I worked at the boardwalk from 2008-2017. I was a ride operator for the new haunted castle ride on its very first day open to the public. The old one used to break down all the time lol. I worked all the rides from the pirate ship to sea swings (first half of the park). Some of the best years of my life working there as a teenager and meeting tons of people. It’s where I met my husband who worked as a security guard at the time and now we bring our kids there. It will always have a special place in my heart ❤️

I was disappointed if the old dark ride didnt break down. I think as a kid we hoped it would break down while we were on the ride. It still has nostalgia for me, I miss the old bird. It was a very dark ride.

My grandma and her family used to come by train from San Francisco starting in the 1930’s. She then took my mom and her siblings (once they moved to San Jose) starting in the 1960’s, and then they took me and my brother starting in the 1990’s! I plan to someday take my children here and pass on our tradition on for our “Local Disneyland” 😁

Looks like a great boardwalk! I liked the Cave Train, lots of fun details. It was good weather when you went.

I took some really cool photos a few months ago before the opening season. It was of the Ferris wheels with all the buckets removed for refurbishing.

crazy how some of the heads in the clown room at 47:04 are from Killer Clowns from Outer Space (fun fact: the movie was shot in the nearby town of Watsonville, CA)

Longtime fan! You recently visited the Lehi ancient life museum, which is around where I live, but I was in Santa Cruz while you were there. Now you are in Santa Cruz while I’m back home! I just think that is wild!

I remember coming here in 2016, and was a little scared to go on the cave train because of the monster at the end of the ride.

My sister and I got on the Cave Train together in 1966 and my uncle said that the Grizzley Bear inside was real so at the last moment I jumped out, leaving my sister to go on the trip alone. Later, I became an operator and drove the train many times. It was a real bear, but it was stuffed.

Oh man, I am suddenly homesick lol! The Giant Dipper was my first big kid rollercoaster, and I was able to take my younger sisters on it for their first big kid roller coaster too. Might be time to visit again :)
