  • We pour concrete today! We switched concrete companies and we had no issues at all with concrete delivery. The weather was perfect and this pour went as good as it could have. Next, we erect metal building. Enjoy!

LOL Erik... Right off the bat when you said you were back to the 'step by step' barndo build, the first thought that entered my mine was Eddie Rabbit. Who else here even knows what I'm talking about? And yeah I know... I'm an old bastard.

There's something really satisfying about watching concrete get poured and finished. Kind of like mowing grass. Looks real good.

I hate mowing grass so much that, when I build my dream home after retiring, it will not have a lawn.

That's good that you are willing to spend a few extra bucks for some water reducer. I've seen contractors they wanted wet concrete without water reducer and they would take about 50 gallons of water off the truck and the next day the slab would crack and then they try to blame the concrete company. Generally as a rule most concrete companies will void the warranty after 20 gallons for 10 yards. And then the blame game begins

You make placing concrete look sooo easy. It isn't. There is a lot of talent in those guys working the concrete! It is easy to let that get away from you.......especially when you have a form fail! Good job....looks great, sir!

Awesome Erik- at a guess, I would think you as a cement placer and as a company owner have set 10,000 yards of 'crete- and you are still learning, still willing to take what sounds like good advice and make it better than ever. You will find that concrete that doesn't crack! Good on ya!

Well l'm in Arizona and watch numerous of your videos. So l purchased land to build a barndomium. Oh my what a horrible time l 've had trying find a steel building manufacturer. I had to send Texas Barndomium website for them to understand what l was looking for, your building are a style l can't find here to build. So frustrating any way....l won't give up. Guess l will have pass on your videos to get it done right. Thanks

I got a question for you...
Why do you chose to use panel forms instead of a 2x10 or something? And how’d you get to the conclusion that you perfer it?
I’m asking because I was raised on construction sites in georgia and I always saw my dad doing things differently than you guys. Im also new to business and I just want to know what works best and what’s easier for my crew and everyone around me

It’s amazing how well you can see the day one working when bull floating. Cement is really interesting in how there’s different ways to do it but if you don’t do it exactly right you can really mess up the finished product. The way Texas barndos does it is the best way ive seen so far

LOVE seeing skilled people do a great job! It's kind of funny that someone NOT knowing much about concrete (edit: ME) thought it was MUCH easier to do concrete than it actually is. I was shocked to see how much time, detail and skill it actually takes to make it look good. Good lesson to learn and good to see how much works goes into doing concrete.

Love how the boss always says “we are ganna have to pull it” but he never steps in the concrete lol beauty of being the shot caller just stand around and make sure things go as planned but what people don’t realize is the boss may not do a lot of physical work but the mental work they put in it don’t have any breaks they’re constantly thinking of how to solve problems all we gatta do is what we are told and if it’s wrong we ain’t to blame if anything goes wrong it’s on them so much props to you brother I’ve been watching for a while u do nice work and if I lived closer you would be building my house because u care about the finished product not just the check u receive that separates the good contractors from the very bad ones that end up costing more money when they have to tear it out

    1. Would have been great to see the backfill and other prepour work inside the safe room. At a minimum a 10 second walk through before this pour.
    2. How do you find a local finishing crew to work with when doing remote jobs and you don’t bring your own guys or regular sub? Talk to the concrete cos or other contractors in the area?
Beautiful work. Wish I could schmooze you to come pour a slab for me. Regardless a great step by step series. Thanks.
