Can anyone add some context or insight into the the drivers' instruction not to use lane 1? (Sailing regatta ofifcials brought in to work a power boat race? 🙃)
@@markconner3234 That makes sense. The way they described it during the broadcast, I got the impression that it was something given during the prerace meeting, so I was confused. Or, maybe that was the prerace instruction, to go to the outside of any boat stopped in the water.
That rule has been in place for race starts in Madison for a very long time. Since sometime in the 90s, I think. Simply put, the Madison course is very narrow and lane 1 just too tight and dangerous for a start when you have four boats in the turn at the same time. It has never been rigorously enforced. As you can see, the U11 cut into lane 1 at the turn apex and then back out again. Normal. Once the first turn has been navigated after the start, the boats can use it as they please.
@@newcarpathia9422 Ah, thanks for the clarification. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a race in Madison, this rule is new to me.
Get some short track dirt or asphalt racing announcers
Peabody got chopped off like he did Tate last week.
Was it the officiating or commentating that made watching this race so confusing?
Your lack of knowledge and respect for the sport probably, maybe u should go watch drifting or something
Hydro fans actually like these announcers? Get rid of 'em...and try again, please!!!
