Nice to see a measured and informative review that wasn't over-awed by an electric vehicle and how fast it can go 0-62 for once. The breakdown of charge times and costs was really useful too
The clearest EV review I've seen so far, it was a pleasure to watch. Howard this is your best vid to date, and it's impressive to see you continuing to up your game
If you want to see a more in-depth review of the E-tron or any other electric vehicles then I would have a look at the Bjorn Nyland channel or Fully Charged
Excellent review. I especially appreciate you showing how to charge it. Being a first time EV purchaser, or considering the purchase, these things sadly are completely foreign to me. Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate it. I also appreciate the automatic driving function. I’ve heard of these things but your video was very helpful to actually see it.
I like it more than I-pace and the model x. Great informative review on the E-tron aka Audi first mass produced electric car. Keep up the great content and great videos.
My car brakes started jerking after 8300miles, nearly crashed on motorway, Audi told disc have bended due to heating effects without pre warning, Audi refused responsibility, blamed my driving style, landed up paying 1700 for disc and brakes getting replaced, anyone else got similar experience?
The problem with those e-Tron scooters, or those of similar ilk, is they're illegal to use on roads, cycle paths and pavements. My main gripe with electric cars are their mileage claims. I still think they're over hyped even though there are newer, supposedly "real world" figures available for them. And I can't wait for you to drive the Porsche Taycan and next year, the Audi E-tron Coupe which looks absolutely stunning both in looks and performance. But in this real world, I'd still stick with an fossil fueled engine and use the ten odd grand I'd save on fuel and time saved on journeys. Another great Howievideo again. PS - If ever I took an electric car out for a test, I'd sneak in a babies rattle when I wasn't been watched and hide it somewhere impossible in the car for the dealer to try and find :-))...
Just picked up a 21 E-Tron in the US. Blows away Tesla in quality, fit and finish. Faster charge rate over the curve. Cons though, is US non-Tesla charging infrastructure is not there yet. You need longer range to get to the chargers. It’s a great for a 2 car home, “work” vehicle. But in the US, unless you live in the few Major cities, you need a ICE vehicle.
As of the end of August, Audi has sold under 4000 e-trons in the US since it's launch here. (I'm finding the worldwide number hard to locate.) Tesla sold 97,000 cars in Q3 (Jul - Aug - Sep), and more than 17000 of those were models S and X - both of which are no longer riding in the glow of newness to the market. I'd bet my insulated coffee cup that most of the e-tron buyers were purchasing their first EV, and they chose the e-tron over luxury ICE SUVs and sedans. Some no doubt cross-shopped the i-pace and model X. But leaving Tesla in droves for the e-tron? You jest. But good on Audi for making a real car that their customers WILL choose over the Q5, X3 or Macan. Well done. Certainly Audi has a respectable contender - but there doesn't seem to be evidence - yet - that there is a flight from Tesla. Rather, there is a growing EV market.
It still doesn't have enough range for a "one car family". It's nice enough, but it exists in a world where the infrastructure and convenience of owning is not even in the same galaxy as owning an ICE car. Tesla are getting there with the range and fast charging and I think their 100D replacement is going to be pretty damned impressive (for EV) as far as range goes.
e-tron sales in US less then Model X by itself so i dont know where the you get information that everyone is buying this instead of Tesla , just goes not show cant trust anything on Internet
Decebal825 Like you said... *in the US.* Of course Americans rather buy a car produced by an American company... In Europe the charging infrastructure for other EVs is way better than in the US. Currently the e-Tron is the fastest luxury SUV (even faster than the Model X) when it comes to long range travelling and it’s also way cheaper than the Model X, so there is no reason to buy a Model X instead of an e-Tron.
Au contraire, we Audi owners appreciate quality, luxury , comfort and performance. Very competitively priced vehicles for their level of quality fit and finish.
The Bronx Pops ! Applied to me. Tesla makes great cars, but I love the plush interior of the Audi, love the heads up display and really needed the moonroof. Also, as good as the sound system was in the Tesla, this has a Bang and Olson sound that blows away anything I’ve heard before (including my BMW 530e Harmon Carmon...which was an $800 upgrade).
Nobody wants to hear their car making a noise like a washing machine. EVs need to be silent inside, and leave the vroom vroom noises to real cars. I'm tossing up between an E-Tron or a Merc GLC AMG43........the noise that Merc makes is hard to resist. Some will say, well the Audi is quicker 0-60.....how often do you floor a car off the lights? EVs just have no 'soul'....I know people who have had the luck and the money to buy Porsche Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT......they didn't keep them long, as they just found them so boring to drive compared to their old high-peformance ICE cars, and the charging network gave them some nightmare journeys.
An E-Tron isn't the only fully electric luxury EV we have on our website, have a browse for more models here: buff.ly/3FZ4na4

Great balance of information and humour with a concentrated dose of honesty! Just what we like!

This was so good, I'm so bored of EV reviews that only talk about the instant power and demo acceleration on a loop
Great work Howard , always look forward to your reviews

So glad you covered the sounds...one of my favorite features.
Great review, And very informative..Keep up the good work !!

he like to tease lol .. great review as always
Great work!
£8 for 100 miles at a services charger.... Wow has the price of electricity gone up THAT much in 4 years??

Do someone know the name of this blue color?
Cobalt Blue Metallic or Galaxy Blue, unable to find paper work at the moment.

i don't like the Tron in the name. They just need need the use E as in E4, E6, E8, Qe5
@@Huron2000 Yes it does, but this is spelt E-tron
Def would have been simpler for drivers to include a reference to existing Audi nomenclature.
6:21 that's 27 kWh not kW
Its the same thing though, 27KW delivered as a charge.

E-tron 200 miles EPA range vs Tesla model S 370 miles...and then you got the Ionity vs Tesla SuC nettwork.
It looks and sounds very well suited to the typical Audi-owner/driver. (more money than sense)
Yes but Tesla has the supercharger network. That’s it’s ace up the sleeve
Au contraire, we Audi owners appreciate quality, luxury , comfort and performance. Very competitively priced vehicles for their level of quality fit and finish.
Rhis reminds me of tony stark
Brilliant
Leaving Tesla in their droves? Um, wrong.
Yeah..... they should just rename it “not as good as Tesla” :/
Leaving tesla for Audi’s in droves ? What a 🤥
