      Hi Dylan, 😀
      That's awesome you're learning the flute by yourself! Here's the link to my free flute mini course on tone if you're interested in checking it out. www.flute.school/free

    omg thank you soooo much for this video! I have been playing flute for almost 4 years and my tongueing always sounds unclear to me. My teacher just asked me to do tongueing practice repeatedly without being able to point out what is my mistake exactly. After watching your video,I tried to adjust the position of my tongue and my tongueing instantaneously became sooo clear. Thank you for solving the problem that has troubled me years!!!

      So glad it helped you Zhiwei! Yes, it's much easier to play when your tonguing is in the right spot, so good on you for working it out!

    Some of these things I had to figure out, some my teacher told me, and there were some new ones like the curled tongue. That bird is so cute!

    I know this is a pretty late comment compared to when the video was posted but this has helped me GREATLY. I wondered for a while why it was hard to tongue while playing at higher speeds. Thank you!

      the birds love your flute btw

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  4 роки тому +2

      Yes Sufy! Try flutter tonguing (ie rolling your r's) without the flute first. Then try it with a flute shaped mouth, but still no flute. Then lastly, add the flute. Good luck!

    My problem is when I play scales I have trouble syncing but when I play my marching band music my tounging is in sync please let me know why or how I can fix that I have tried doing what was in the video it fixed some of it but not all of it

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  Місяць тому

      You might be playing the scales too fast for your tongue at the moment. Try and slow down the scales to make sure your articulation and fingering is in sync. Once that is working well, then you can slowly increase speed gradually over time, and build it back up to a faster tempo. 😀

    I have watched your video and I love the advice you said. However I'm still having trouble getting my tongue to articulated. Since I have not been tonguing for im not sure of how long. I just started to noticed last week. And I have been playing the flute for six years. Earlier of last year I was working fixing my embouchure. But I'm trying to get back doing the right tonguing. And I'm troubling of where to start again.

      Hi Chiyoko, I'm glad you found the video helpful. For your tonguing, try to make your tongue light - just like when you're speaking and saying TATATATATAH. You might want to look into doing The 5 Day Breakthrough www.flute.school/breakthrough - there's a whole section on Day 2 (in The Complete Flute Players Troubleshooting Guide) about tonguing which would definitely help you. Good luck!

    Could incorrect tonguing cause your cheeks to hurt? Because I am not tonguing behind my front teeth and I hurts

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  Рік тому

      Hello! 😀 It might be attributing to it! Most of the time sore cheeks is from squeezing your embouchure too much.

    Ive been always told to "to" never "ti" or "ta"

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  4 роки тому

      If TO gets you a better sound than TI or TA, then that's great! Keep doing it!

    So it’s tee tee not tuh tuh? I use tuh

    • @JaneFluteSchool
      @JaneFluteSchool  Рік тому

      Yes, tuh tuh or ta ta creates the same action in your mouth. If this is giving you a clear attack on your notes for tonguing then you're welcome to stick to that method. 😀

      It is but the problem I think I have is that my tongue is too foward😔 my lip move when I play because my tongue hits the lip. What do I do??😢

      Oh no! Try to just use the tip of your tongue for tonguing. 😀
