Orta is fantastic, complete command of the keyboard. And the way you take your time with the tune, not just singing, but CONNECTING with the lyrics, just beautiful Nic!

Note: That was back when Miami Gardens was still showcasing JAZZ at their Jazz in the Gardens event instead of the very NON-jazz transition they have seemed to follow up with in years since - as a result, I have not made a trip to return. Miami & Ft. Lauderdale lost jazz when Love 94 FM went off the air.

I swa Nicole Henry today at an outdoor concert in Ft. Lauderdale. She really put on an impressive show, and Mike Orta, a longtime fixture in South Florida jazz also played great. I'm not a female singer fan of jazz, but she sang mainly all jazz standards, and did them wonderfully, so she's easily recommended.

The pianist that played her was Mike Orta, whom has unfortunately passed away.... I managed to take some classes with him for a few months prior. He was very ill, however. His left hande was eventually immobilized.. poor guy. Rip, I will miss him...

if you play the same melody over and over, you begin to play variations on it. if you sing a song again and again, the lyrics tend to shift as well. also, nerves may play a factor. In any case, it doesn't detract from the beauty of this rendition.

This is one of my favorite songs, so here it is: @ 0:50 you say, "condensation" when it's supposed to be "conversation" and @ 1:37 you're singing the word "hiledist ??" were you going for "highest" or "wildest" or you weren't sure at the time ? Mind you, this doesn't take away from the fact that your an exceptional singer ... and a seriously fine fox. Had to add the fox part because being a man, it's the very first thing I noticed.
