Emma, I have a lot of difficulty finding clothes (apple body, size 22) and shoes (size 10 wide) but I can always find purses and bags that fit, LOL! I have a collection of hard sided evening bags which I loan out to friends and family and at least 30 purses. I have a lot of jeans and denim shorts but let me tell you, being large breasted means that my top shopping is a nightmare. Now that I think of it, being an apple body makes shopping a nightmare from which I don't wake. But purses? Oh boy, all of my purses fit me just fine.
I’ve come to realize that I‘m not a bag person so I have decluttered almost all my bags except for 3 bags (small tan clutch, black tote and fanny pack) and 2 backpacks (casual/work and hiking). However I‘ve always loved shoes and owned over 30 pairs, but 3 years ago my feet suddenly grew another size so I had to rethink all of my shoes and if I really need them enough to purchase a bigger size. Now I‘ve settled for high quality, resoleable shoes that will hopefully last a lifetime. I own 10 pairs and that’s absolutely sufficient for me, as I work an office job that requires formal footwear and in my free time I really love me a good pair of red wings :)
Same happened to me. I had many shoes, over 40, but my feet grew due to pregnancy and also to age. So unfortunately I have to replace them, or discard them, it took me years to accept but I’m finally ready for it. I have a couple of new ones already, obviously.
Nikki Ross 128 B it’s so weird because on one hand I get excited to have a valid reason to buy new shoes, but on the other I‘m annoyed as my favorites may not be available anymore :/
I have a tan cross-body bag that I use year-round most days, and three other handbags that I rotate with my seasonal colours when the tan isn't appropriate - blush pink for spring, black for summer and winter red. I've been using the same black purse for over ten years, I find I don't get bored or change my bags often.
I love my Kavu backpack-purse, I have one that I thrifted in a mauve corduroy so it’s neutral and goes with my color palette of dusty tones. It’s more like a hiking backpack/ Seattle vibe, but being a mom I need to carry a few extra baby items and it’s nice to have a non-diaper bag option. I also used to have just 6 pairs of footwear! I have so much more now and I need to declutter my closet. But I used to have just - 1 winter boot (I live where it’s very cold and snowy in the winter) - 1 knee high riding boot - 1 ballet flat - 1 summer/ dressy sandal/ wedge for church - 1 hiking sandal (Chacos) - 1 supportive tennis shoe, like Saucony And slippers!
I really like your wardrobe advise. It really is helpful. But from my point of view: I also want to have a small wardrobe because it is just so much better for the environment to consume as little as possible. With that being said: I am really not into cheap NEW jewelry or NEW expensive high end bags. The world we live in is basically full with stuff other people doesn´t use, so I really like to shop second hand, DIY oder use recycled gold to make new jewelry pieces. I have been missing this part a little bit in your videos lately. I really enjoyed previous thrift videos from you :) I hope you can incorporate DIY or thrift ideas in videos to come. Other than that I have found your series very helpful so far :)
Thank you! I know! I am always a fan of second hand of course! Unfortunately, things are still not really open yet so shopping second hand has been difficult lately. It’s always tough! I wish I was able to thrift more or afford sustainable brands. Unfortunately I’m just not there yet! That is why simply being a conscious shopper is the next best thing. I hope to do more thrifting content soon!
Such wonderful advice and yet I can't say no to a good bag. It's definitely my one guilty pleasure that I save save save for. I end up with a bunch of designer bags that I love 🥰
If bags bring you joy and you get a lot of use out of them, feel free to have more in your wardrobe. It’s like me with jeans. I can’t turn down a pair of wide leg pants. Do I need as many as I have? Not really. But I love them and wear them all the time 😊
I have the exact same pair of Birkenstock‘s - twice actually. One is a hand me down from my uncle and they are getting a bit very worn so I just got a new pair. Not looking forward to “breaking them in“ 🙈 but I love that colour and style :)

I like the content of your videos.. Very practical but yet very stylish vlogger.😍
I love that straw tote! Really gorgeous. Your new bag is lovely, too - I must check out that brand because I've never heard of it before!
