James if you can add a layer of polythene below your concrete it will stop the ground drawing all the moisture from the concrete, good luck on the concrete pour and look forward to the next video 👍
James your very very welcome I think it’s amazing! And I’m a butcher by trade too bud!!! USDA local butcher!!! Your doing a fantastic job bud!!! It’s very very rewarding watching something go too nothing then turn into something amazing!!!!!!
Happy days so look forward to a Sunday evening to watch a video and you have made a nice midweek one thank ya mother for the rabbits 🐇 cracking on well done James
Doing a great great job James you are a proper grafter just on miner comment to make you using con rest blocks for chairs are a bit large you can get proper chairs steel or plastic and adjustable still chairs full size blocks lots of non jointed voids any way maybe not that important good luck with it all cracking job 👌👌👌
Looking good mate 👍🏻 I’d put a membrane down if you can as the gravel could draw all the moisture out of your concrete making it a weak slab. Or wet down your gravel before you start pouring. Anyway great video and it’s going to look epic 😀
That's what we call cutting rebar institu 👍👍 great job man plus loads of cover under the rebar plus over the rebar, sound job that reinforced slab is going know where man over all 6inch concrete man absolutely solid with that rebar, great vid James and definitely carnt wait for the concrete slab vid 👌👌👍👍👍💪💪👊🏻👈
You are doing an amazing job James! It’s interesting to see how it’s coming along in each video! It will be so worth it this summer when you can sit back there & watch the koi in the new pond! Take care & happy construction 🚧
I didn’t bother with any hardcore under my slab. Rather than have 3 inches of hardcore and 7 inch base, I just went for 10 inch base, for a thicker/stronger base. Ideally you’d want to have put a membrane down to stop the moisture/cement being drawn out of the concrete into the soil and weakening the concrete mix. I also used proper plastic rebar risers, this also helps prevent weak spots in the concrete. However, good effort pal, keep it up. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
Hi James your doing a great job, take note of the good advice re a plastic membrane before you put your concrete in it will work. Looking forward to your next video.
Literally binge watched all your episodes over the past few days 😂 can’t wait to get started on my own pond this summer! Learned loads and I’ll definitely be using your videos as a reference! Happy days!
Wow! it's comin on now mate. Just check with someone who knows mate, but I don't think you want them blocks under the rebar as I think it could weaken the concrete mate. I think bricks or you can buy special supports for it. fantastic progress though. Credit to you mate. Take care, Terry.
Deadly pal I'd use the stands you can mix them beside the base and swivel them around also the gravel is going to move pour in the one spot and spread it out tampering as you go
What a pleasant surprise I didn’t expect a video from you tonight But it was a really good video you are doing a cracking job it going to look class mate 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great video buddy, thankyou for your time, absolutely enjoyed since I been watching, by the way what no lube lol, looking great nice and tidy especially after a days work, keep going and you are smiling brilliant, but I want more lubing lol.
Well done James, iv been watching for ages but never commented, just wanted to say that your very inspirational and so hard working 👍🏻👍🏻 fair play your pond will be great.
Another great update as always, everything coming along great. Be careful with the rebar that it is not touching the bottom drain pipe work haven forbid you have any movement in the slab and the rebar cracks a pipe 💦
Didn’t expect to see another video this week. Really enjoy watching and my mrs is getting into your videos too now, All I can say is blimey you do work hard, the pond is coming on now but your gonna need a nice holiday after its done.
It's a bit of a moot point now but instead of all the hassle of doing the rebar you could have got some super plasticiser/water reducer for the concrete added fibres to the mix and just tipped the concrete into place. It allows you to make a concrete with a low water to cement ratio that goes of very hard like granite and has decent flexural strength it also runs well due the the plasticiser. The worst thing to do to concrete is to add to much water. This makes the concrete shrink and crack and ultimately weak. It's tempting to just keep adding water to the mix to make it sloppy and easy to spread/level but if possible try not to do this. Just thought I'd send you my thoughts for future reference. Keep up the good work 👍
@@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 OK no worries, it's not a criticism, just thought it would be handy info for you maybe in the future. What your doing is great your making a good job of things and I'm looking forward to seeing the end result 👍
@@gixxermaan yea definitely thanks tbh I don’t no how it’s all done I am just haveing a go see what happens 😂😂 If it all goes wrong I will start over again 😂😂😂
Nice videos. I enjoy watching the progress being made. Just curious why you don't just drain the waste directly into the sewer system you had to create and bypass the round pump station (and not rely on another system. example, sump pump break down etc.?).
thankyou for keeping me sane, lost 6 of my kios this week and found out it was fucking cats eating them, gutted aint the word.keep up the good work fella and your kios look awsume :o)
Went over to instagram and WOW I’ll say nothing if the guys aren’t on it but WOW.
Glad to see u changed the t piece 👍 I no ppl are telling u this but please don’t put p gravel under cement brilliant content tho👌

Hi mate you need to put a plastic membrane below the concrete to stop moisture penetrating the concrete from below

Mix some SBR IN YOUR SLAB MIX, it will stop moisture being drawn and further bond the slab to the chipping bed 💪🏼👍🏻. Great work, proper job

I wondering if you going to use insulation on the inside of the pond to save you on gas (8x4 sheets kingspan 2 inch ample) 🤔
Smashing it Mate!
