YES phoebe and joey are the best.
Pheobe and ROSS imo. Yes, Ross is pathetic but he is HILARIOUS.
phoebe maybe, but chandler; there's a funny guy!
Joey and Ross
Joey and chandler
Phoebe and Chandler are my two favs because they are the most complex due to their upbringing
Honestly, that phone call scene between Mr Peanut Butter and Diane in the restaurant after Diane starts to get her life back on track is one of my favourite scenes from the entire show. It really solidified their relationship for me as one of the best in the show and I think it just shows a lovely level of caring and compassion from Mr Peanut Butter, that I long for in my own relationships in times of mental hardship.
EmilyK95 Get a Doggo. :)
SEASON 4/5 SPOILERS:
As much as I love how compassionate they are for each other, they are very incompatible. I mean Mr. Peanutbutter never listens when Diane tells him not to give her grand gestures. Mr. Peanutbutter is extroverted while Diane is more introverted. It’s why I was relieved when they got divorced and that Mr. Peanutbutter was better off with Pickles. I honestly would’ve liked Diane better with Bojack if Bojack wasn’t such a huge douchebag.
@@noonebossesthegarnet2890 Bojack would have DESTROYED her if they got together. They’re better as friends. She’s perfect with Guy.
@@noonebossesthegarnet2890 not gonna lie the same. Both of them had doubts about the marriage and part of me at least wants something to happen between them. Not as a relationship but something that roped me into their relationship more and have more weight to work with.
@@kylebear8101 That’s why I said, had Bojack not been a douchebag, they would’ve probably hit it off quite okay.
I completely agree with Wonda's rose colored glasses quote. When you love someone, they have no flaws.
So true
Idk I think if you love someone truly you can recognize their flaws and appreciate them for that anyway. She’s mentioning that because she ignored them rather than accepted them, she likes the image of him she remembers
@@MightyInHiding this guy gets it
i don’t think she was talking about love, but instead infatuation. if you actually love someone you can be realistic and know and understand someone’s flaws.
@@nataliechapel4977 thats accurate as well but there are the rare occasions where it does come from love and u recognize their flaws but choose to be indenial about it
Johnny: I really hope that their friendship will continue into season 6 and beyond
Me: there is no beyond season 6 😞😭
Bojack's arrival, and subsequent staying, in New Mexico is actually a trope that was used in late 80s/early 90s sitcoms where "the cool character" joins the already cliche family (Loving, yet grounded mother, cynical sister, socially awkward son, nincompoop father) but "in the real world." Where Bojack isn't exactly the star but he becomes as such. Think Urkel, or Cody. That's why nobody questions his suggestion to take Penny to the prom. Hell, they even do the Father gag of him already being dressed with flowers.
Pretty meta, right?
little like grimes in the simpsons but kinda reversed, but ending with the same tragic self destructive consequences
I actually use to say that the second BoJack season is not that hard on emotions. But shit, I think I forgot a lot of heavy scenes in this season...
The 11th episode of the second season has to be the hardest hitting of the entire series, maybe of any animated series at least that I've seen. After that you're left conflicted about Bojack, before that most of his actions were pretty forgivable
15:37
“season 6 and beyond”
that hurt
Great review but just to mention, Bojack let the charity money be burned as he didn't realise it was for "charity" but for "Charity", which he'd assumed was the name of Daniel Radcliffe's girlfriend! He actually had no idea what he was doing. If you rewatch it when Daniel Radcliffe says he's doing the show for charity Bojack says "Your girlfriend has a stripper name." so he wasn't aware of what he was doing, which actually makes the whole thing pretty funny 😁
Josh Haider-Smith i think bojack was perfectly aware of what he was doing, he only said that stripper line as a final dig against radcliffe.
Not to mention Bojack did it to spite him anyway because in that episode, Daniel and PB treated Bojack like a complete ass in that episode.
He absolutely knew what it was for... I have to believe that, otherwise Bojack wasn't as ruthless as I needed him to be towards Radcliffe!
Stacy Smith Elijah Wood?
@@andrewwalker9960
"ELIJAH WOOD!!?" Gets me every time.
The line where they predicted the “tag” movie was also voiced by one of the main characters of the movie
dude. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that line is the most profound thing ever.
the "when your looking at someone through rose colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags" one, every time I hear it I just wanna get it like...tattoo'd on me or something, its so fucking real.
It’s a fairly common quote.
Okay but are we not going to talk about how Sarah Lynn can identify bear fur by the taste?
We know her stepfather is a bear and their relationship already has implications....
Yeah I think that's exactly what they were implying
1:15 Beatrice says Horsin' Around wasn't Ibsen, and Ibsen is again called up in Season 5's 'Free Churro' when Butterscotch talks about how "she went to see A Doll’s House with a couple girlfriends, and now she has ideas." A Doll's House is a play about a housewife who realises that she has sacrificed things for her husband's happiness that he would never even think about sacrificing for hers. The play must have resonated with her strongly, so she must have talked about Ibsen a lot and that's why BoJack mentions Ibsen off-handedly too.
Nora, the main character of the play, says: "You [my husband] arranged everything according to your own taste, and so I got the same tastes as you, else I pretended to, I am really not quite sure which - I think sometimes the one and sometimes the other. When I look back on it, it seems to me as if I had been living here like a poor woman - just from hand to mouth. I have existed merely to perform tricks for you, Torvald. But you would have it so. You and Papa have committed a great sin against me. It is your fault that I have made nothing of my life."
In the play, Nora is able to leave her husband ("I must try and educate myself - you are not the man to help me in that. I must do that for myself."), but evidently Beatrice could not.
Wow, great catch! Thanks for commenting with this
Johnny 2 Cellos plus Butterscotch said afterwards Beatrice locked herself in the bedroom to loudly sob, despite everything we’ve seen with her father traumatizing her to never show any kind of “womanly emotion”
@@sketchyjulia Like she says, there is no cure for that.
What are YOU doing HeRe?
I'm tired of running in circles. I'm tired of running in circles. I'm tired of running in circles. I'm tired of running in circles. I'm tired of running in circles.
my computer crashed in the middle of watching this video and it displayed the message "your PC has run into a problem and needs to restart" and all I could think was "your Princess Carolyn has run into a problem and needs to restart"
oh fuck, "...until the next funeral" totally broke me
Watching Bojack season 2, episode 5... as a vegan for almost 10yrs...
SERIOUS. MINDF*CK.
😱😱😱
Another great review! I should note though that on the Let’s Find Out episode Wanda actually pressured Bojack to throw the game. He was going to win after Princess Carolyn told Bojack about Mr. Peanutbutter’s ears that give away the answers to the questions.
You're fast! I wasn't expecting this video to come out any earlier than maybe four weeks from now, but here it is. And you've posted other videos in between. But: That's not too much, man!
I've been working really hard to get back into my channel the last few weeks! Plus I've been producing Animation Investigation for Nerdist, which you should definitely check out :)
These reviews have been fun but I'm excited to get back into some other types of analysis, and after my season 3 review I've got a bunch of BoJack break downs planned
+Johnny 2 Cellos I only found out about your channel about two or three weeks ago, if I'm not completely mistaken. (I just subscribed pretty much instantly, so in case you can see when I subscribed and it was three weeks and two days ago, this still checks out.) "Nerdist" tells me something, I am pretty sure I know the channel. I'll check what channel exactly it is after watching this video and will look into "Animation Investigation" (and possibly find out that I'm familiar with it and just don't remember the name.)
Dude, you deserve so much credit! Keep up the good work! 🐴
Thank you! :)
@@Johnny2Cellos great way to end the day! (It's almost midnight in Sweden)
I’ve never seen such a beautiful man with such beautiful hair like BoJack horseman as much as I do
Oh wow thank you ❤️😊
I never clicked a video so fast
I know I'm late to the party, but I wanted to provide my two favorite quotes from this season. First of all, "What are you doing here?" had so much power behind it, not in the same way as Charlotte's delivery of one strong line, but because it was used about once an episode to gradually morph into an existential question was really incredible to me. What are we doing here? It's a really subtle way to show Bojack's changing philosophy through the season, and how by the end of season 2 he doesn't know what to do with his life to feel fulfilled. It's amazing to me because that's kind of what the show ends up being: Bojack's path to fulfillment.
The other one I wanted to mention was "I'm tired of running in circles". The gag where Bojack had to keep repeating it was amusing, to be sure, but the symbolism behind it was a lot more powerful to me. Bojack solves his problems by going back to what caused them. He got in trouble while he was drunk? Better drink the pain away. We can see really specific examples of this too, the most profound being that the season both starts and ends with him jogging up his hill, because at the end of the season, he hasn't learned any better. He's just running in circles. It even plays out in the season's main story arc, because his attempt to find meaning in life drives him back to Charlotte, who he was happy with on the set of Horsin' Around. He still craves that, but she's married, so he... goes after Penny instead. It's not healthy, it devastates a family, and it's caused by him running in circles, even to the point where he once again pursues Penny in a later episode, though this time to try and make amends.
While I agree that the episodes themselves aren't quite as powerful as some future seasons, the symbolism and storytelling through season 2 make it one of the most interesting seasons of television I've watched in a long time.
It would be fun if they made some joke about how gross would it be to eat human, cat or dog meat
honestly, within the shows universe, I think the only reason they don't eat humans and cats is cause they don't taste good, if they tasted like chicken they'd probably be food animals too
The Giggleship and the fraud who owns it remind me of PTA's The Master. I love to think it's a tribute to that film.
0:52 wait, did you say smoothie or SMOODIE?
Simon Brunner lmao
got u hahaha
It’s a mood you can DRINK!!!!

@@simonbrunner3062 with a SMOODIE, duh!
Season 2: home of the best F bomb.
I was really hoping for some big reveal that Vincent Adultman was just some deformed adult and the "top half" actually was just his kid
Do you get the "you look like jesus!" comments a lot?
Haha I've only put up like 8 videos since my hair got this long, so I haven't gotten many on UA-cam, but I do get them in person a decent amount!
@@Johnny2Cellos you should put your hair in a bun bro
I think that since the show seems to have followed a timeline that goes by current years maybe Netflix could release a bojack horseman special in like 10 years where 10 years have gone by or something like that
Great videos bro! I’m hooked keep up the great content
Thanks dude! Appreciate the kind words :)
it wasn't a smoothie it was a smoodie from PB living :P
PS: I love your hair
Oh yeah you're right! Hahaha
And thank you :)
Honestly, I enjoyed s2 but the ending of this one felt so weird with how Bojack, who nearly took advantage of a teenager, was told "it gets easier." I dunno it always felt gross.
I can't wait to see your season three review!
Just wanna say that Chickens is the most underrated episode of Bojack imo
10:01 when he cried...I lost it. And yes that's the only time Bojack cries.
The episode when he lived in New Mexico was painful to watch
Arguably my favorite Season so far.
So many moments in the whole show and yet never cried but I can relate to how shitty his childhood was.
i personally think season 2 is very underrated and people should revisit this season more than the others. (which i do) which is why i know more easter eggs in this season.
About mr Peanutbutter's grand gestures: doesn't Bojack say something about how he keeps hoping that relationships can be fixed by grand gestures at some point?
i've waited! and now i am happy! hahhahaa x) ...thank you so much for making these/your videos :)
Amazing video, great content, you’ve earned yourself a sub
At least Todd didn't get tossed to jail this time.
Such great content.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work, good going
Okay... Okay So What Do I Watch After South park and bojack horseman
Big Mouth! Season 2 dropped last night
Big mouth, rick and morty, f is for family. Maybe steven universe and gravity falls too.
Tuca and Bertie
Honestly the most scathing thing about Hollywood is how they responded to Andy Dick’s sexual harassment of basically everybody could very well be apart from the show leaking into real life
I just hate watching the ll episode bc it’s so damn dark and BoJack went too damn far
See? That show always mature, but not that mature. 😑😛
I wonder if they eat humans to
2:22 anybody else just now catching the goodnight moon reference
for me season 2 still my favorite season, however I still consider the forth season to be the best.
I love seeing Bojack from someone else's point of view
WHAT ARE YOOUUU DOIN HERE
You're an idiot... 😡
What I wonder about Vincent adultman is who are the other two kids
YEEEEES!
PS: please do a review on the movie specials!
I really like your channel 👌
Best season of the show for me.
Yeah... the first season was the weakest but has some unforgettable moments, and had a lot cutaway gags in the first episode of the series.
No, I don’t Secretariat the horse’s brother Jeffretariat was real.... I get what you mean, is that in relation to something, but still, the way you phrased it makes it feel like you don’t get jokes. Also Bojack letting that charity money burn was my favorite moment
Season 4 I think 8n my opinion is the best to rewatch multiple times
I kinda feel like Vincent is an actual adult; but we are just seeing him through Bojack's eyes.
Why else would everyone be so okay with it, and why would he have an office?
The freckles change between Kevin and Vincent, and I think the color of the braces do too.
I could just be over reading into it, but it is something I like to think on.
Haha that’s a fun idea. Raphael Bob-Waksberg said in the season 1&2 commentary that they really just wanted to leave it as vague as possible so that you don’t ever have an answer, which is why he doesn’t show up after season 2. If he’s a kid he’d be older and it would confirm which was true
bojack interesting person wwwww
3:16 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes
You should look up what negative reinforcement actually is
I never seen a grown man or a horse cry before. Also, SHUT UP!!! SHUT UP CHILDREN!!!!
have you ever wondered what happen to the kid bellow in Vincent Adultman when they sit? it must be weird...
I don't know what you're talking about! Vincent Adultman is a prominent adult busnessman! He works at the business factory.
I personally love Ben Schwartz in Jake and Amir
Super good
I imagine you've been asked this a million times, but is there a season 3 review? Did UA-cam fuck it up? Is it still on the way? Am I just blind and it's already somewhere obvious?
These are fab, I've been watching them with my dad, who is the only person I know who enjoys Bojack as much as I do.
So glad you're enjoying them :) UA-cam didn't mess it up, I just still haven't done my season 3 review yet, I'm sorry! I started doing reviews for seasons 1, 2 and 3 after Season 5 came out, and I just haven't had time to write and do my season 3 review. I promise once I get back into the channel that will be a top priority!
I know this is an old video but I just have to disagree and say that Chandler is the best friend. Fight me.
He did drink before he got famous
He drank, but not regularly and openly
I wanna kno if rutabaga gonna show up in the season finale
Have u ever reviewed season 3
No! I get asked this a lot and I feel bad that I haven't done it yet haha. I've been really busy with work and haven't been focusing on UA-cam much at the moment, but you can DEFINITELY expect a Season 3 review BEFORE season 6 later this year, I'll do a few BoJack vids leading up to the release of season 6
Where is season 3?
"Hank After Dark" is the most controversial cartoon episode ever, and "Escape From LA" is the darkest cartoon episode of the 2010s. Way? Because both episode in season 2 is really messed up and the show was supposed to be mature, but not that mature.
Mmm I think you’re alone on this one
The show is exactly as mature as the writers want it to be? Who gets to decide the show “isn’t supposed to be” that mature?
@@Johnny2Cellos It's safe to say, I never seen a grown man or a horse cry.
Man you’re really cute
What didn’t ya like about this season? Like was there anything You didn’t like?
I guess I could have liked a little bit more consistent direction for Todd, he seems to have a new insane adventure every episode. I also think that after episode 11, the 12th episode didn't deliver as much of a satisfying ending as other seasons have. It was a good story for BoJack and Todd's arc, and the final scene was perfect, but I didn't connect all that much to the orphanage storyline. This season had so much that I liked that I wanted to talk about that it was hard to fit in the few things I didn't like without adding more time to an already really long video. I actually cut out a ton of other things I talked about because the video was so long already. Sometimes I talk about the things I don't like about shows, but generally I try to keep my videos positive and talk about things that I really like. I'm not a huge fan of the tear down culture on UA-cam, so if there's something I hate, I just won't make a video about it.
Johnny 2 Cellos makes sense. I was curious is all - I agree with what you said about the tear down culture - makes people dislike everything.
I rewatched season 2 recently and just before watching the last episode, I remember it not being too satisfying after episode 11. But I enjoyed it so much more on a second watch, not sure why 😂😂 Bojack Horseman is just great in general
5:50 i dislike the chickenz episode so much i generally skip it on any rewatch. 😂 that and Fish Outta Water lmao
I get the chicken episode because I skipped it too, but why Fish out of Water? That one was amazing!
You look like a kid in my band....
Did you not review season 3?
Not yet! I'm sorry for the delay. I reviewed Season 4 and 5 when they released on Netflix, but I only reviewed Seasons 1 and 2 recently and haven't gotten around to season 3 yet.
@@Johnny2Cellos No worries. Enjoyed your other reviews, though! Can't wait for season 6 of Bojack.. the time is approaching soon!
whats with the pink lipstick?
👄
@@Johnny2Cellos no judgement, just wondered if it was a personal choice or a shows up better on camera thing
It’s actually just color correction making my natural lip color look more saturated 😂
I have a slight issue with the penny thing, yes Bojack is older and definitely more sexually experienced. However the fact that Penny didnt drink, combined with how much HE had been drinking, NOT TO MENTION how she was legally able to consent, and Bojack wasnt then I personally see this as an example of how heartbreak can make someone so easily manipulated. All that taken into account plus how you could clearly tell penny was removing bojacks clothes but he hadnt hers, at least yet. Also the fact that Bojack said no MULTIPLE TIMES comes off as a little forced from Penny.
Zak Cat Forced by the seventeen year old girl that he was a parental surrogate for? No. Saying no 4 times before saying yes does not give him bonus points. It’s especially disgusting that he just came on to her mom and was rejected, so it comes off as a filthy mix of solace in sex and revenge. He was sitting on his bed letting her take his clothes off. He is completely culpable. Legally able to consent doesn’t matter, legality is not the purgatory he lives in. He was also a parental surrogate for Sarah Lynn and went on to have sex with her as well.
are you jesus?
Why do you spoil later seasons if your reviewing a previous season?
fbi agent I reviewed this last year, way after this season came out, and put disclaimers in the video AND description!
Johnny 2 Cellos yes I know that but if someone like me is watching the show for the first time and just want someone else's opinion on it it just seems weird to spoil future seasons
At the time I made 'em, people were mostly talking about Season 5, so I essentially reviewed these older seasons to not only analyze them, but to point out foreshadowing and story points that related to future seasons. I didn't really want to have to pretend I hadn't seen seasons 2-5 when talking about 1 and 2, and it set my reviews apart from older reviews. Sorry if it's not for you! People seemed to like it, though :)
Johnny 2 Cellos oh ok thank you that makes everything clear I may comeback after I finish the series
The tag movie wasn't that bad COME OOOON :D
HAHA I actually didn't see it! Sorry for ripping on it :) but it's still hilarious that they predicted it 3 years before it came out!
First?
Yup, congrats
I would love this video so much more without the annoying background music!! Why do analysis videos always do this???
Sorry! I much prefer the music, it helps hide the audio cuts in the analysis. Maybe I'll lower it a bit for the next one :)
Wanda is the worst character of the whole show imo... adds nothing to the story
that’s fair
Least favourite series by far. I hate phoebe owl, I hate that the rose tinted glasses line is treated as being so deep when there relationship only falls apart to progress the plot and I hate that the New Mexico plot keeps being dragged up
The series already ended
And this video was 1 year go
Bro wtf
ha! you think this show punches you in the gut? try being a got fan. btw, i do have high hopes this show won't go out like that, at least
I like to think folks just like Todd because of the asexual thing. We can be pretty adorable
After watching your reviews I went to watch a TON of other Bojack content on UA-cam, but I think yours is personally the best.
Oh wow, thank you! That means a lot, I really appreciate it. If you're looking for other good BoJack videos, my personal favorite on UA-cam is one called "How BoJack Horseman Subverts Narrative" by Will Schoder. REALLY well put together video, highly recommend.
I agree.
I fucking adore this show and think it's perfect in every wat God season 2 episode 11 made me cry so great.
Also thanks for the straightforward, insightful and thorough breakdown, it was truly great
Yelling for the servers to bring him alcohol when he's having dinner with his mother isn't him "giving up on living up to his mother's impossible expectations." It's him wanting to stop feeling what he's feeling in this moment.
I saw Raphael Bob-waksberg talk in San Francisco and he mentioned that they originally were going to have bojack sleep with Charlotte and have penny walk in on them! somebody on the team suggested the penny storyline, They thought it was too dark, but when they watched the version with Charlotte it didn’t hit hard enough so they changed it.
so glad they changed it despite it being a very difficult watch, Charlotte is an adult and if she slept with bojack that would be as much her fault as bojacks, penny is 17 and her mind isn't fully developed, bojack is fully responsible for the situation, he knew it was wrong and that it wasn't what penny really wanted and he did it anyway
I really like your vida
dude, your hair xdd
Is this a review or a sequential summary of each episode? I can't tell.
It’s whatever you need it to be
If you quit UA-cam will you become English?
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!? lol
Nah he will become martian, pays better
