- In this video, I show you a fascinating antique histological slide of a monkey’s tail, likely from the 19th century. The cross-section reveals a variety of tissues, including muscles, tendons, bones, fat, blood vessels, and hair follicles. These diverse structures offer a comprehensive view of the tail's anatomy, highlighting how the muscles move the tail and the role of tendons and bones. Fat serves as insulation, while blood vessels nourish the tissues. The slide’s well-preserved details, combined with polarized light, provide an insightful look into the complexity of this specimen.

i totally see why you love this slide, MH and am very happy for you. if i find any histology antique ones, i shall send them to you
Thank you! Very appreciated!
Again...great!!
can u observe the exolot biology under the microscope... ?
pretty interesting. i wonder how can we make a slide that flat of a bone?
How many slices can one get from a monkey tail? Cool viddy!
I actually had to do a bit of research here, to find out how long a tail can be. The length varies widely among monkeys. Assuming the tail is 10cm long, and a section thickness of 10 micrometers, there are 100 sections in 1 mm. Multiply that by 100 again, to get to the 10cm. So there are 100x100=10 000 sections out of one tail.... :-)
Oh,, that's enough for entire microbiologists of USA 😂😂... Felt sad because of that money 😢

A tail less monkey.. oh it's my friend 😂❤
u know what, every time i see the cell and this mass of mini structure bizarre cell, i always wonder same as when i see the star.... when we look at the star, we know the random event is happen, but the random event is occur while the winds and ion is giving the order for the rotation to form a structure... i think this is how life is happen, we are mini mini sturcture of planet collapose and combine into something , become a life of creature....
So much information in a slide and in a short video. I took histology maybe 10 years ago and I still recognise most structures! But the muscle and tendon i didn’t recognise because I don’t remember the cross sections
possible future video on portable field microscopes? mycology season is coming up, and a backpack scope would solve many of my problems.
Wonderful find! lovey high quality video Thanks!
