The idea of Mileena being dependent on servitude because she's incapable of creating her own grand purpose is a great direction for her especially considering she's in the shadow of Kitana who has the half in personality she's missing. Very believable and relatable motivations.

You make a brilliant point about Mileena being wasted potential because she was and that is depressing for someone like me who is a huge fan of the character. Netherealm had a chance to make her into a great character in Mortal Kombat X but they didn't and ended up killing her off because reasons, they could have made her grow as a character that wasn't Shao Khan's attack dog or just Kitana's clone, they could have made her question her existence as a whole but nope.
The Real Dra9onslay3r94 they only killed her off because D’vorah had to exist in the game ever since MKX I knew I didn’t like her and then she kills Mileena that is why my hate for D’vorah exist Mileena should have been made into a powerful character because she has so much potential but you know devs just don’t want her in Mk11 I guess and I also hate how Ed Boon trolls Mileena fans and stans.

If you're wondering it was a Naruto crossover fic where the basic plot is Mileena gets betrayed by the elder gods, ends up in Leaf Village via portal, kills a few Hyuuga clan members, gets captured and r**ped by Hiashi who wants to create a new breed of Hyuuga, falls pregnant with Hinata, stays in the leaf, becomes a urban legend and works with Sarutobi to bring Hiashi down. She goes through alot of growth like in my comment but it hasn't been updated in years :(

It's a shame they never ever EVER address Kitana's cruelty to Millena when she trusted and loved her. They just constantly let Kitana get away with calling her an abomination, and several other terrible names while showing her nothing but contempt and never even giving her a chance to be anything different. Which is pretty cruel considering she NEVER ASKED to be cloned and wants to live. They need to actually treat Kitana's cruelty towards her as something bad. But it seems the 'good guys' can be 1000% cruel to the 'bad guys' and Nether will never treat it like it's a bad thing.
Very late, but, though I do think Kitana can be really cruel towards Mileena, which is why I was really hoping she would come to respect her in MK11, which now seems unlikely, you also have to consider her side. Mileena's mere existence is traumatizing to her, even if it isn't something Mileena did intentionally. Mileena being made was an eye opener to Kitana that she was disposable and was potentially even in danger, and when hearing Shao Kahn tell her the truth, that just made it all worse. Mileena didn't ask to be made, and Kitana didn't ask for her to be made, let alone even know about it. Not to mention she was raised by Shao Kahn, and would not take being cloned without even knowing lightly. Kitana's attitude towards Mileena is actually why I think a Mileena redemption arc is necessary. Because in this case, both she AND Kitana are being developed. Mileena learns to become a better person and hold back her savage and ravenous nature, while Kitana comes to accept Mileena and learns that she really just wants a family and a sense of belonging. That's my thoughts for the new timeline and I actually think Kitana is much more understandable, though in the old timeline I actually find Kitana very dislikable and there isn't as much of a good reason for her to dislike Mileena, considering they were raised together and she should have shown more affection to her.
The4thSnake yeah I know, but the reboot did whatever it wanted. If they had decided to go a different route with her character they would've at MK9, but instead they decided for her to not only be a clone, but for there to be literally hundreds of her. Like in the awful Resident Evil movies
This scene with her death is just a huge waste. I would make Teen Titans hesitate to give Kotal amulet so he binds them before Mileena get killed. Then someone (i would go for Jacqui since she does the least of these 4 plotwise) calls Kotal for not being any better than Shao Kahn. Mileena upon hearing that realizes that her father died, because he had it coming, not out of Raiden's spite, her lust for revenge was needless and that's why she's about to be executed. With that in mind she headbutts D'vorah when she's about to make that kiss of death. Then one of Kotal's guards attacks her with a sword and she let him hit her binds. Free from captivity she knocks guards down (or kills them) and storms out of the tent followed by D'vorah and Kotal and that's when her chapter starts (curse this system). Tanya shows up and helps her (since Rain is a traitor he teleports away). First she fights D'vorah, then Kotal and they both flee. Meanwhile Justice League free themselves from their binds and approach Mileena. Cassie tells her about Rain's scheme and she further realizes how her desire for revenge made her blind. While still furious she tries to calm down and decides to give up her pointless crusade against earthrealm. She makes a truce with Special -Treatment- Forces kids, decides to rally rebels and wait for a good opportunity to weaken Kotal's influence. Since we need 4 fights in the chapter (please don't let MK11 have it) she confronts Rain about his plot and then maybe Ermac, who defects from Kotal Kahn after Mileena speaks with him about Shao Kahn and other of his creations. In Jaqui's chapter she ambushes Kotal's army, involuntarily helps these 4 survive and they flee the scene. Makes more sense than Lin Kuei coming out the woodwork, especially considering Sub-Zero sits with thumb up his ass for the whole game. At the end Kotal would be weakened or defeated. Anyway in the next game she would be ready to fight her revenant sister with their good/evil allignments now being reversed, it would be interesting (Mileena would be more neutral than good, but you get the point). Or just make this bug bitch kill her and remove anything worthwhile that could come from her character. Thanks Netherrealm.
Mileena has always been my main in the MK games. I love everything about her. The games always put the focus mainly on Scorpion and Sub-Z, but there are other characters who have a story to tell, like Mileena, Raiden, Ermac. For Raiden : why does a god ally himself with mortals ? Why does Raiden want to defend Earthrealm so much ? And what about Ermac ? Does Ermac have the memories of all the souls that reside inside him ? How does that affect him ? Does he view himself as a separate being from these souls ? Did he try in the past to get to know more about these souls, for example did he travel to the hometown of one of these souls ?
Funnily enough, I'm going to be discussing those things in future episodes. Ermac will likely be the MK character after Sindel. Raiden will be getting one that discusses the idea of MK1 Raiden having a character arc to become the present Raiden.
I love your take on her story, I was so sad to see Mileena die (especially at the hands of D'Vorah, that bitch). I hope that they decide to give her the character development she deserves at some point, it would be amazing to see her turn into an anti-hero or at least a stand-alone villain in her own right. I never quite understood why kitana hated mileena so much like I get the shock of “oh shit it’s a clone of me but nasty face” however given how empathetic kitana is shown to be towards basically EVERYONE else. Well said, I've always felt that Mileena more potential as a character. She's always been one of my favorite characters and I'm glad someone acknowledges that NetherRealm could do more with her.
To go off on a tangent, I felt Kitana’s long hair was another defining physical trait that NRS left out. I always thought that Kitana’s long ponytail in games like MKDA and MK9 represented the fact that while Kitana is a fighter, she is also of royalty and is someone who cares deeply about her appearance (not to Mileena’s extent, of course). In MKX I feel that while they did captured the Asian princess look, they left out a seemingly minor feature that actually meant a lot about the character (at least to me).
I love the way random no-one characters, who haven't done anything to benefit the lore kill characters, who have done way more than them in ways, that are just straight up awful.

There's still possibility that Baraka survived. D'Vorah could kill another tarkatan, who was acted as Baraka. Baraka's MK Deception ending comes to mind. Just trying to back up the good old character, but at the same time i realize that another tarkatan theory doesn't make a lot of sense. And the player may also spare Baraka, D'Vorah says he's dead in both ways. But i don't see why she would spare him. Especially considering that she wanted to kill Rain and Tanya later on. Can you imagine amount of hate in case she done that? xD
If that scene had happened in the present, it could work. D'Vorah could be revealed to have been ordered to let him live by her real master. Although, given that it's Quan Chi, killing him and making him a revenant would probably be easier.
I just realized that Mileena and Frost are similar characters in terms of personality. Both of them want people to see that they are more than just clones of other characters. They both have a wasted potential personality in terms of needing attention from others and wanting to be known as a dominant threat. Mileena being the empress of Outworld and Frost cyberizing herself. Both want to replace their counterparts of Kitana and Sub-Zero. I wish they are both in an MK game together and team up and actually succeed.
SUUUUPER LATE Reply! There's possibility for another unique route to take: Mileena, Ermac, Skarlet and Meat as an autonomous renagade outfit, with Mileena at the helm. The idea being that all the loss of purpose Mileena feels, and the treatment of her by Shao Khan as so desposible, turns her feelings of loyalty into resentment. Esspecially with the knowledge that if she joins with Khans forces again it would enivitabily lead to the same heart ache she's been goning through but worse. So with Ermac, Skarlet, and Meat feeling very much the same way, they form a unit with sole purpose of tearing down Shao Khan's empire. Not out of loyalty to Edenia, or anything like that, but for revenge of their treatment, and abuse by Khan. And since they are an outlaw gang of sorts they can align with whoever they want, and strike whenever they want, which would lead to some very fascinating match ups. Plus the idea of a final showdown with Kitana, a redeemed Sindel, the renegade Mileena, and the soul of Jarrod in Ermac's body would be the ultimate fuck you to Shao Khan's treachery. The idea that even Khan's monster, clone, daughter would turn against him, would be a fitting symbolic end for an empire built on treachery. All of Khan's work undone, and it's ultimately his fault, would be the last thing that goes through his head beforee he dies.
I don't know why you assume Mileena's death will last, Mileena dies in most of the games she appears in. She's always back in a game or two anyway. hell, given she likely went to hell upon death Kitana could resurrect her herself to act as a bopdydouble/assassin. They even point out in her mirror matches and endings there's likely other bodies for her to inhabit.

Welp, Milleena’s back In MK11. And if the leaks of another story expansion are true, then they could let her potential flow and make her story amazing. Because she deserved MUCH better.
An interesting direction they could take her now is the concept of a neutral or heroic Miles in contrast to nether realm Kitana. The premise of the good and evil sister could be flipped. Maybe the next clone of Mileena lacks the memories needed to make her evil, or a situation causes her to align with the good guys. Hell, you could even expand on the teddy bear scorpion angle for fun. Maybe she could join the Shirai Ryu to fill her need to serve. There's so much potential to explore.
I never understood why Tsung had to use Tarkatan DNA when creating Mileena. Wouldn't they need her to be an exact duplicate of Kitana for the deception to work?
I always assumed it was like Jurassic Park, where the genome is incomplete. Maybe the flesh she's made from is from dead tarkatans, or a new idea I have is that it was intentional, as tarkatans are more subservient, making her easier to control.
I always thought the implication was that because of how fierce/blood thirsty the Tarkatans are as warriors/killers, Shao Kahn wanted those qualities mixed with the natural skill and grace of an Edenian like Kitana---- At least, that's what the rebooted timeline Shao Kahn wanted anyway.
She has a potential to grow to popularity as Sub Zero, Scorpion. Being able to become as in depth as them along with the overs. Maybe even share a box cover with the two (in a perfect world). The code is on the computer. But no one at NRS know how to code her right or worse....don't want too. It's a shame.
It's fucking hilarious how fan cartoons from Blunt-Katana have done more with Mileena than the recent MK offerings. I mean, I know she's dead, but that hasn't stopped them from using characters before. For fuck's sake, MKX had an entire cast of zombies serving as footsoldiers for the bad guys. If there's room for Shao Kahn's old tax collector, then there should be room for his designated heir.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm new to the MK franchise (bought mk11 lmao) but I'm slowly catching up on all the lore. I really love the potential Mileena has, and how easily she could be either redeemed or at least a more fleshed out villain.
I think Mileena working with the Netherrealm alongside Kitana and Sindel to regain her throne in Outworld would have been a really good route for her character in X. That way she actually gets to interact with Kitana and they can form some relationship. Maybe Mileena could have formed an alliance with Shinnok, eventually realize he lied, and side with Earthrealm. I know I'm super late to this, so I might as well go into 11. If they decide to make another story, I hope there is some form of redemption. Or perhaps Mileena could successfully beat and imprison Kitana (because Sindel won't let her kill Kitana) and Mileena tries to manipulate and kill Lui Kang, with Kitana later being freed and going to save him, beating Mileena. This would pretty much set them as equally powerful and I think that's neat. The ideas aren't as good as the ones in this video, but so far with MK11 it seems like those are the only routes they could go. Cetrion wants Mileena and Kitana to get along and according to Jade, Kitana thinks Mileena can be redeemed, so there is potential for that. Or she will remain on Shao Kahn's side, which seems more likely.

Imo, I think the most interesting direction you could take with Mileena would be to build off of her Armageddon personality, which establishes that she’s grown beyond her need to serve Shao Kahn and seeks power for herself. You could maybe have this grow over the course of the games until she just gets fed up with Kahn in his entirety and decides to assassinate him. But since she shouldn’t even be a threat to him, she’d have to use a more underhanded means of killing him. Maybe you could even go for some irony by having her poison him like what Shao did to Onaga. Or at the very least, you could have her win some more fights. From what I’ve researched, this is what Mileena’s record looks like: OG timeline: -Fights Kitana, but gets killed -Has a rematch with Kitana and gets defeated again -Defeats Shujinko, but this doesn’t count since he deliberately threw the fight -Fights Taven, gets defeated -Fights Nightwolf during the Battle of Armageddon, but it’s unknown if there was even a winner here since we later see them fighting other guys NetherRealm timeline: -Fights Kitana, gets defeated -Fights Jade, gets defeated -Fights Stryker, gets defeated -Works with Noob to fight Kabal. They both lose. -Defeats Skarlet, but it’s arguable if this even counts as a win since Ermac had to help her -Fights Reptile while amped by Blood Magik. It’s only seen in the background and we don’t get a definitive winner. -Fights Ermac, gets defeated -Fights Kotal, gets defeated -Fights D’Vorah, gets defeated
I'm just desperately hoping that D'Vorah meets a grisly demise in MK11 (hopefully by the hands of a reincarnated or replicated Mileena). She deserves her revenge, also this thesis was some of the most brilliant work I've seen on YT. I would totally read your fan-fiction stories were you to write any!
This was something that always bugged me: Why is it that no one (or at least not NRS) has made the connection that Ermac should have personal motive for hating Shao Kahn. The most willful soul among the entirety of the Ermac collective is Jerrod, who would naturally resist his former masters once the spell maintaining his allegiance is broken, perhaps even going on to support Edenian interests afterward. But another thing which came to mind which I wished was explored was the fact that as Mileena is a clone of Kitana, that means that she is Jerrod's daughter by extension as well. You could have had Ermac realizing this and, although Kitana and Sindel are dead, he is not entirely without family. At the same time, Mileena had every parental figure of hers (Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung) die very shortly after her "birth" so I figure she could appreciate this as well. If NRS wanted to get *really* spicy, Ermac-Jerrod could have fought for Edenia's freedom and taken on Mileena as his new daughter between MKIX and MKX. Suddenly the shoe is on the other foot, as it is Kitana who has had her rightful place "taken" from her and Mileena wants to free her sister from the taint of evil to get the family back together. For an extra ironic twist, they could keep Mileena's shrinking jaws (or have them be retractable so she can look like a normal Edenian or her original form at will) - now, you have Mileena with her kingdom and good looks in contrast to Kitana, who does not rule Edenia and looks like a gray corpse.
I just wish MK would go back to the old timeline. This new timeline is absolute trash to me. Outside of maybe Cassie and Kung Jin, none of the new characters have any kind of charisma whereas I actually liked a lot of the 3D-era newbies. At least Mileena had some history and relevance in the original timeline. She was stripped of the basics in the new timeline as she doesn't even have any relationship with Kitana thanks to being a fresh creation when we first meet her.
Cassie succs too in the story at least. "Hey guys my mom and dad are so tuff on meeee wahhhh wahhhh" -- only thing Cassie says ever in the story... BUT, in the intros shes like a whole different (MUCH BETTER) character; a fresh-mouthed, shit-talking teenager. She's even funny at times.. .. Where the fucc is that Cassie Cage in the story??? Takeda is ok, he has some hilarious intros too, especially that one with that sacc-of-shit Dvorah, and the Crocodile Dundee shit with Kano was funny too, other than that the only thing I remember about him from the story was that he was banging Jacqui on the not-so-low... Jacqui needs more attitude, BITCH YOU JAX DAUGHTER!! ACT LIKE IT!! TALK SOME SHIT!!.... I know Kung jin likes men and I'm supposed to think hes so fuccing cool for it, but no he succs. That nigga almost got them all killed in Outworld for being that special type of asshole that just had to stop a public, govt sanctioned execution, in OUTWORLD, of some randomn nobody ass nigga... Lol this is MK asshole, off with his fuccin' head goddammit!! Plus he's just a bitch with a bitch ass attitude cuhh. kitanas ending in mk9 was perfect for mileeena, because she accepted her and mileena fought side by side with her, i would of liked to see some type of longing to see her sister again or something.
New mileena was better. All she does is follow and needs to be told what to do. When she gets a taste of freedom she tries to lead like her father. Unfortunately she was never taught how to lead so she is incompetent. She is tragic in the sense she will wish for more, but doomed to always fail.
Further regarding the "too sexy" issue of Mortal Kombat females. I've played MK9, MKX, and recently MK11. Mileena from MK9 is my favorite version of her and she's my favorite character. I know MK9 is notorious for the "too sexy" thing since all the female characters wear very skimpy outfits and pretty much have the same body type (Sheeva actually wears the least). But I completely agree the MK9 version of Mileena represents he personality perfectly for the game (she was just made so she has a childlike personality, she covers her face and draws attention to her body for obvious reasons). Then in MKX she has matured and her personality and appearance match that, plus she has different goals in this game (instead of just serving Shao Kahn and replacing Kitana, she wants to be the rightful ruler of his empire since he's gone). She's not in MK11 and it seems half the people like the new female designs and half don't (I think MKX has some of the best designs but that's just me). I do think they kind of overdid it in MK9 with the massive chests and skimpy outfits, but I still think the personalities, voices, and character designs are better than all the previous games and this game is still my favorite in the entire series. I even dress up as the MK9 version of Mileena (another nerdy cosplayer I know) because she's my favorite version of her, and I also of course had to consider other people's reaction about the whole "too sexy" thing, but I've always thought there's a lot more to her than just that which gets overlooked so I'm glad you made this video. I just realize Kitana is actually technically Mileena's mother she was created from Kitana DNA so Kitana and some Tarkatan are Mileena's parents so Sindel is a grandmother and Jerrod a grandfather if Kitana and Liu Kang marry Mileena is Liu Kang's daughter in law what a family tree.

Child-like Mileena is honestly one of my favourite directions nether real has taken one of its characters. Imagine if instead of claiming the throne of her own accord she goes to pledge to Kotal only for him to refuse and try to kill her and the Edinians step in to save her. As you play through it becomes increasingly apparent that Mileena is being entirely controlled by the self serving Edinians and that she’s blindly following along because she’s desperate for the affection that was denied to her by Kitana and that she lost when Shao Khan died only for her to have a complete breakdown when Tania abandons her to save herself. From there maybe the Kombat Kids take pity on her and want to imprison her but Kotal remains steadfast that she must die and that is the tipping point between the factions.
mileena's purpose was to start Armageddon she quotes in mk 10 to finish her father's work but once again raiden needed the amulet, that is when kronika came. that's why i didn't understand why kronika didn't bring Mileena back she had a big role to play in almost causing armageddon and she should've killed d'vorah ass for killing her in the past that would have been a nice ass fight scene in mk 11 if they would've brought mileena back and put her in the story.

I would love for Millena to become a heroine. And then would go back to fight her now evil revenant Kitana variant. To show a switch of both roles of good and bad. She would be absolutely amazing maybe her and Kung Lao may fall in love just like Liu Kang and Kitana. Or she could become her own Empress. Which I would want for her.
The idea of Mileena being dependent on servitude because she's incapable of creating her own grand purpose is a great direction for her especially considering she's in the shadow of Kitana who has the half in personality she's missing. Very believable and relatable motivations.

You make a brilliant point about Mileena being wasted potential because she was and that is depressing for someone like me who is a huge fan of the character. Netherealm had a chance to make her into a great character in Mortal Kombat X but they didn't and ended up killing her off because reasons, they could have made her grow as a character that wasn't Shao Khan's attack dog or just Kitana's clone, they could have made her question her existence as a whole but nope.

They just constantly let Kitana get away with calling her an abomination, and several other terrible names while showing her nothing but contempt and never even giving her a chance to be anything different. Which is pretty cruel considering she NEVER ASKED to be cloned and wants to live. They need to actually treat Kitana's cruelty towards her as something bad. But it seems the 'good guys' can be 1000% cruel to the 'bad guys' and Nether will never treat it like it's a bad thing.

Very late, but, though I do think Kitana can be really cruel towards Mileena, which is why I was really hoping she would come to respect her in MK11, which now seems unlikely, you also have to consider her side.
Mileena's mere existence is traumatizing to her, even if it isn't something Mileena did intentionally. Mileena being made was an eye opener to Kitana that she was disposable and was potentially even in danger, and when hearing Shao Kahn tell her the truth, that just made it all worse.
Mileena didn't ask to be made, and Kitana didn't ask for her to be made, let alone even know about it. Not to mention she was raised by Shao Kahn, and would not take being cloned without even knowing lightly.
Kitana's attitude towards Mileena is actually why I think a Mileena redemption arc is necessary. Because in this case, both she AND Kitana are being developed.
Mileena learns to become a better person and hold back her savage and ravenous nature, while Kitana comes to accept Mileena and learns that she really just wants a family and a sense of belonging.
That's my thoughts for the new timeline and I actually think Kitana is much more understandable, though in the old timeline I actually find Kitana very dislikable and there isn't as much of a good reason for her to dislike Mileena, considering they were raised together and she should have shown more affection to her.

This scene with her death is just a huge waste. I would make Teen Titans hesitate to give Kotal amulet so he binds them before Mileena get killed. Then someone (i would go for Jacqui since she does the least of these 4 plotwise) calls Kotal for not being any better than Shao Kahn. Mileena upon hearing that realizes that her father died, because he had it coming, not out of Raiden's spite, her lust for revenge was needless and that's why she's about to be executed.
With that in mind she headbutts D'vorah when she's about to make that kiss of death. Then one of Kotal's guards attacks her with a sword and she let him hit her binds. Free from captivity she knocks guards down (or kills them) and storms out of the tent followed by D'vorah and Kotal and that's when her chapter starts (curse this system). Tanya shows up and helps her (since Rain is a traitor he teleports away). First she fights D'vorah, then Kotal and they both flee. Meanwhile Justice League free themselves from their binds and approach Mileena. Cassie tells her about Rain's scheme and she further realizes how her desire for revenge made her blind. While still furious she tries to calm down and decides to give up her pointless crusade against earthrealm.
She makes a truce with Special -Treatment- Forces kids, decides to rally rebels and wait for a good opportunity to weaken Kotal's influence. Since we need 4 fights in the chapter (please don't let MK11 have it) she confronts Rain about his plot and then maybe Ermac, who defects from Kotal Kahn after Mileena speaks with him about Shao Kahn and other of his creations.
In Jaqui's chapter she ambushes Kotal's army, involuntarily helps these 4 survive and they flee the scene. Makes more sense than Lin Kuei coming out the woodwork, especially considering Sub-Zero sits with thumb up his ass for the whole game. At the end Kotal would be weakened or defeated. Anyway in the next game she would be ready to fight her revenant sister with their good/evil allignments now being reversed, it would be interesting (Mileena would be more neutral than good, but you get the point).
Or just make this bug bitch kill her and remove anything worthwhile that could come from her character. Thanks Netherrealm.

Mileena has always been my main in the MK games. I love everything about her. The games always put the focus mainly on Scorpion and Sub-Z, but there are other characters who have a story to tell, like Mileena, Raiden, Ermac. For Raiden : why does a god ally himself with mortals ? Why does Raiden want to defend Earthrealm so much ? And what about Ermac ? Does Ermac have the memories of all the souls that reside inside him ? How does that affect him ? Does he view himself as a separate being from these souls ? Did he try in the past to get to know more about these souls, for example did he travel to the hometown of one of these souls ?
Funnily enough, I'm going to be discussing those things in future episodes. Ermac will likely be the MK character after Sindel. Raiden will be getting one that discusses the idea of MK1 Raiden having a character arc to become the present Raiden.
I love your take on her story, I was so sad to see Mileena die (especially at the hands of D'Vorah, that bitch). I hope that they decide to give her the character development she deserves at some point, it would be amazing to see her turn into an anti-hero or at least a stand-alone villain in her own right. Well said, I've always felt that Mileena more potential as a character. She's always been one of my favorite characters and I'm glad someone acknowledges that NetherRealm could do more with her.
To go off on a tangent, I felt Kitana’s long hair was another defining physical trait that NRS left out. I always thought that Kitana’s long ponytail in games like MKDA and MK9 represented the fact that while Kitana is a fighter, she is also of royalty and is someone who cares deeply about her appearance (not to Mileena’s extent, of course). In MKX I feel that while they did captured the Asian princess look, they left out a seemingly minor feature that actually meant a lot about the character (at least to me).

There's still possibility that Baraka survived. D'Vorah could kill another tarkatan, who was acted as Baraka. Baraka's MK Deception ending comes to mind. Just trying to back up the good old character, but at the same time i realize that another tarkatan theory doesn't make a lot of sense.
And the player may also spare Baraka, D'Vorah says he's dead in both ways. But i don't see why she would spare him. Especially considering that she wanted to kill Rain and Tanya later on. Can you imagine amount of hate in case she done that? xD

I just realized that Mileena and Frost are similar characters in terms of personality. Both of them want people to see that they are more than just clones of other characters. They both have a wasted potential personality in terms of needing attention from others and wanting to be known as a dominant threat. Mileena being the empress of Outworld and Frost cyberizing herself. Both want to replace their counterparts of Kitana and Sub-Zero. I wish they are both in an MK game together and team up and actually succeed.

SUUUUPER LATE Reply! There's possibility for another unique route to take: Mileena, Ermac, Skarlet and Meat as an autonomous renagade outfit, with Mileena at the helm. The idea being that all the loss of purpose Mileena feels, and the treatment of her by Shao Khan as so desposible, turns her feelings of loyalty into resentment. Esspecially with the knowledge that if she joins with Khans forces again it would enivitabily lead to the same heart ache she's been goning through but worse. So with Ermac, Skarlet, and Meat feeling very much the same way, they form a unit with sole purpose of tearing down Shao Khan's empire. Not out of loyalty to Edenia, or anything like that, but for revenge of their treatment, and abuse by Khan. And since they are an outlaw gang of sorts they can align with whoever they want, and strike whenever they want, which would lead to some very fascinating match ups. Plus the idea of a final showdown with Kitana, a redeemed Sindel, the renegade Mileena, and the soul of Jarrod in Ermac's body would be the ultimate fuck you to Shao Khan's treachery. The idea that even Khan's monster, clone, daughter would turn against him, would be a fitting symbolic end for an empire built on treachery. All of Khan's work undone, and it's ultimately his fault, would be the last thing that goes through his head beforee he dies.

I don't know why you assume Mileena's death will last, Mileena dies in most of the games she appears in. She's always back in a game or two anyway. hell, given she likely went to hell upon death Kitana could resurrect her herself to act as a bopdydouble/assassin. They even point out in her mirror matches and endings there's likely other bodies for her to inhabit.
Kitana hates Mileena for her insanity, yet it's really her fault. Mileena was still incomplete, but Kitana woke her up too early. It's sort of like a baby being delivered too early

An interesting direction they could take her now is the concept of a neutral or heroic Miles in contrast to nether realm Kitana. The premise of the good and evil sister could be flipped. Maybe the next clone of Mileena lacks the memories needed to make her evil, or a situation causes her to align with the good guys. Hell, you could even expand on the teddy bear scorpion angle for fun. Maybe she could join the Shirai Ryu to fill her need to serve. There's so much potential to explore.

I never understood why Tsung had to use Tarkatan DNA when creating Mileena. Wouldn't they need her to be an exact duplicate of Kitana for the deception to work?
I always assumed it was like Jurassic Park, where the genome is incomplete. Maybe the flesh she's made from is from dead tarkatans, or a new idea I have is that it was intentional, as tarkatans are more subservient, making her easier to control.
I always thought the implication was that because of how fierce/blood thirsty the Tarkatans are as warriors/killers, Shao Kahn wanted those qualities mixed with the natural skill and grace of an Edenian like Kitana---- At least, that's what the rebooted timeline Shao Kahn wanted anyway.
She has a potential to grow to popularity as Sub Zero, Scorpion. Being able to become as in depth as them along with the overs. Maybe even share a box cover with the two (in a perfect world).

Thank you so much for this video! I'm new to the MK franchise (bought mk11 lmao) but I'm slowly catching up on all the lore. I really love the potential Mileena has, and how easily she could be either redeemed or at least a more fleshed out villain.
I think Mileena working with the Netherrealm alongside Kitana and Sindel to regain her throne in Outworld would have been a really good route for her character in X. That way she actually gets to interact with Kitana and they can form some relationship. Maybe Mileena could have formed an alliance with Shinnok, eventually realize he lied, and side with Earthrealm.
I know I'm super late to this, so I might as well go into 11. If they decide to make another story, I hope there is some form of redemption. Or perhaps Mileena could successfully beat and imprison Kitana (because Sindel won't let her kill Kitana) and Mileena tries to manipulate and kill Lui Kang, with Kitana later being freed and going to save him, beating Mileena. This would pretty much set them as equally powerful and I think that's neat.
The ideas aren't as good as the ones in this video, but so far with MK11 it seems like those are the only routes they could go. Cetrion wants Mileena and Kitana to get along and according to Jade, Kitana thinks Mileena can be redeemed, so there is potential for that. Or she will remain on Shao Kahn's side, which seems more likely.

Imo, I think the most interesting direction you could take with Mileena would be to build off of her Armageddon personality, which establishes that she’s grown beyond her need to serve Shao Kahn and seeks power for herself. You could maybe have this grow over the course of the games until she just gets fed up with Kahn in his entirety and decides to assassinate him. But since she shouldn’t even be a threat to him, she’d have to use a more underhanded means of killing him. Maybe you could even go for some irony by having her poison him like what Shao did to Onaga.
Or at the very least, you could have her win some more fights. From what I’ve researched, this is what Mileena’s record looks like:

-Fights Kitana, but gets killed
-Has a rematch with Kitana and gets defeated again
-Defeats Shujinko, but this doesn’t count since he deliberately threw the fight
-Fights Taven, gets defeated

This was something that always bugged me: Why is it that no one (or at least not NRS) has made the connection that Ermac should have personal motive for hating Shao Kahn. The most willful soul among the entirety of the Ermac collective is Jerrod, who would naturally resist his former masters once the spell maintaining his allegiance is broken, perhaps even going on to support Edenian interests afterward.
But another thing which came to mind which I wished was explored was the fact that as Mileena is a clone of Kitana, that means that she is Jerrod's daughter by extension as well. You could have had Ermac realizing this and, although Kitana and Sindel are dead, he is not entirely without family. At the same time, Mileena had every parental figure of hers (Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung) die very shortly after her "birth" so I figure she could appreciate this as well.
If NRS wanted to get *really* spicy, Ermac-Jerrod could have fought for Edenia's freedom and taken on Mileena as his new daughter between MKIX and MKX. Suddenly the shoe is on the other foot, as it is Kitana who has had her rightful place "taken" from her and Mileena wants to free her sister from the taint of evil to get the family back together. For an extra ironic twist, they could keep Mileena's shrinking jaws (or have them be retractable so she can look like a normal Edenian or her original form at will) - now, you have Mileena with her kingdom and good looks in contrast to Kitana, who does not rule Edenia and looks like a gray corpse.
I just wish MK would go back to the old timeline. This new timeline is absolute trash to me. Outside of maybe Cassie and Kung Jin, none of the new characters have any kind of charisma whereas I actually liked a lot of the 3D-era newbies.
At least Mileena had some history and relevance in the original timeline. She was stripped of the basics in the new timeline as she doesn't even have any relationship with Kitana thanks to being a fresh creation when we first meet her.

Takeda is ok, he has some hilarious intros too, especially that one with that sacc-of-shit Dvorah, and the Crocodile Dundee shit with Kano was funny too, other than that the only thing I remember about him from the story was that he was banging Jacqui on the not-so-low... Jacqui needs more attitude, BITCH YOU JAX DAUGHTER!! ACT LIKE IT!! TALK SOME SHIT!!.... I know Kung jin likes men and I'm supposed to think hes so fuccing cool for it, but no he succs. That nigga almost got them all killed in Outworld for being that special type of asshole that just had to stop a public, govt sanctioned execution, in OUTWORLD, of some randomn nobody ass nigga... kitanas ending in mk9 was perfect for mileeena, because she accepted her and mileena fought side by side with her, i would of liked to see some type of longing to see her sister again or something.
I think Mileena just wanted her family to accept her, and when they didn't she ended up having too much to prove.
New mileena was better. All she does is follow and needs to be told what to do. When she gets a taste of freedom she tries to lead like her father. Unfortunately she was never taught how to lead so she is incompetent. She is tragic in the sense she will wish for more, but doomed to always fail.

Further regarding the "too sexy" issue of Mortal Kombat females. I've played MK9, MKX, and recently MK11. Mileena from MK9 is my favorite version of her and she's my favorite character. I know MK9 is notorious for the "too sexy" thing since all the female characters wear very skimpy outfits and pretty much have the same body type (Sheeva actually wears the least). But I completely agree the MK9 version of Mileena represents he personality perfectly for the game (she was just made so she has a childlike personality, she covers her face and draws attention to her body for obvious reasons). Then in MKX she has matured and her personality and appearance match that, plus she has different goals in this game (instead of just serving Shao Kahn and replacing Kitana, she wants to be the rightful ruler of his empire since he's gone). She's not in MK11 and it seems half the people like the new female designs and half don't (I think MKX has some of the best designs but that's just me). I do think they kind of overdid it in MK9 with the massive chests and skimpy outfits, but I still think the personalities, voices, and character designs are better than all the previous games and this game is still my favorite in the entire series. I even dress up as the MK9 version of Mileena (another nerdy cosplayer I know) because she's my favorite version of her, and I also of course had to consider other people's reaction about the whole "too sexy" thing, but I've always thought there's a lot more to her than just that which gets overlooked so I'm glad you made this video. Sorry, that was a pretty long comment but I like this video :)

Child-like Mileena is honestly one of my favourite directions nether real has taken one of its characters. Imagine if instead of claiming the throne of her own accord she goes to pledge to Kotal only for him to refuse and try to kill her and the Edinians step in to save her. As you play through it becomes increasingly apparent that Mileena is being entirely controlled by the self serving Edinians and that she’s blindly following along because she’s desperate for the affection that was denied to her by Kitana and that she lost when Shao Khan died only for her to have a complete breakdown when Tania abandons her to save herself. From there maybe the Kombat Kids take pity on her and want to imprison her but Kotal remains steadfast that she must die and that is the tipping point between the factions.

mileena's purpose was to start Armageddon she quotes in mk 10 to finish her father's work but once again raiden needed the amulet, that is when kronika came. that's why i didn't understand why kronika didn't bring Mileena back she had a big role to play in almost causing armageddon and she should've killed d'vorah ass for killing her in the past that would have been a nice ass fight scene in mk 11 if they would've brought mileena back and put her in the story.
Mileena has nothing to do with Armageddon. Kahn's work is merging the realms and ruling them. Armageddon is unrelated.
@@The4thSnake but he failed because the elder gods imprisoned him because raiden told the elder gods shao khan doings, Mileena was supposed to take over his throne and be the ruler of outworld Khan has a long hate history with Kotal he was not suppose to rule and mileena was supposed to kill kitana but her own mother did.
@@The4thSnake so what I'm saying is Mileena was supposed to merge the realms witch would have lead to armageddon because raiden amulet was still cracking and mileena had took shinok's amulet. things kind of happened the way it wasn't suppose to you can blame Raiden? if you follow the stories to the previous mk Quan chi and Shang tsung were the ones who kill Lu Kang so in my opinion Lu kang was the only one who was supposed to die in battle remember he was the revanet on top of the permed fighting shang tsung but everything happed in the opposite way that is why I said Mileena.

I would love for Millena to become a heroine. And then would go back to fight her now evil revenant Kitana variant. To show a switch of both roles of good and bad. She would be absolutely amazing maybe her and Kung Lao may fall in love just like Liu Kang and Kitana. Or she could become her own Empress. Which I would want for her.
