- India announced their squad for the white-ball tour of Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 18 July. In a surprise call, the Board of Control for Cricket in India named Suryakumar Yadav as the T20I captain instead of Hardik Pandya, who was the deputy to Rohit in the ICC tournament. Hardik, who had captained the Indian T20I side throughout the 2023 season was not chosen to be the successor of Rohit Sharma. In fact, Hardik Pandya was snubbed from the vice-captain's position as well in the Indian T20I side.

All these panelists who are defending Hardik so much but forgetting that before Hardik it was KL Rahul who was vice captain and was seen as next captain. So why not defending KL Rahul for captaincy? What BCCI has done is absolutely correct and have made the right choice in making the team and making Surya as the t20 captain and continued with Rohit as ODI and test captain.

Pandya is a great all rounder. But a very average captain. He is a great finsher but he alway choose to bat up the order when he is the captain. Disturb the balace of the team. Sometimes he comes to bowl against Travis Head in 1st over and sometime he chooses to bowl last over against Dhoni. Rohit used him perfectly as a bowler. He mostly finish his quota from 4-16 overs.

Hardik is a very good all rounder however his temperament, frequent health issues and lack of team player ability may have gone against him. Sanju being left out was unfortunate but the management must have their own reasons.
