I learned that here in Central Europe, A-TACS ix does a pretty good all terrain / alle season job (better than Multicam) and especially in dry and tan woodland areas, it's outstanding. Also in green, summertime woodland areas, it's often better than A-TACS FG. Best regards from Germany
Wow, just wow, camouflage gear came along way from, from the technologies of WWII to nowadays, it just getting better and better by the year. Good vid Brent keep up the good work and keep it coming.
This was really good, Atacs IX is flat out awesome, I can't wait to see you do a video of it in a heavily wooded summertime environment, i.e. a "jungle" environment, I'm sure it'll be great there also. I bet it would even work in a desert environment.
Yeah man, I want to see it during the spring as well. I don't think its going to make the desert cut though. I already have 16 patterns on the blotter of that and I'm trying to narrow it down. The more patterns I do when I go to the desert the less scenes I'll have for each pattern.
Watched both part 1 & 2. I believe it may be slightly more effective in winter but is very effective in the summer as well. This camo seems to transition in sunlight and shadow almost equally and mimic the environment.
Brent0331 Definitley...I didnt even see green until you got close to the camera...Very effective, all terrain, most season camo right here...This made me buy the uniform last night lol
This one is a winner. I kept having to back the video up after you moved to see you emerge again. I thought the Pencott Greenzone was one of the most effective patterns yet but it seems like you’d have to be in just the right time of year. This though I think is going to be a great all rounder. I like it better than multi cam for those of us in a woodland environment. This pattern seems to present in a way that sinks into whatever dominant color you happen to be around. Even as you moved between light and shadow. It’s kind of weird, but good. 👍
I love this camo. It's all terrain for the north half of the east coast, even has good greys to match volcanic rock in some situations. The tiger stripe base helps with the blending of foliage in an amazing way.
Nicely done. I am reminded of the old adage concerning real estate; location, location, location. Both this and the FG type work well in vegetation and broken shadow. Keep up the good work.
Agreed; the standard Marine BDU's have that digital camo made up of squares at it's horrible at both break-up and matching colors and has no mimicry. If you're gonna go with a pattern that foregoes mimicry, it has to perform well in the other two aspects. This pattern is simple, but like all A-TACS patterns it works surprisingly well. I'm always impressed by a successful military pattern.
Matthew Pham MARPAT is definitely better than ACU or UCP, but it's still far from perfect. It works well on digital camera as the patterns disrupts the outline against recognition software, but it doesn't work well at all against the human eye. The main problem is the same that most if not all military pattern have: the pattern is too repetitive and blocks up; the pattern on your legs is identical to the pattern on your torso, so there isn't any breakup between the two - no contrast. A hunting pattern doesn't repeat, essentially removing your body parts. On top of that, MARPAT and other military patterns are printed on low-quality fabric with little to no waterproofing; when it gets wet, it turns almost black making the pattern relatively useless - hunting patterns are printed on waterproof gear and the pattern itself doesn't change with the weather. Get yourself a pair and go test it with a friend; buddy of mine (got discharged for Narcolepsy after boot) swore by MARPAT and talked it up and down the wall about how effectively it disrupts outlines, so we went out to the woods and tested it against a hunting pattern (Realtree AP) and he ate his words instantly. I'd still take it over any solid color like Nutria or OD, but give me the choice of almost any other pattern - military or hunting - and I'd never choose MARPAT.
Digital cameras have recognition to focus on individual items based on outlines; otherwise, everything in the image becomes a blur. Digital camo does its job by disrupting the outline against digital cameras, making it very useful against drones, range-finders/scopes, etc. One of the main reasons the pattern seems effective in the video mentioned is that the camera itself has a difficult time recognizing the pattern, causing it to blur and disappear; it's not a good indicator of how effective the pattern is to the human eye. It depends who/what you're trying to conceal yourself from, to be fair. I'm also quite picky and a truly good pattern to me needs to work at all ranges; MARPAT woodland blocks up at close range and long range, so its only effective range is mid. If you're going to go with a digital pattern, I'd suggest Russia's SURPAT.
Much better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be with too much black and green, but the colors are so pale, that it really did not matter much. Very effective IMHO. Nice day!!
As always brother you deliver another great video. This pattern was very effective. I would love to get a set of this for my collection. I love my Atacs AU pattern but this one is way better for my environment here in central GA. Keep up the great work.
I am impressed by the performance of iX pattern. I can't wait to see how dose in a greener environment. Also looking forward to seeing the Atacs FGX as well. Also I stumbled across a company called Sniper Dynamics and they have a pattern called Stalkland that looks like it could have a lot of potential.
Got me on three of them. I'm usually really good at picking things out like this. I'm red green color deficient. This was the best camo that worked against my eyes anyway.
Really like these videos, I always hit pause and try to figure out where you're at but I only get it about half the time. Thanks for making these, very professionally done.
Wow! I don't know what to say... I've been watching your videos for a long time and today, was the first time I couldn't spot you. To be honest, I spotted you at 07,30 and the next one at 08,20 with a strong doubt. A-TACS iX is impressive!!! Thank you!
At about 9:56 I could make out your cover. There was one time that I could hear you moving but I still couldn't make you out. When you knelt nearly every time you would almost disappear with the exception of the sun on your lower legs. In the environment you were in, that is an outstanding pattern to me. Maybe others think different, but I like it. I am looking forward to further videos on this pattern. I'm curious about a high desert environment. Also a snowy forest area like up here in MN. Good video. Semper Fi!
Thanks brother for what you do. I was really looking into this pattern the past few months and here is the video. It will be interesting to see how it does in the green environment.
I've owned a full set since A-TACS put it out, but not having the camera gear to see what it actually looks like out in the wild, I'm glad you finally did a video on it. One thing the camera doesn't show is just how much faux 3-D the guys in Georgia managed to get into a 2-D print. Just hope they get some of the FG-X and AU-X out into the mainstream soon.
Another very informative video..im liking that pattern. ATACS makes some very good patterns and colors that work well. I must say they are my favorite and seem to be most effective. Especially here in Missouri. Brent, thank you.
Thanks brother, if your in Missouri man you should go train with One Shepherded in the Fall. I'm looking to go up there during that time. Damn good training there.
Hey Brent, any chance on testing Russia's SURPAT or Solvenia's SloPat? They seem like they'd be pretty effective in your environment when the vegetation gets thick.
This was surprisingly effective, although I'm not yet convinced you didn't simply just do a better job of hiding behind things this time. Still, I'd say it's in the ballpark of AOR2, which is impressive.
I'm liking what I don't see. Ha, ha, ha! Very effective. The darks do not look un-naturally black and the light colors do not flare up to brightly. I would run out and buy some, if I did not already have a set.
Brent0331 no man thank you cause nobody does vids like these and it helps really does i mean these patterns are not cheap and it's really nice to see them in action before a purchase.....honestly the one camo that had me suprised the most was the O.D. green i couldn't believe how much a solid color would blend in so well hats off to you man thanks again.
living in the pacific nw's this camo will work great but I was surprised how well it worked in your "Neck of the woods". I can now see this in Eastern Oregon where it's dryer "Do able".
wow... I only spotted you in the 3rd and 2nd last ones because i could see more shadow than the rest of the environment, even then i was barely sure until you moved. Most of the time what i thought was you was just a log casting a shadow or a mound of foliage lol. Well worth the money, i can see this working in the spring and summer as long as you keep low or into the right colored bracken. Environment background and shadow are the key giveaways in any situation, your skills at hiding are superb. The dry environment reminds me of here ipswich, Australia, very similar environment year round.
To be honest I didn't think this was going to do that well this time of year. It really does have a greenish hue to it so I thought it would be better during the spring/summer. However, it seems to hold its own here, we'll see what happens in the spring/summer.
i'm honestly a bit dumbfounded at how well this pattern worked in this environment... if you weren't moving, i couldn't pick you out. even after the initial movement, as soon as you stopped, the breakup was highly effective IMO. looking at the pattern up close, i would have never thought it would do so well in this environment. BZ to ATACS and BZ to you Brent
Good enough. Especially when crouching or otherwise no standing man form. Might be more seasonally effective with some seasonal vegetative cover woven in. Good video. Best
Great camouflage! It breaks up the silhouette amazingly. Have you thought about doing comparisons videos? Two patterns in the same shot seeing which one performs better?
I personally didn’t like any kind of ATACS...but this has more colors to blend besides the 2 color brush stroke. This seems to be more of a better woodland and all around camo in the areas I am in...other than that, PENCOTT Bandlands is so far the most versatile in so many environments.
Great pattern can't wait to see it after the change of seasons. On a separate issue brother, your AO is so familiar I can almost anticipate where you are going to pop out of. If you can, find a new area to film out of for a few videos. Just a friendly suggestion. It's good to see you back making videos Brent.
Brent0331 Yeah, it may not be that great. I thought the Woodland did very well in the fall, and CCE seems to be a more tan/brown version of Woodland. Thought it kind of made sense.
First, I'd like to say thanks for the video Brent. I greatly appreciate the videos you create. As far as the atacs ix is concerned I think this is the camo I have been looking for. I live in the northern Appalachia area and I am looking for the best camouflage I can find for multiple terrains and for year round or almost year round. So far Atacs ix has my attention.
Nice. This pattern is definitely more effective than I expected...I thought it would be a tad more green and stand out a but, but it seems to blend into this type of environment very well...I've gotten pretty good at these by now, but I still had some difficulty finding you more often than not with this one. I found you once, at about 5:23 because I could see the boonie cover. That was the only one that I could definitely pick you out right away though. Twice I was looking, and said "hmmm...I don't know, maybe here-" and then immediately, like a split-second after I said that, you fired from the spot that I was pointing at...Once at 6:46, I actually pointed at my screen and saw the muzzle flash right on the tip of my finger, and then almost the same thing again at about 9:30, right near where my cursor was pointing. Good stuff haha.
+Brent0331 I'm not saying you should exactly sell out, because it could be very beneficial to the companies, but contact them, email them your videos and see if they can at least send one to you to make a video, you might open new doors as camouflage tester for new shit. Maybe even design with all the inspiration of camouflage you have seen. Make sure there is not a contract of making you say certain things. It should be a simple they send you the shit, you test the shit and then you give your fact based opinion of the camouflage effectiveness in environment. You are already helping these companies sell and teaching patriots how to use camouflage with the most effective pattern for their environment. You never seem to stop serving Americas purpose.
Also in a few weeks when its more lush green or even in between with budding flowers. If you aren't in Nevada still would like to see ATACS iX tested in the green and if possible in between season change. Like you got summer, then fall with all different leaf colors still some green then you got mid fall where everything is yellow, brown and orange, then here you got deep fall/mid winter without snow.
Great job on thr video, I could only spot you in one or two frames. I was gonna go with ATACS FG, but it seems like ATACS iX is clearly the way to go. Very impressive stuff.
Ummmmmmmmm, I guess I get to be the lone dissenter. The big swaths of green made the pattern stick out really bad IMO especially against the the tans and browns in direct sunlight. I'd be curious how well this pattern will do in spring/early summer. Great presentation as always. Keep em coming Gunny!!
That's why I like it ... a lot ! The 3D effect on it just works. I actually tested it in a autumn/ winter woodland setting, standing up, next to a trail, about 2 m away from it. A couple was walking and turned their heads to see where the noise I just made came from....they were looking straight at me, but didn't see me. I was wearing the iX TOP and the UA shemagh from 0241Tactical, and a rather floppy operators cap in FG. Had a pack on my back, covered in 0241Tactical's pack cover, FG. Didn't wear any tactical pants, just pair of Fjäll Räven pants...forgot the name of it, but it was in a rather dark brown/ grey color. It workes, have used it in spring/summer, summer/ autumn, various environments... it does what they say it does.
German Splinter tarn could also be interesting to see in winter time, but I know, that you have A LOT of plans all ready, so........ But nice day once again. :o)
Yeah, that's probably not going to happen. As you said I have a lot of projects coming up. Most notably going to Nevada to film in the Desert. That's going to be a good one.
very very cool stuff. i cant describe it but your camo videos really fire up my imagination. i appreciate all the videos you do and the effort involved in making them. i hope you enjoy makin them because they are cool as fuck to watch
Nice ive been waiting for this one, also might want to consider a higher definition camera, keep up the good work! Edit: Fuckin 5:40 made me kick the damn table
I only spotted you in the last 2 takes. I am very surprised, A-TACS doesn't seems to have even the right colours to conceal in this environment. I wonder if it is helped by the winter "shady" lighting or it is some properties with the gamma of its colours! Great video as always! p.s i am still curios about a comparison with a flecktarn in this brown environment.
Thanks for these, I have enjoyed all the camo testings I've viewed. I feel like I will have a PhD in finding sneaky bastards pretty soon. All joking aside, these are great. Thanks for doing them.
Good stuff Brent! Hey question did they ever give you a class on how to walk silently in the woods especially like would apply for hunting when the leaves are falling and it sounds like you're stepping on a bunch of potato chips? Any help in that area...would be appreciated!
Its almost impossible in that environment with all the dead leavings. Just walk slowly heel rolling to toe as softly and smoothly as possible. That's really the best you can do to mitigate the sound as best as possible.
you should have contest where people do camo videos to try impress you, with their skills to hide with give or take any rifles or not. just as question how well they do I need to test my self only got 3 or 4 spots I could pull off my self. though I do wonder if I do okay, could I send you video test my efforts and camo gear? though I lack a rifle anything like that but can do vest start battle rig. nothing to go with it I normally see doing survivalists invisible as main objective, than combat as primary goal but hope can switch off world went south really bad. thanks brent for the videos
I'll get couple my gear set ups arranged as mix old army bdu pattern civilian did I altered and hunting with alice gear I found. the pattern before scorpio pattern not digital acu style I altered. I also got get a camera person for video got no tripod or gear other the not great camera either but should work. thought testing my low sound springer bb gun as I thought it be small game food for the family if world went side ways real bad. get food trapping. I avoid certain views of stuff to easy seen wrong these days.
I find it genuinely entertaining to pause at each scene, scan and take a guess.
Yeah its like "wheres waldo"😂
I would say A-TACS is hands down the best camo out there. It’s amazing stuff
It works good at summer, winter, woodland, grassland, urban areas - I would say that A-Tacs ix is the real MULTIcam.
Don't 4get Fall Season & Spring Season in the Wilderness as well!
@@Geyer70 it's true, I agree with your opinion
Yet 6 years later it's basically impossible to find except one company that want's over $150 for pants.
@@TheChubbyKid same issue here, some for around 100 bucks but the older cammo from them are cheap
Thanks for the test and feedback Brent! Much appreciated!
This is probably the best pattern you've displayed as of yet. Impressive.
I learned that here in Central Europe, A-TACS ix does a pretty good all terrain / alle season job (better than Multicam) and especially in dry and tan woodland areas, it's outstanding.
Also in green, summertime woodland areas, it's often better than A-TACS FG.

Thanks for watching.
This channel never fails to impress.
Thanks man. I wonder how much money I've spent over the last few years buying these uniforms.
@@Brent0331 Don't ever sit down and figure that out, just be glad U have so MUCH KOOL CLOTHES!!
Looks a bit like Tigerstripe. I was sceptical about its performance in that dead winter vegetation, but it seems to hold up nicely.
Yup, that was my thoughts too.
Between this and the old German splittertarn they have to be some of the best camo patterns you have tested that I have watched, so far at least.
Wow, just wow, camouflage gear came along way from, from the technologies of WWII to nowadays, it just getting better and better by the year. Good vid Brent keep up the good work and keep it coming.

Brent0331 no problem Brent, anytime.

highly impressed with this...Whatever color your next to from a distance, the pattern seems to take on that color the most
Weird right? I didn't think it would do that well because it really does have a greenish hue to it.
Brent0331 Definitley...I didnt even see green until you got close to the camera...Very effective, all terrain, most season camo right here...This made me buy the uniform last night lol
Brent0331 I kept thinking that too..it seems to have a lot of greens, until you disappear in earth tones
Well done as always, it performed better then I expected in such a dead environment.
Yeah I was surprised, with so much green I thought it would be best suited for the spring. Seems like its proving to be pretty versatile.
This one is a winner. I kept having to back the video up after you moved to see you emerge again. Yep, always a good upload. Never disappointing.

I must admit that I am pretty impressed by A-TACS. Thanks
Nicely done. I am reminded of the old adage concerning real estate; location, location, location. Both this and the FG type work well in vegetation and broken shadow. Keep up the good work.

Thanks brother.
Great video. It helps me when U start thinking about more modern camo
Found this because I was debating having a hammock done in the pattern. Was not expecting to have to find where I'm getting shot at from lmao!
This pattern was great. I'd like to see CCE in a winter woodland environment.
Man I don't think i'm going to get to that. Honestly speaking though I cant see that performing too well during this time of the year.
Thanks for watching and commenting brother.
That was the only one that I could definitely pick you out
right away though.
Good stuff haha.
lol nice. Thanks for watching man.
Thanks for another great video, I've learned a lot through your channel and look forward to the next one!
Thanks brother. Next is Kryptek Highlander, stay tuned.
Excellent video brother! I love the iX pattern. I’m waiting on that new FG/AU iX stuff to come out, that stuff looked awesome.
Thanks man, I look forward to seeing those pattern as well. As expensive as they are though it'll probably be a while before I get my hands on them.
Brent0331 they should send you some on them!
it would be a good promotion move for both you and them to let you test it.
Like you got summer, then fall with all different leaf colors still some green then you got mid fall where everything is yellow, brown and orange, then here you got deep fall/mid winter without snow.
wow pretty damn impressive in this environment
Looks like a tiger stripe pattern you can wear all year. Perfect for the mountains of NC i bet. Love it nice video!
Thanks brother.
Great job on thr video, I could only spot you in one or two frames. I was gonna go with ATACS FG, but it seems like ATACS iX is clearly the way to go. Very impressive stuff.
I'll be testing IX in the spring environment very soon, standby!
Thanks brother.
Honestly. What did you think of the pattern?
Nice
Like a potentially violent version of Where's Waldo. Great stuff, keep it up!
lol
That is a cool pattern. must have.
Great video, Thank you Gunny
Thanks man.
Cannot wait for the Nevada desert camo videos, really interesting what you will bring, and how the camo's will perform out there. :o)
A-TACS never seems to disappoint. Just looks like gray tree bark at 20ish meters.
very very cool stuff. i cant describe it but your camo videos really fire up my imagination. i appreciate all the videos you do and the effort involved in making them. i hope you enjoy makin them because they are cool as fuck to watch
Thought the green would flag your position. Wouldn’t have thought for the dominant colors that it would blend in.
You'll also notice that the A-TACS IX Pattern has that Tiger Stripe look 2 it!
ok that pattern impressed me
Not bad huh. This is a hard environment to blend into too, I was surprised with this pattern because it has an overall greenish hue to it.
Nice ive been waiting for this one, also might want to consider a higher definition camera, keep up the good work!
Edit: Fuckin 5:40 made me kick the damn table
Thanks, the video is filmed in 1080p.
nice been waiting for this one, thanks Brent
Thanks for watching.
Id like to see how effictive this camo patter can be with foliage incorporated into it
I only spotted you in the last 2 takes.
Thanks man. The Flecktarn probably isn't going to happen this winter, I just have too much on the plate as it is already.
Been waiting for this one...I'll have a set soon
Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks for watching.
Great vid , it is a great camo indeed.
Looks pretty good!
Excellent!
Incredible!
Hey Brent could you do a aux video? Thanks
you should have contest where people do camo videos to try impress you, with their skills to hide with give or take any rifles or not. just as question how well they do I need to test my self only got 3 or 4 spots I could pull off my self. though I do wonder if I do okay, could I send you video test my efforts and camo gear? though I lack a rifle anything like that but can do vest start battle rig. nothing to go with it I normally see doing survivalists invisible as main objective, than combat as primary goal but hope can switch off world went south really bad. thanks brent for the videos
Thanks man, have at it, I'll watch it.
I also had lost my night vision monocular to use in my set up it was not best better than nothing.
