I was taken from my home State of Maine in 1958. Born in Waterville 1954. Loving Maine all my life. I returned in 1968 to find friends I would have grown up with if I had stayed. Becky of the South End brought me to see the 2 cent bridge.wonderful visit
Nice to see the 2 cent bridge again. Last i saw it, it was unsafe and shut. Spent a great childhood playing on the banks of the Kennebec around that old bridge. So many memories in this piece of film! We brought in the hay almost the same way in the 80's as they do in the film! Thanks for posting!
In the 80's we used an Allis Chalmers tractor with a New Holland Baler equipped with bale ejector and we put up 30,000 bales a year. You should have called us. We delivered.
Everyone should see the potatoe fields in Presque. In Spring they are pink and white with flowers.. In Winter Moosehead Lake is ice boat ready. The Trolly Museum in Kennebunkport . From top to bottom and in-between, it's grand !
Well im from greenfield, mass...I love your state also. I use to go up ALOT in the late 1970's, not too far up but around old orchard, ocean park, wells...shop in portland. I wish i wasn't so old or i would attempt to make it my home also, but you enjoy that beautiful place since i can't....peace !
I moved here a year ago and there is nothing else like it. I live in the Andy Griffith show and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Everyone knows everyone, no traffic lights, crime rate damn near zero. Winter was pretty brutal though :).

The 2 cent bridge is fully restored and back to working order with an amazing park on the Waterville side.
I am very proud to be from this state born and raised.

Longfellow's birthplace was demolished in the 1950s. There's a hotel there now.

Jean Vaillancourt ... Parlez-vous encore français dans votre coin?
Winters in Maine suck, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else during the summer months
