- Hey guys how is everyone going on this nice laid back Friday? Today is just a bit of fun to see how much aluminium is in this 5ft ladder my friend gave me to melt down. I got a great haul of bars and skulls from this ladder to help me on my way to 1000 kgs. Once i actually hit that target im really not to sure where to go from then but itll take me a few years at least so im not going anywhere soon. HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it??????.

STEEL FOR MY FRIEND
I keep all my steel and cast iron pieces and I give them to my friend and once he gets about a tonne from me and his own collecting he takes that to the scrapyard and sells it then he buys some beer and comes over to my house and we make a night of it.
No My friend doesn’t have a UA-cam channel he just scraps metal in his spare time.

How Much Aluminum In a 5ft Ladder - Big Bars - ASMR Metal Melting - BigStackD Casting Bars & Skulls
How are all my awesome subscribers going on this quiet laid-back Friday I’m experiencing? Happy and healthy I hope. Today nothing too exciting just melting down a ladder as my friend upgraded to a bigger one and never uses it so what better way than to melt it down and stack it on the shelf😁. I hope everyone enjoys the video as the bar in the picture came out absolutely awesome and there’s also extra bars and more of the skull coins so check it out. And most importantly have a happy safe weekend my friends and see you all next Friday we’re hopefully I can do a Halloween themed video if all goes as planned👍🏻 Now if you wanna help support the channel just by donating some time simply allowing the ads to play through this will help out alot and that’s how I make a bit extra revenue and the good thing is more revenue means more giveaways👊🏻😄. A better way to support the channel is play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as well but don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻

If someone ever breaks into your house they're going to drop to there knees at the sight of your metal bar wall
Lol, more like drop to their knees under it. A gold bar alone is nearly 10 pounds, that's a God dam sack of potatoes. There's a reason why we have so few restrictions at the plant for forging Gold bullion, a solid mass of 87 pounds of gold is a lot harder to steal than in the movies.
@@An_Average_Arsonist that's only 870 pounds my dude, that's well under the carry capacity of a Mazda Miata lmfao. Get 2 guys together and you can load up a small van with maybe 2000lbs of gold in under 20 minutes
@@marcusborderlands6177 goodluck getting that past the weight sensors on any vehicle, goodluck even moving that much bullion onto the truck, and goodluck winning a car chase with that much extra weight on any truck.
@@marcusborderlands6177 from a design point of view, gold is in itself difficult to steal, because of how ridiculously heavy it is. Its forged in the core of a dying star for goodness sake.
I should mention that the stuff is so dense compared to its surface area, that even stacked evenly in the back compartment of a van, you'll break the axles trying to fit those 87 pound ingots in there up to 2000lbs.
And if you drive faster than 60 kilometers an hour, those bars are all sliding out the back without a reinforced steel frame/door.
Belive me, its easier to rob a bank for its money, than its bullion.
@@An_Average_Arsonist gold is not as heavy as you think... 87 pounds is a lot, yes, but the average van has a weight capacity of well over 2000 pounds, a simple e150 is almost 4000, and the doors are easily strong enough to hold bars in, its a van, not an f1 car, its not gonna accelerate fast enough to send the bars flying... people steal much heavier shit all the time, and have literally no issues.
I hauled 3k pounds of lead scrap in the back of my friends pickup a month ago, and thats on the same frame as a ford transit van...
Also, the whole forged in a star thing... same as most other metals dingus.and look at the periodic table, gold isnt even far down, and its density is kinda meh compared to other metals on the table...
Here I am, having to wake up for work in 6 hours, watching a man melt a ladder. Time well spent

Is the indentation in the ingot from cooling to fast? Have you ever tried a slow cool to see if the metal will solidify without an indentation? Try pouring the metal in the mold and then put the mold over the heat to keep the metal a liquid and slowly lower the heat.
Don't know what causes it but it really bugs me to see ingots with them

when this guy goes to sell his house,
"Yea I got like, 3 million dollars worth of copper, aluminum, iron, and other metals."
I'm sure those are two of the happiest dogs in the world.
Working with aluminum is especially annoying, its prone to cracking, warping, and creasing if you try to forge an ingot.
this is because as the core cools, aluminum is so light its prone to form an internal convection current, as the hot liquid cycles with the "cooler" liquid ever so slightly. It warps, cracks or creases the dam ingots, which is why industry aluminum prefers to store them as drum spun sheets.
You can get around it by finishing the cooling process with an ice bath, but too soon and the ingots crack, warp, of fuggin crease, and too late, you may as well have done nothing at all.
(creasing is when the internal separate hot and cooler liquids get to the semi solid state, and one side becomes fully solid 20-30 seconds before the other, the still liquid side pushes on the solid, and the solid forms ridges on the bottom of the ingot.)
The irony is that aluminum is best stored as an ingot since the larger its surface area the more material will oxidize in reaction to the air, which makes drum spun aluminum significantly more brittle when reforging, as the impurities (aluminum oxide) tamper with your output.
The only reason we even work with this hellspawn is because of how common, durable, light and resistant to corrosion it is.
It's weird that I was thinking, hey this house looks like it's australian. Turns out it's in my suburb 😂

Love your video's! Have a noob question you've probably been asked a million times but you never seem to melt down steel. Is that because the cost of gas used to melt it down is not worth it or does it take way more heat to melt down? Some other reason perhaps? Just curious, your pups are so adorable!
Yes I have answered it quite a few times but I don’t mind answering each time as I get that many comments New subscribers that aren’t quite sure why I don’t. I simply can’t melt steel because the furnace doesn’t get hot enough and even if it did all I would do was make a bunch of steel coins and then I would probably never melt steel again. I really have no interest in collecting anything in steel but steel coins would be pretty cool and I would need to cover them in clear acrylic spray paint so they don’t rust but that’s basically the main reason. In the future I will definitely do a steel alloy where I mix steel with aluminium or copper or something else to see what that ingot looks like but for now I’ll just continue what I’m doing👌🏻😁
Ah yes that makes sense. Thanks for answering my question 😊 Can't wait for the next video! Cheers 🍻
