i thought of it as a love yourself message. he was alone at first thinking about what he didn't have by looking at all the couples. then he was in a relationship (because he put the end in friends and turned it into a romantic one) in the second half of the mv but he still got hit by the car. it had the same outcome. he then woke up with himself who seemed content.
Xavi is edging up to another interpretation I've seen that carries a lot of resonance. The MV is illustrating fans' attitude toward Idol romantic relationships:
In the first section, V (the Idol), is alone, lonely & sad while everyone (the fans), around him are happy & in a relationship. Alone = Idol suffers + fans blissful
In the second, the Idol is happy & content in a relationship but fans are angry, sad & fighting each other. Relationship = Idol happy + fans upset & fighting
In the end, the Idol realizes he has to learn to love himself first & what the fans are doing is nowhere to be seen.

Wonder why it's set in England with the double decker buses. Ends with LOVE YOURSELF.
They are not kissing because they are not in a relationship. They are FRIENDS
Song is good and mv funny (filmed in UK). To me: life goes on and friends and love ones could come and go too (however we see "me or others in" relationships) - end of the day there is yourself who you have to deal with, love yourself...😁💜. Sorry my english and greetings from the north edge of Europe
