  • No more botox for me. Why?
More and more people i know are getting things 'done' and because you see yourself every day you don't realise how 'odd' things start to look. What do you think?

There are so many face treatmants and skincare items that are good enough to make us look better, but not like someone else. I support the ones that are subtle and not overdone. Sometimes when I look at some girls on Instagram, many of them look alike with so simular cheekbones, lips and lifted eyes. They don't stand out, they're just one of the many.

    • @CellFarm

Elena Poposka Because they start having fillers plumpers and Botox so young, they will be forced to continue as the aging process kicks in, they may have the pout they admire in their twenties but they'll have a maw like Donatella Versace in their 40s.
Like you say, they all look the same. It will be interesting to see how they look in ten or twenty years time. If millionaires using the best doctors look like slowly melting waxworks as they age, what on earth will these girls look like?

    • @keely_cn8924

Yeah or like when people over do it they stretch out that skin and it doesn't always go back as the filler dissipates. It's scary. Or there is one girl I saw and hers separates towards the end of it's life and she has little chunks floating around that you can visibly see. Not for me, man.

I'm 49 & never had anything done. I've been thinking about doing my 11s for years, thank goodness I could never afford it. I started my channel over a year ago and youtube & Instagram has made me so self conscious. but there is a woman that's about 10 Years older than me, she promotes botox & fillers all the time, and when I look at her, I see a 59 year old woman with plastic looking skin, not someone younger. because of the way she looks, it has completely turned me off the botox train. 100% agree, they do not see themselves as they really are...so sad!

In case any of you are interested. I am 46 and have done some looking around. I am not comfortable with doing Botox or Fillers. What I did find, that I am going to try this fall, is LED and Microcurrent facials. They are totally non invasive and rebuild your skins collagen as well as muscle tone.

Hello my name is Lydia, I am 49yrs., It's been about 1 year that I started doing PRP pin Vampire Facelift ., And also PRP with a hydronic acid these things are good for the top surface of your skin., Instead of injecting inside your skin you will regret it then later I've seen too many videos and also have ah few friends of mine that have done Botox.,Now after they have stopped using it ., They have this gooey Play-Doh under their skin in front of the four heads ., Don't do it you will regret it later "just do the top surface of your face with treatments like I said Hyluronic acid, PRP pen which is called Vampire facelift they take blood and put in the Centerfuse and spended it., And they put all that good stuff back on face ": what that does gives you a beautiful brilliant on your face like it rejuvenate your face., your skin will glow I think it's a lot better, That's just me I don't like injections cuz I already know what they do., Of course after you do those treatments you have to take care with other treatments at home.,😇👍

My plastic surgeon friend is going to be 58 and it's getting pretty weird looking when we go to the hot springs together and her face is sort of tight, plastic, and shiny looking with not a wrinkle and the rest of her body is looking much older, especially since she is anorexic and no fat to fill anything out. Sometimes I think she looks good but most of the time it strikes me as weird looking. I realized after looking at her one night that you can pull your lower face up but then your ears look strange and your chin and neck start to sag and there is a general demarcation that is quite obvious. I never want to look like someone who looks like I've had work done so I don't. I gave up on botox and had one bad experience with a filler (filled in a mouth wrinkle with scar tissue) and a bad experience with a CO2 laser.
I am heading towards 53 and when I find myself thinking I should maybe do that crap again, my soul jumps up and says, "No. You just aren't. Not an option" Nothing drastic and expensive for me.
As Julia Roberts said (something like,) "Your face should tell a story - not the story of your trip to the doctor's office."

I used to work at clinic & I've had Botox a couple of times between my eyebrows & on my forehead, plus fillers in my lips & nasal folds. It looked a little better, but when you start seeing all the clients who look so unnatural & weird, it completely puts you off. I've also found that keeping hydrated, & a good serum with hyaluronic acid (shout out to dermalogica hydrating booster) does a pretty darn good job of keeping the skin youthful naturally.

Hi Deirdre. I should clarify that I am a massage & spa therapist who happened to work in a clinic that did these kinds of treatments, so I don't want to give the impression of being a trained professional... but, having had a little experience with this, I would look into Restylane. It is a Hyaluronic based product, and my old boss & clients used to rave about it. The other important thing is to research your clinic and make sure you're dealing with someone very experienced. It really is an art form, so you want someone who knows what they are doing. The other, less invasive option is facial Emdermologie. I used to do that treatment at this same clinic & we got some really good results. Check out before & after pictures online. It's pretty cool xxx

"I did botox for a decade and I don't look any different than when I started. It doesn't work!"... the fact that you look exactly the same after a decade is actually an excellent testament to the fact that botox DOES work. I've never had botox and I don't feel strongly either way about it, but the was just a really poor argument.

Of course you don’t suddenly look ten years older after giving it up, you’ve done Botox for more than ten years, your muscles are now used not to move that much, your facial expressions function with that memory even now. You’re saying it’s useless, and just gave you a shiny forehead, and you didn’t look a day younger, but surely also it prevented you from forming wrinkles and looking older

I completely agree with Wayne on this one. Lines and wrinkles make a face interesting and unique, and yes, I think that's true for men AND women. When someone had something done to their face, even if you can't pinpoint it, you notice the difference. It creeps me out. Like Courtney Cox' face, or Leah Remini's. They don't look like themselves anymore. But look at Meryl Streep and Susan Sarandon. Wrinkly, authentic, beautiful faces. Just my two cents.

You dont look older now, even years post botox, partially because you skipped 10 years of expression BECAUSE you had the botox. I feel like this is a really flawed mindset because there is not 2 of you that you can make a factual comparison on if a decade of botox did or did not affect you naturally ageing. Sounds a little harsh but thats just how I see it.

I am a big fan of Wayne's. But personally botox has been my savior. I have dabbled on and off with botox with the past 10 years and I have to say it has such a big impact on my ageing. Yo-Yoing through out the years and waiting till it gets too late before i start doing botox for a year or so before falling out for a year... the best advice I wish I told my younger self is... Dont wait till the damage is kicked in before you go back. Just keep it light and consistent.
In a few years time I am holding onto the upcoming video by Wayne saying "Why I have gone back to Botox" and I am sure he will do a much better job at explaining what I am trying to say. Watch this space ;)

PK Blondie It does help prevent wrinkles. Your face moves less, therefore less wrinkles form or the wrinkles are not as deep as they would be if you had full movement in your face. Also, not all Botox results in a "frozen" face as you said. Botox can be really natural looking if done right and if that is the look someone is going for.

This is one more issue that deals with "luck" (or genetics). I've never had *any* sort of cosmetic procedure done to my face. I took roaccutane 15 years ago and then 8 years ago again and that's it. I'm a 36 yo man and I gesticulate so much that people think I went to Looney Toons college. I have no wrinkles, anywhere. So, it's not really fair to give botox so much credit when your beautiful well taken care of skin might be doing a big chunk of the work.

Wayne, thank you for your honest video. I am 53 and never wanted to go down the path of botox or fillers. Reason is that I like the way I look and I am happy with the aging process. I like makeup, concealor and use a skincare routine everyday. My concerns are that the women/men using fillers/botox is that they will perhaps have to continue using for a very long time to achieve the look they have. We really don't know the extent of what it is doing to our system, injecting products into ourselves... I guess I just like seeing natural beauty and natural aging. I'm probably a minority.

i had botox at 26 and have gone for it around twice a year ever since but it wasn't because I thought I looked old. I had quite deep 11's between my eyebrows with one much deeper than the other to the point that the start of one eyebrow was was much lower and I always looked angry! I seriously looked like I was miserable and frowning a little bit even when I was completely happy and my face was totally relaxed. It did get to the point that when I looked in the mirror this is all i could see, I started homing in on it and became a little obsessive so decided to do something about it. I researched botox for a good 6-7 months before finally taking the plunge and going and having it done. Im so glad that I did! I chose my clinic very carefully and a botox doctor that had a great reputation and years of experience. I started just having the 11's done but now I have a little in the forehead too just to balance things out but I can still move my eyebrows enough for the result to look natural and be able to express myself through my face. It completely fixed the lines between my eyebrows and to this day people are always shocked to learn I have had botox! Even my own mother did not realise that I had had this done until a few months ago when I told her, and if anyone knows my face its my mother! So it can look very natural, I think that it just depends on a number of factors really but I cant recommend choosing a good experienced doctor highly enough

To me that is all that matters she was a self confident woman who didn't care what others thought about her she was intelligent all her grandchildren looked up to her until her last day she left us too soon but always taught me to look beyond ones outward appearance I'm not saying they shouldn't have good hygiene I'm saying look at someone for who they are beyond their looks she had three beautiful daughters but we never looked down on anyone because of her. My father was crushed the day she died and she never did anything to make herself look younger. I'm in the med field and it's all Botox and fillers with these new doctors coming out of school I don't get it other than money and people will pay but you go to the wrong person and you will "pay" it's all in the way you handle the Botox I've seen some scary shit in my days. So if you choose to walk down this path you better make sure your doctor is handling this in the proper way as directed on the bottle or you might end up in your own scary situation for me I'll take the extreme low dose retin a twice a week and call it there. No botulism toxin for me.

Have you had Botox for migraines? I'm on topamax for mine right now but I believe it has been making me sick for the last 10 or so years. Don't get me wrong it does the trick it has turned 3-6 migraines a month to 1-2 max a year but I have stomach/ intestinal syndromes/ diseases and I just thought that was getting worse with my anxiety also. But if it's the topamax making my problems worse then I'd like some of my life back and it would be nice to get rid on one of my medications that I have to take of Botox could hold my migraines at bay I'm not into it for cosmetic reasons I think there are better ways and I mean safer ways to work on that but if it has some medical purpose the I would consider it for the migraines maybe still a safety issue and you still have to be sure your doctor is handling it correctly.

The thing about Botox I've always noticed is that a 50 year old woman who has had doesn't look younger. You don't look at her and think "wow, she looks 25" no you look at her and think "that woman as clearly had Botox".
There's also way too much pressure on women to get it now. It seems to me like any woman in her late 20s is getting Botox because they live in fear of even the tiniest of wrinkles. There is nothing wrong with wrinkles. They are perfectly natural and show that you've lived. It's sad that we are made to feel so ashamed of the simple fact that we are aging.

I think Botox has it's place. I've been getting it done for about 10 years now and I think that yes, it's easy to over do it.
I've been getting less units but more often and I'm liking the results. I still get movement everywhere, my forehead is not frozen or shiny but the movement does not cause the skin to "fold" as much. I get it often, every 2-3 months or so but tiny amounts just to maintain the look. I don't expect not to have wrinkles (I'm 44) but I do feel I look little more rested with Botox.
I also get fillers once every couple of years under my eyes because I naturally have some hollowness there.

Each to his/her own is what I say. I'm almost 74 and have chosen to do none...probably could use some but I think I've earned every line, wrinkle and sag on my entire body. I still want to look the best I can possibly look but I've chosen to embrace what is going on with my body. As my mother once told me, "Not everybody gets to be old". xoxo patti 🎀

As a wrinkle-free 50 year old, I can say my three "secrets" are: paralyze it BEFORE it wrinkles, fill it tastefully before it sags, and regular professional glycolic peels beginning at 30. I see others are making similar remarks about prevention... Botox is amazing for migraines and a host of neurologic ailments, but also the best prevention one can select. These things need not be used in an extreme manner, but over time, can help to maintain a sense of balance. Just my opinion...Wayne looks amazing, and I think his opinions are always worth considering.

I had Botox years ago for the "marionette" lines around my mouth. Don't know what happened, whether my skin rejected it or what, but I ended up with bumps there and they were obvious in the sunlight. I also developed a facial cyst that required surgery. Are these issues connected? I'll never know but now I have a slight facial scar. Any tips for concealing that would be wonderful. I did learn, however, that Botox is not for everyone and I much prefer my more natural aging look and using makeup tips you so wonderfully share.

I'm not trying to be rude but you'd "opt for the special ear piercing"? Do you have chronic migraines? Because I do. I've tried literally EVERY possible treatment for it here in the US, including botox, and nothing has worked for me. You don't get to CHOOSE what treatment you want with migraines. You use what happens to work for you and every person is different. Your statement makes it sound like we can just choose which treatment we want to use on our migraines and it will work. That's just not true.

Vlogging with Migraines so true! My husband suffers from migraines and people just want to equate it to a "headache". I have rheumatoid arthritis and people also trivialize my pain and equate it with some "painful joints". I get exactly what you're saying. I also know people who got the "special ear piercing" and it absolutely DID NOT work for them. I know more people that it didn't work for than did. I started asking people because my husband considered it but now that We know it fails most of the time, I don't know anymore. He is considering Botox.

    • @SageMoonVixen

I hope both of you re able to find some relief, Carissa. If your husband opts for Botox, I hope it works for him like it did for Wayne. For me, it did not but I still recommend people try it. The other issue I had is that it is painful. It's 31 injections, I believe, in the forehead, temples, back of the head, and shoulders. The shoulders and back of the head are not painful to me but the temples and forehead are. I had 2 sessions of botox about 3.5 months apart and the 2nd one seemed to hurt more. Some of the injection sites in my temples actually continued throbbing and hurting for about 30 min after the injections. I almost passed out in both sessions. Both times, the doctor let me just lay there for about 10 minutes after to calm down and regain composure so I didn't feel like I was going to pass out. Even so, had it worked on my migraines, I would have continued it. I'm sure you and your husband both understand the desperation that comes with chronic pain at times.

In years to come the whole duck pout thing will be in history books along with the pictures of women with ribs removed that we used to get shown at school as an example of ridiculous fashions from the past.
I have no doubt that fillers and botox etc if done well by medically trained professionals can probably look great if done subtly but I think that problem lies in the fact that most people I see with lips done ( the ones I notice because hideous ) must have had them done in bargain places who I suspect have little proper medical training. Some of them look like they're going to burst. And the girls getting them are so young. I recently spoke to an 18 year old with over inflated lips who said she's wanted them done her whole life. WTF??
I have a 17 year old daughter who I must beg at least once a week not to get her lips done. She promises me as she won't ( she thinks most look silly ) but then lectures me on personal choice and not being 'judgy' . Tragedy is I could REALLY use some botox and some sort of surgery on my droopy eyes but can't because I've banged on about how ridiculous it is for so long!
    Love your thoughtful videos Wayne!

My forehead no only didn't move but it got bigger to the point were my hooded eyes got worse. I finally realized this by having a picture taken of me and my forehead was bigger, the hood of my eyes were swollen looking. Bottom line it aged me!! Just came across your video. I got Botox a year ago. Looking back I had a shiny tight forehead. I also found when I got tired my eyes slightly dropped at the sides! I looked slightly fresher but I didn't look younger. At 45 I still looked 45. I found I felt toxic and a bit I'll for a few days after having it injected. I also got a headache for a few days and I never get head aches. It made me wonder about getting a toxin injected into my face. I found my face felt stuff even though my doctor assured me it was only a v small amount I had injected. I also had sensitivity to light until it wore off, don't know if it's related to the Botox. If you get this done every 3 months I wonder about the long term consequences.

I think some people (eg, Katie Price) end up looking older in the process of trying to look younger.. she looks far older than her 39 years. If she had left herself alone, she'd look not only younger, but far more 'herself'. Injecting too much and too frequently does seem to make people look like clones of each other; the big lips, the high cheek bones, the eyebrows up by your hairline etc. that married with fake tan, hair extensions, fake nails and eyelashes just doesn't appeal to me for the simple fact that you tend to start looking like everyone else getting exactly the same treatments. I completely agree with having it for medical reasons however! I know someone with chronic migraines and botox does the trick for them alleviating some of that pain. X

I think everybody should do what makes them feel good about themselves. But I also think it would be good to have a reality check, to know how other people see you. There is a certain look that people get when they have fillers, perhaps a facelift, Botox, and especially lip injections, that makes them look like they're not of this world, not exactly human, or at least the way humans are supposed to look by nature. I call them the alien race. And as difficult as it is to watch my face give in to gravity, I never never want to look like a nonhuman.

I get Botox for my atrocious migraines (the only thing that works!) & I have to get it on my forehead, all over my scalp & down my neck...the smooth shiny forehead & slightly impaired eyebrow mobility took some getting used to & I certainly don't think I look younger at 41 because of it! Possibly it was even more jarring since i've only been getting the Botox for about 5 years & had never had any tinkering done before that...when my forehead was suddenly a featureless billboard, I kinda felt like I'd lost some character. I'm fairly used to it now (& honestly I would eat live scorpions if it helped with the migraines), but those freaky first months, yeesh...I totally get where you're coming from! Good message. 💙

Botox, surgery, fillers, etc, unless you have a medical problem, is useless and is pretty much a scam from the industries to take your money. Nothing lasts forever. Unfortunately, almost everywhere I see people having 'similar' lips 👄 … I personally think fillers/botox or even butt are all getting out of proportion … I, as a vocational photographer, use to have my camera full of inspiring natural faces… those beautiful lines around the eyes when they smiled… that lovely natural contours of the face as we age… that grace and strength of character in the expression as we become more confident with age… that uniquely perfect set of features, thin lips, thick lips, deep set eyes, hooded eyes, all those different nose shapes, foreheads … everything is being tinkered now in pursuit of an idea of perfection … only to realise that idea is not perfect after all… I miss our confidence and our love for our originality … of course, We need to take good care of our skin as it's our biggest boldest organ … but what's wrong with beautifully and gracefully aging? I guess, in a way, our inside shows out, if we are aging with a sense of achievement or desperately trying to cover our insecurities

hi i started having botox when i was 39 and have it 2 or 3 times a year, i'm 43 now. Not trying to look younger, just prevent lines getting deeper, which would make me look older lol x

Shirley L I agree it's good to soften what we already have ( those dam deep set lines) but making us look younger it never will. it will make us look good for our age in moderation but never younger.

Now that's being silly.. having Botox doesn't mean that everyone wants it to look younger. your just making yourself look fresher rather than a tired old bag.. that's all

Wayne, thank you for your recommendations!! I truly appreciate your honesty! PS: I purchased your brushes, not because I felt you pushed in your videos to purchase them. Simply because I trust that you would not put your name on something unless you 100% approve it. I wanted to say simply: wow!! I started with the eye set. Could not imagine how I ever used any other brushes( sigma, smith, IT cosmetics). Wayne goss brushes are top notch.. I loved them so much, I purchased the rest.
Way to go!! Thank you for your honesty. It is a breath of fresh air!

done Botox no difference I have good skin
seems for me a waste of money
maybe not for all. so disappointed by results.
    thanks Jennifer

I think Botox can be a helpful little lift to fix things you really hate: for me I have a very asymmetrical v-shaped pinch in between my eyebrows that looks like someone put a dent in my forehead--hated it, love that I don't have to look at it (I don't do the rest of my forehead...expensive to maintain and hey, that's what fringe is for). But you do have to be very strong with your provider, who is always full of little helpful ideas to "fix" you in other ways. It can be a slippery slope.

I was going to get Botox next month for my crows feet. I absolutely hate them, and they are the only thing I see when I look in the mirror. When I wear makeup (and I don't wear a lot) I think they look worse. I would never get anything else done especially my lips xx

I get botox and I love it. It can always be adjusted (more or less, or in different locations) to achieve what you want. You can have a minimal adjustment or a big one. From what I find botox is safer than fillers. Botox also wears off, its not a permanent thing... just find a high qualified person to perform this and someone you really like.

I totally agree with you, Wayne. People nowadays are so obsessed with botox and fillers that they don't notice they gradually are becoming someone else, they deny their birth features, their family genes, transforming themselves into a wax doll (only disfigured which is not pretty). It is really sad to see that we don't accept the fact that youth is not forever and that we can still be beautiful *with wrinkles*. We have become so artificial and vain that it just hurts.

In my 30s with 2 young children, many sleepless nights, and never had anything done. We're designed to age. Ageing had a good purpose and I embrace it. I know nobody cares about my wrinkles and if they do care about it, it's for themselves, not for me! I hydrate almost exclusively with green juice - at least 1 litre a day. As well as distilled water! It truly has helped.

Wayne, you are still very young. When you are older-- 60 and up, you will be glad to use Botox --- even if and when you have a facelift. However I'm sure by then they will have wonderful new products available

hey, just a little bit of constructive criticism : i completely agree there is no need for 3 cameras filming from 3 different angles. i love that your filming style is natural and genuine. but pretty please improve the sound situation! :) it's especially difficult for international viewers, there's like an echo that's covering the british accent (which is to me a bit more difficult than the american one- that one i hear a lot in the movies, at least more often than the british).
love you and appreciate you very much, Wayne!

    • @kiwigirljacks
      @kiwigirljacks 7 років тому +4

johanna doe unfortunately Wayne has explained in other videos that he cannot do anything about the sound due to the glass windows bouncing the sound back. He'd have to rearrange his house to film and he doesn't want to do that.

    • @WayneGoss
      @WayneGoss 7 років тому +7

Thank you Kiwigirljacks. I have mentioned the sound issue before. I film in a stone wall room. Unless i get them dug up and replaced with carpets, nothing about the sound will change. I like the floors, so alas, nothing i can do sadly.

    • @kiwigirljacks
      @kiwigirljacks 7 років тому +5

Wayne Goss ahh that's right.. it was the stone, not the windows. The echo doesn't bother me at all, but I'm of British descent so I'm used to the accents 😉 keep the floors I say! 😊💕

i think that a microphone that stays closer to his mouth would block the sound coming from the room's walls. record the sound on a different device and then synchronise it with the video. it's not that difficult if you use a clapping/beeping sound in the beginning of the video to mark the point where the camera's sound and the soundrecorder's should overlap.
people do even record in the middle of traffic noise using that method for filming pranks and other dumb stuff like that :P ;)

    • @kiwigirljacks
      @kiwigirljacks 7 років тому +2

johanna doe a closer mike often gives a worse sound quality and to have to record the audio somewhere else (on a different device in the same room would no doubt produce the same result) would be an awful hassle. I understand where you're coming from.. but we'll just have to love Wayne regardless I'm afraid 😊 👍

I agree. We get so used to seeing our role models for beauty - the models, singers & film stars having frozen faces with no lines & pumped up lips, that we feel like we are not keeping up with the times or doing what we can to look the way we should. I just turned 59 and feel like I want to say "I refuse to let myself look like I'm aging!" Obviously this is impossible & the more I try to keep myself looking young, the more unhappy I become, because there ain't no way that's going to happen. I must take 15 photos before finding one that I will use that doesn't look like I'm a hag in my own eyes - sad but true & when friends post photos of me on social media I want to cry if I look awful. It is very sad. I won't even smile in a photo, because you see all the lines under my eyes.

Absolutely agree Wayne. It seems like when the Botox/filler thing started, it was MUCH more subtle and natural - now all you see is plastic, frozen faces with puffy chipmunk cheeks. It's like that look has (sadly) become a style, and one that more and more people are chasing.
Personally, after reading the very extensive lists of possible side effects for all these products, I will never touch them unless they are medically necessary. To each their own, but I'm not putting my health at risk over a few wrinkles!

I have often found that people who get botox and fillers always end up looking older than they really are. I know plenty of people including my mother and mother in law who are GORGEOUS and look so amazing for their age and they've never had any work done. It's crazy because botox and fillers are used for the purpose of making one appear younger, when in reality it often does just the opposite!

I have never done Botox and I’m not planning on. I tend to obsess over things and I think if I start with that, I couldn’t stop and, like you said, I would not see my real face anymore. I feel often Botox looks very obvious to me, especially when the eyebrows and the eyebrow arch are unnaturally high. Sometimes I see ladies where a doctor did a nice settle job though. But I still wonder about Long term effects. People seem to brush this off completely and believe it’s “out the system” after a couple month. But the truth is that this is a billion dollar industry and Botox probably makes sure there will be no Long term study ever at all!

Definitely NOT a Botox or fillers fan unless its for seriously needed correction. Unfortunately most women buy into the propaganda by the beauty industry that we have no value unless we have no wrinkles or pores. Its simply social engineering to the hilt. And that said there is so much a woman can to do enhance, correct or compliment her "look" if she just took the time to study architecture and practice, practice, practice a look that is right for her. The confidence that comes from that is priceless - at any age.
