You are not a better person if you take the bike to work. You will not leave a carbonfootprint, but the the person could still be a murderer.
And we must talk about the pratical aspect. If you have two to three children taking a bike isn't a valid way to get your children to school and carpooling isn't a solution.
The best ways improve the enviroment is to close down coal power plant. One other is too stop the textile industry from poluting.

Yes drive an electric car instead of a petrol one. Drive a car with a battery that contains incredibly dangerous chemicals. Drive a car with a battery that contains elements that have to be mined and transported to various factories all over the world. Drive a car with a battery where the chemicals need to be refined which dumps harmful gases into the atmosphere. Drive a car with a battery which needs to be replaced more frequently than a petrol engine and cannot be repaired, meaning it has to be thrown away. Drive a car with a battery that relies on electricity, that everyone seems to think grows on fucking trees. Oh lets not use plastic, okay good idea. So that packaging thats around a turtles neck has got legs and walked into the ocean did it, you dont think someone maybe threw it in there? Lets use cardboard for packaging, again what a great idea. Apart from the fact that it isnt waterproof so you have to reinforce it, which uses more energy and is incredibly difficult to recycle, unlike plastic.
