I think this might work for my idea. I want to make a gold mine scene and a miner with a pick moving the pick up and down as if hitting the rock with it.
I really like this! Unless I'm missing it somewhere in your video list, could you maybe revisit this project and give us a step by step of its making, please? I'd like to add it to my next years Halloween decorations.

I always get a dreadful loud buzzing noise whenever I slow the motor down, I notice that you don't have this issue in this recording, was that incidental or did you do something to avoid that problem? Many thanks

No matter what props I make I always seem to struggle to get the linkage lengths right to get the correct movement/positioning and this is ends up taking so much time to figure out. What is your principle method? Many thanks.
Nom nom I really dont have a method. I work out mechanical issues, through trial and error. Sometimes I have to drill a few new holes, in linkage, until I finally find the perfect setup. Keep on working at it, and you will figure it out.

That is what I do but as i had/have zero "engineering" knowledge I was hoping that there was some sort of method of measurement for length/height which would have made it all so clinically/scientifically easier. On a plus i no longer need to get frustrated with myself as i spend hours struggling to get what i was aiming for. Many thanks for your replies i very much appreciate them and i gain something everytime. Next years haunt for me will be awesome and it will be down to you and a couple of other channels for helping with answers, tips and your props to learn from or inspire for new twists. 👍

Dont the metal straps experience fatigue and snap eventually from the bending?
Perhaps a clotch strap would work better?

Nom nom I have never had that issue. I have heard of other people having a noisy motor, at slow speeds. It may be a defect in your motor.
is the variance in PVC size absolute or was just material on hand?
Just material I had on hand.
Good day. Are the "arms" made of heated and pressed pvc or pressed metal conduit? Also, how has it held up over the last 5 years?
All pvc. It has held up great. Have never had an issue with it.
