this heaven only knows. Good video that I made use of this morning at 5 30 am, in the dark changing a wheel.
No worries thanks.
You are right
Ford could have made it a bit easier .
Good luck
Dude, you saved my as well, I was beginning to turn into hulk with frustration, Thank You!

Yes but once you taken the spare wheel off what do you do with the hanging cables now??
Just tape to somewhere underneath safely

mate i have a mk 7 transit the camper conversion has covered it up with wood and i need to find the precise location to hole saw a hole to find access to it if you can help with that very much appreciated.
I would jack the rear axle on the axle tube only, you may risk of damaging the back plate causing a leak. , Do each side in turn. On the front I would jack on the bottom of the suspension arm, each side in turn. A lot of weight in these vans. Good luck,
Merci beaucoup !👍🏻
Wasn't the best video but would be really difficult to improve such a video as you can see its very awkward to get your camera right in. Overall was ok. Thanks for the video. It did make sense.
FFS - no use, in fact, more stress in an emergency!
This video could have been half the length. Good help though cheers
For diy we need this explanation 😂
Thank you brother! You saved me
No worries 👍

The person who designed this, should be made to be on call out 24/7 365 Never have I seen such a bad design, the floor should have had the wheel well and a access panel in the cargo bay... What could be more simple? Imagine doing this on a 10yr old vehicle. What makes this even worse the designers are probably on £50K a year, no wonder the country is in the S*?t
Some of their (ford ) details and design is a pain at the back ..so hard to work it out
The jack is made of cheese. Had a puncture on boxing day. Jack broke. Luckily was saved by the kindness of strangers.
I got a 2022 Transit close to a year ago. I decided to figure all of this out on a nice sunny day in my driveway. I highly recommend it. I also recommend spending 15 minutes every 6 months cranking that tire down and back up and give it a little squirt of wd40 or some such to keep it working like new for years. Also, my jack seems useless unless you have some blocking to set it on as the van is so far off the ground. If you like to be prepared, throw a piece of 6x6 or some such in the back, just in case. The toughest trick for me to figure was putting the GD lug wrench back in the little compartment under the passenger seat. Easy once you know, but damn... thanks for sharing. This will help a lot of people solve a few mysteries!! :)
No worries.

Welding vinyl flooring.
But yea it's is simpl to take them out but damn it's hard to put it back in
No one can work it out unless watch a video on UA-cam..Great we have Internet..
One advice for you .please keep your spare tire inside the back of your van
I do .
Theif stole my tyre and cut the cable 3 times ....I keep mine jus behind the driver seat at the back
Good luck
You saved my life too, thank you!
Had a puncture this morning. Our van is same but 2014 so none of this worked as all rusty 🤦🏻♂️ Had to cut cable
Ow what a nightmare..
If it was left for years undone there will be some rust coverage and deficult to open ..
You may have to store your spare wheel inside the back your van from now..
It's saver 🙌
Had the same problem today, also 2014 and rusty AF, but luckily working just fine
This is why I think Ford should have the spare tyre on the inside, or at least have a cover, to stop the attachment holding the wheel in place from getting rusty.
My van didn't come with a spare wheel when î bought it 2nd hand.
Got a spare last week and have just replaced the spare wheel carrier today as it was rusted up and the plate was missing.
Not happy with it though so im thinking about getting the wheel mounted on the back door
Many thanks

Thank you for the video. I just bought a Ford transit 350, and I noticed it has no spare wheel. I am looking to buy one to have it just in case, but I didn't know how to put it on. So you are very helpful, I didn't know about the tools from under driver seats. Tomorrow I will go to have a look. Cheers, mate!

Why couldn't the nut to release the tyre be the same size as what on the wheel nuts this would be much faster way to release the spare tyre

WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP DESIGN 20 YEARS AGO THEY HAD A CAGE THAT JUST DROPED DOWN PULL OUT THE WHEEL SCREW UP THE CAGE AGAIN AND WE TAUGHT THAT WAS BAD, IMAGINE BEEN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TRYING TO GET ALL THAT PUZZLE APART.
You are spot on . We all have this headache with Ford 😫 it's just so much hassle for nothing..
Thanks for showing every step especially the cable at the end
I'm glad it helped you .
Please share the chanel and subscribe.
Thanks
Fantastic 😊only thing is you don’t need the pointy bit on the tool!
Half inch drive will work. The new models have a bunch of metal bars to connect. Not necessary. Just use your impact
Nice one
thank you
what do you do with the safety cable when retracting winch cable back away without a wheel on? tie wrap/cable tie? I've wrapped it through itself eyelet
I have done the same as you 👍😉
Thank you so much! This set up is ridiculous and very happy I found your video!

Video you asked for Jack.
Thanks for the video, but I'll just cut through the wire cable and keep the spare in the back. Oh and a special thanks to ford for making it such a big deal.
