I like that, if Europe and Japan have the best high speed rail, then why can’t America have the same thing instead of an outdated rail system. Seems like we like to have and keep old things instead of moving forward.
Airlines could charge more for tickets and make seating less crowded. The "cattle cars" promote a very stressful environment that leads to anger and frustration. Nobody wants to pay more but that is not going to stop people from flying. Airlines would make the same money and passengers would be less stressed. Win Win
That's what first and business class seating does. The point is that without "true competition" there is no pressure on airlines to do better. Thus, they can treat customers like garbage and still make money because the option is to fly or not to fly.
@@eblackSTL that was my point. Completely eliminate "basic economy" and have more room and less people on plane with more leg room etc. Raise prices to maintain same profit as when airlines jam people together. Easier on flight attendants too. Nobody wants to pay more...but they will as like you said...there are no options
If the U.S. Gov't can _demand_ that U.S. Banks submit to financial stress tests _AND_ maintain financial reserves sufficient to ensure bank survival in a deep crisis, then the U.S. Gov't can demand the same of U.S. Airlines. _No_ _more_ _Airline_ _Bailouts!_
The passengers on airlines are the problem. People are so rude and inconsiderate. I have to deescalate altercations almost every time I board a plane. I don’t know if it’s the people or airlines fault. We need to start weighing and having a dress code for passengers or they lose their flying privileges.
I imagine an AI program that contains all laws and precedents and judgements in past legal cases. Put in your data to come up with a ruling which would be based on objective material...not the political biases of, say, The Supreme Court !
Please research the social consequences of the advent of social media, and how things changed after ~2014. AI has the potential to do worse things. Yet, as usual, we are in a great hurry to monetize new technologies with no regard for their social-political consequences. Capitalism is running wild.
I disagree professor. Over decades govt has not done anywhere near enough to control oligopolies . Not in telephone business, energy provisions like gas and electric or petroleum products like gasoline. Sir, you are wrong. Govt has been allowing and losing to corporate sectors and we consumers have been forced to pay and pay more. They sir, are out of control and you don’t see that ?
This professor doesn’t have a model about how anything really works, and Hari does not know what questions to ask (podcasts are better due to this) Electricity distribution is low innovation, AI is not. We have chatGPT because Microsoft invested, if they can’t make money, where will next OpenAI come from? What is the problem definition? We’re a startup cheaply using OpenAI and my parents use chatGPT for free. What access or cost problem is there?
I've tried and tried to watch your program but you always show the liberal end of things you never give the opposite side of the aisle a chance so I wish you the best of luck thank you
Sounds like you understand that it’s important to try escape our information bubble in this day and age, being willing to challenge our own perspective or how we see “reality”. Respecting that there’s multiple view points in the world and trying to understand that diversity - the difference but also what’s in common - is important. I think we all just want to be able to enjoy our life with family and friends freely with enough so we’re not struggling to get by. Also recognising that no news is “objective” each news source comes with its own perspective and being aware of that - critical of your news source - is also key. Good on you for challenging you own perspective 👍
High speed rail. Get rid of binge flying from small regional airports.

Airlines comes after 12:30
Thank you!

Go to 12:15 for discussion of the airline industry.

Nice discussion 👌
You can pay to avoid all this. That means it will never end.

Love Hari!❤
He is badly wrong, it should only be for tech/corporate use, not for ever single business, particularly the lower paying.

Seriously disappointed with this interview. Poor questioning and vague answers. I am surprised that this was even aired.
Smart!
AI stands for Airline Industry?
I don’t like to fly because I have to give up my rights.
Your rights stop where the rights of others begin
