I know a bit daft asking where abouts you're from, but I'm Ayrshire based and have had a nightmare of a time trying to find out anything legality related. I've had suspicions on a few places around abouts my area, but never found a conclusive "aye you can do panning, aye you can do small equipement, aye you can do small powered equipement" etc. So I'd love to know, firstly, what you are/aren't allowed to do or where you'd go to find out/who to contact. Always a pain dealing with the council here, and every time I've attempted to ask, I just get told oh go to this guy, no this one, no this one, no the first guy and so on. I would say your best bet is to go too Tyndrum as you can pan almost anywhere there without hassle. There is also Leadhills/Wanlockhead but you need to pay for a permit. I think you can buy a day or yearly permit👍🏻⛏🏴
