My old boss (when I did upholstery work full time) told me that the upholstery guys are the last to see the money.
The customer will have had spent LOTS of money and time on their car and they have the motor and trans and body and paint etc done....and more than likely have gone over budget and have seem the light at the end of the tunnel...and are itching to just get in and drive...so they have the want to just make it happen as quick as possible and if it costs too much or takes too long....there is always the option to just tint the windows real dark if you don't want the interior to be a sore thumb compared to the rest of the car.
    Great work!

Gorgeous. Love how you tell the important points while you proceed. Using patterns to plan the material and sewing the foam all around on each section. The little nip with scissors on the material for an unmistakable, permanent mark where you had used chalk for planning alignment of each pattern. The measured allowance to give the pleat depth and lines drawn on foam to ensure the seat and back pleats stay aligned. The pulls and the glue that keep the pleats in alignment long after the job has left your shop. So many things that would need to be learned from mistakes if we did not have your advice from all the years of experience. Thank you, my friend, for taking time and effort to explain so much for those of us who only speak English.

I often wonder what your own car looks like. If you are like my brother, he builds beautiful mansions for other people. His house has been under construction for over 10 years!

I have plastic but I am not sure I am using the wrong plastic.. picos y doesn't work good on foam . Can you tell me the plastic that you use please..

@@upholsterytips I use 8mm clear plastic held in place with pins I have used can spray glue too to hold both work good. I use a black marker to outline my pattern I want on the foam first then when I apply plastic I just need to mark it out:) Then add for seam allowance.

@@upholsterytips you might want to try 12 gauge clear vinyl. It's been useful for me sometimes, but most of the time I make patterns like you do

Great channel! Really enjoying it so far. What foot is that on your sewing machine? I've only worked with the walking foots at the local community college so far, that one looks like it has guide maybe?
