As a Rivian owner, what are your thoughts on the R2 charge port location issue? I feel like if they make it a Tesla location, they are basically abandoning their own chargers. Do you think if the port was in the Tesla location you would charge anywhere else than Tesla in the future?

You mean abandoning their less that 500 total ports (whose expansion will be placed on hold due to cost savings) versus over 15,000 stalls/ports (and growing) they can charge on using V3 Superchargers? Is that what you mean? Is that much of a decision?
Plus they don't need to abandon anything. I've been to a Rivian charging site. If you park with the stall/dispenser in the center, their cable is just long enough to reach the right AND left rear on the R2/R3 Rivians, and the left front of the current Rivians. Plus most stalls are power shared 3 way. So if you have 2 Rivians connected, the most you're going to get is 120kw at maximum power, or, 80kw if 3 Rivians are connected. While you can get 209kw on 250kw V3's, none of which share power. What decision would you make?
But if they don't move it to the left rear, they're not going to make it. They need every last sale they can get. People that are used to having abundant places to gas up are not going to switch to a vehicle with limited charging choices unless you carry around an extension with you.
Here's what they're telling any potential future customer that want to use the largest, most reliable network in the world (whose vast majority are V3's and will still be for many years to come): On one hand they're telling them, "look, we added the NACS port so you no longer have to carry around an adapter with you"; but on the other they're telling them, "but instead, you'll have to carry an even bulkier extension around with you."

There’s an actual rivian charger in Newburgh? Like actually rivian? Or Tesla that supports rivian?

It’s a brand new Rivian Adventure Network charger. Stay tuned because w just checked it out today! You’ll definitely want to be subscribed because I planned one thing for the video and something completely unexpected happened.

Note: You are NOT following the rules from Rivian or Tesla and either one could BLOCK you from any future use. Rivian for sure would know you charged without you being sent an authorized adaptor. I may would avoid posting as you are breaking the manufacturer recommendations😮 Tesla needs to add about 5 or 6 feet longer cables for 4 of the chargers out of 12.

Sure, and who will pay for the changes ? Or maybe Tesla should just increase the price for non Tesla owners to pay for the changes. I think it would have been better for brands to change the port location at least for the new cars with the NACS port (rather than an adapter).

Not certified! If It's designed by Tesla for their network, it is certified by Tesla that designed and builds the supercharger made in New York. I probably would use a 3rd party adapter too, but not make a video. The open chargers will be good in the long term.

Why would Tesla drivers revolt? I own a Model Y and am getting an R1T. Tesla drivers don't own the superchargers just like gas car owners do not own the gas stations. They have no reason to be jealous. Everyone is a paying customer.

In fact Tesla owners partially "own" the Tesla network, or more precisely the Tesla they own has some informal rights. Many years ago, the access to superchargers was an option, I do not remember the price but I guess 2000 USD. And even now some old Tesla model S cannot access superchargers. Later Tesla made this option included in the price, so it was mandatory, and millions of Tesla sold latter it makes the best charging network. That is why it is cheaper to charge a Tesla than another car at a Supercharger. However, the "privilege" is linked to the car, not the owner, and if you have a Tesla and a Rivian you pay the non Tesla price for the Rivian. Mayby in the future Tesla will make changes, eg cheaper Teslas but with no special supercharge prices. Anyway, as a Tesla owner, I am very happy to see other brands using superchargers because the more people use EVs the better it is for pollution and climate change. Furthermore, the more people use superchargers the more superchargers will be added and I prefer charging my Tesla at a supercharger than at another charge network. BTW, it is possible for non Tesla owners to get a subscription to have Tesla prices, and it would be interesting to know if it works for all the car owned or if you have to specify a precise vehicle.

Most won’t care. But Tesla owners did help pay for the network. And now, more people will help pay for the network. It’s a good thing for all.

They’re good, I like the styling a lot better but the accuracy and freshness of data is definitely a bit behind. It does seem to be getting better though
