This just goes to show that everything from the 90's was HEAVILY inspired by copious amounts of LSD and other hallucinogenics

Must be why they were all so fun to use. Modern software just feels like a corporate yes man hitting a teenager who barely understands ms paint.

Speaking as a graphic designer with an enthusiasm for 80's, 90's, Y2k-core nostaliga: my speculation is that the 90's style was an evolution of the 80's style with new experimentation thanks to developments in computer rendering and digital production technology.
The 80's style being an especially colorful reaction to the often brown-brown-wood-paneled-brown and concrete-brutalism of the 70's.
After the loudness of the 90's really shiny, loopy y2k style, things went into a corporate minimalist dystopia for a while. Either that or the shabby-chic, HGTV lady aesthetic.
I'm seeing a resurgence of y2k aesthetics with the younger zoomers. Especially with an emphasis on materials with interesting neon or iridescent-transparent properties.
I speculate these types of design trends are a sort of sine wave between minimalism and maximalism, accented by the technology of the time.

At the very end, she faintly mentioned "Lil' Howie's Great Word Adventure" - and finally played it 2 months ago in the stream titled "an explanation for the brain damage". It all comes full circle.

While I have also never been diagnosed with the tism, I'd be lying if I said the game didn't activate certain bits of my brain matter. My comfort game when I was younger was that old 3d Pinball Space Cadet Game. That was like crack to me. Thanks for the clip of the new competitor for MS Paint, Kid Pix.

Dang what was it? 2nd grade? The turn of the millennium? Legit almost 25 years ago~
One time in like fourth grade though, my mother's car wouldn't start after she got to school to pick me up (bad starter) so the school let me mess with the computers until we could figure something out. It was all Kid Pix and going to ancient websites like Garfield and all that. Good times.
And like she said, later in HS we played games on the school computer, I distributed copies of CS 1.6 portable and Halo custom edition portable, Lolz
