    Started carnivore 2 months ago with my wife, purely as a way to support her and to make mealtimes easier. She's had fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue 15 years and a few other autoimmune disorders. We've transitioned recently to keto by including avocados and a few very low carb vegetables. I noticed within a few days of starting how clear and stable my brain has become. I'm bipolar type 1 and aspergers. Never been treated as I've worked from home for the past 22 years, being at home most of the time keeps me fairly stable. When I noticed these profound changes in my brain I started looking into why the diet has had this effect. Been amazing to find out it's a thing and that I'm not imagining it.🙂

    Another branch of medicine where the ketogenic diet can be helpful in symptom control is narcolepsy. It’s a devastating disorder. In my six and a half years of eating this way, I’ve personally experienced a 180 degree in symptom control and improvement in overall brain health eating ketogenically. It’s not something my personal sleep med doctors are interested in discussing but I hope one day this becomes mainstream bc it is truly life changing.
    Thank you all for putting this information out for the public to hear.

    My husband and I have been following the information from Metabolic mind for several months now. It was a revelation to me that lasting healing is possible through the ketogenic diet. I have had bipolar disorder 2 for decades. I went all in and to my great surprise I was out of the depression after a week. It seemed like a miracle. After 7 wonderful weeks I had a huge setback. I remain faithful to the diet and hope it does its job. Are there people with the same experience?

    • @Yenasmo62

      100%. K try to stick to mostly keto as much as possible. I have BP2 - went carnivore after a bad depression and got out within a few days vs a few months… I now go hardcore carnivore with fasting/OMAD when I feel a tickle of a low coming.
      My hypomania seems to be stable now too. I’d say I’m 75% keto with some days of carnivore/high fat just to ensure I stay stable. Love it. No more meds either.

    12:25 that's what I'm dealing with here with the public mental health system. My psychiatrist can't offer diet counseling or therapies even if she did know anything about it because it's not evidence based and they have to do everything evidence based.

    The depth of ketosis definitely matters and it's high for me!!! I can't imagine why being above 3 would be bad?? At that level I feel wonderful. That bipolar "anxiety" disappears at a lower level but the higher levels feels so good. That was interesting to hear about bipolar type anxiety. I have that so badly and for some reason it's far far worse as soon as it gets dark. I was just saying over on twitter that Bipolar is a misnomer, the name should be returned to manic depression because that's what it is and is occuring in a mix. I was sad when she talked about all the weight loss. I'm taking Depakote and rapidly gaining weight which keto is not helping at all. I have to stop this somehow and fast.

    • @btudrus

      Have you tried to combine keto with a) regular excercise, b) time-restricted-eating.
      And have you tried carnivore/keto?

    • @fionen
      @fionen Рік тому +2

      @@btudrus People always fail to understand what a problem depakote really is. For one thing, it's impossible to fast on depakote. Depakote creates a torturous hunger, binge eating, etc. Others may have another experience but I cannot fast on depakote nor can I lose weight on it. The only reason I'm not 300lbs is because I ride my bike so much and the only reason I can do that is because I take less depakote than I really need to control symptoms because if I take that much I don't want to move and literally sit and stare at the wall all day while I eat and eat and eat. I can eat until I'm completely stuffed and unable to move and STILL feel like I'm starving. People need to understand that there is something about this drug that interferes with metabolism and gods know what else. I've quit the drug now and my hunger has gone way down and weight loss is happening now. Psych drugs are common but they are hard core powerful and they screw a lot of things up.

      Have you looked into the work of Joanna Moncrieff at all? She has a talk on the myth of the chemical cure which is really good. About the best thing I've done for so called bipolar disorder which I dont seem to have anymore is clean up my diet, drink very rarely and stay away from anything psychoactive including all so called medications.

    • @fionen

    medication is the only way to treat bipolar, we need to provide patients the options to try the right medication, quite frankly many don't care. finding a way to specifically define symptoms and then giving the exact medication wold be game changing however the medical community is driven by money.
