"Walking is the best medicine" - Hippocrates
Walking is essential for good health. Walking research is very clear. If you take a 30-minute walk each day, your heart will be dramatically healthier. As you walk, your heart pumps in a nice and relaxed manner, circulating oxygen-rich blood throughout your body. When your body is receiving this vital oxygen-rich blood and nutrients, your body and tissues stay younger and healthier. The walking benefits for men are infinite.
Did you know you can lose weight walking? A 30-minute walk can boost your metabolism for up to 12 hours after the walk! Pairing a healthy diet with a 30-minute walk can help you lose weight without exercise. Additional benefits of walking include strengthening your bones and improving your attention and memory.
Taking a walk after eating a meal is a great idea. Walking helps to decrease the blood sugar spike that happens after eating a meal. Start taking a walk every day and let us know how you feel in the comments below! 👇

I am 55 years old. I walk 5 miles every single day, I never miss a day. It takes me about 1 hour 20 minutes to finish. I have been doing this for about 5 months straight. Before I started I was 165 pounds (5’9”) so I wasn’t overweight before I started. But I’m now 155, lost about 10 pounds. I feel amazing and I feel like I have more strength. One other thing that I noticed is that walking greatly improves my mood. Sometimes when I’m feeling down or just not feeling like walking, I push myself anyway. After my walk is over, I always feel better and my mood improves. I wish I would have started doing this back when I was young.

Same for me. I walk everyday, twice a day, regularly clocking up 5-6 miles. This is along with 20 minutes of yoga, three rounds of Wim Hof breathing and a cold shower as soon as I get up. I’ve been doing this for five months and haven’t missed a day. I will cut back a little on walking once lockdown is eased as I will swim for an hour five days a week too. Since October, I’ve lost 22lbs. I wasn’t overweight, but I’m now the same weight as I was 25 years ago when I was in my early 40s. I’m in the best shape of my life.

Thank you Dr. I totally agree with this. I am about 6’3” and was at 280… i am not super overweight but for sure have body fat I need to lose. I have high bp and asthma so my goal is to lose 50 lbs . I think walking outside is so good than just walking on a treadmill and getting your steps in. I love breathing the air and just getting involved with nature as I walk.. its more refreshing. I bought a pedometer to track my steps and I have been walking aprox 4000-5000 steps per day and want a goal of 10,000 steps as that’s 5 miles. I am also trying to eat healthier things and focusing on smaller food portions and meal prepping a litte bit. I just want to lose some weight and get toned again. In the 80’s I was around 200.. at 280 now , I realize its so dangerous to be at this weight. So thanks so much for your encouraging videos. I have lost about 8 pounds and drink water. I don’t do a lot of heavy lifting as I think this wouldn’t be good for me now. I am starting slow and building my way up.

I walk four kilometres every morning after I wake up, Monday to Sunday, 40 minutes each day. It is one of the simplest things you can do to significantly improve your life and well-being. But you don’t have to jump into a routine like that right away. Start small, even just a five-minute stroll in the evening after dinner. Build a good habit with tiny, incremental changes. It will change your life for the better.

I started to eat nutritious foods instead of Kraft dinner and started to eat fruits and vegetables more often during the day. I started slowly walking around my apartment building and then went a little further every so often. Now I can walk 3 long uphill sidewalks and only have to stop once. When I see the numbers on the scale at the doctor office going down I am so happy. I realized how good it is to walk and see those pounds melt away.

I have been walking every day since I was laid off due to Covid-19 (almost 4 months). I am now up to 2 to 4 miles daily. I have only lost about 8 pounds, but my clothes fit looser and I feel so much better. I had severe lymphedma two and a half years ago. My lower legs were the size of my thighs. Thanks to medical care it is now controlled. My legs are look normal (except for the staining). Thanks for the video reminding us of how important this simple activity is.

because of shitty governmental advice. people who had problems when having covid-19 had huge inflammation because of different factors. low vitamin d is one factor for high inflammation. high deficit on vitamin d results in a 10-fold likelyhood to die from covid-19. the other side is glutathione deficiency. this is the master anti-oxidant in our body. it protects us against inflammation. people older than 60 years have half levels compared to young healthy people. diabetic too. if you are old, diabetic with low vitamin d, then your life is very likely over when getting covid -19.
if we tell old people to hide in their basement from covid-19, their vitamin d gets worse and when they don't move, they get more insulin resistant and get more inflammation and glutathione levels go down.
      not a good advice.
my approach is getting sun and or vit d+k2 supplement to fix a vit d deficiency.
get a n-acetyl-cysteine and glycine supplement to boost glutathione levels.
problem solved. people are responsible for their own health.

Walking for life! Every day I wake at 4am, mediate for an hour or more, do yoga and Wim Hoff breathing until around 7am and take the wife a cup of tea to wake her. At 8am we will walk with our dog from the house a short walk, rain or shine, up the glen into the woods and forest and smell the earthy freshness, (so good for you), as we climb up a steep winding path up a hill to a large clearing and walk around the lake/reservoir, surrounded by the forest trees and usually we just sit a while on the grass by the lake side, or on a nearby bench if the ground is too wet and chat, or just take it all in and listen to the birds and trickling water coming into the lake from various places from the surrounding mountain on one side. Peaceful, serene and starts the day off right. Back down another twisty trail through the trees that leads down a stream and not too far to the sea and we walk along the beach. If it’s not blowing a hoolie I might swim; then back to the house about 5 minutes away. We’ve covered 7 miles at an easy pace by the time we get in the house. We feel great after that - truly great and it’s just nice to do and keeps my joints moving well, because I’m approaching 71 years young and my wife 50. It is so worth it and once into the “habit” it’s easier and not so hard at all. It just takes commitment and then just do it. “Make” this time, because life is for living and living is for now! Don’t waste time, as time has been known to fly by when we least expect it and we’re often too busy to notice until it’s too late. So this video might just be your calling 😉

Someone asked where I live; I live in the Isle of Man, a little island right between Ireland, England and Wales. Cloaked in ancient Celtic myths and steeped in mysteries with Faeries as our neighbours and other worldly beings, but probably more famous for the TT motorcycle racing each year. An island that has a part of it lost in a time that has just stayed still, while another part soars with an offshore banking centre. You don’t have to go far though to reach a forest, endless rolling hills with its shimmering heather at certain times, surrounded by mountains nearby, while there are picturesque glens, often with cascading waterfalls that fall into hidden pools at its feet, hidden away amidst the forests and glens, not forgetting the ‘almost hidden’ ancient wells where folk still might secretly toss a coin in and make a wish, or kick a well worn ‘special’ nearby stone for luck. Although the recent virus visited us, it was thankfully brief and we shut our borders, so here in August we had been well over 100 days of being back to normal, with no masks or madness and life as before. Therefore, each day on our walks, perhaps on a different path to add another dimension to such a simple delight as a walk amidst Mother Nature’s sacred realms, we count ourselves so very lucky and truly appreciate those special moments that start our day off in such a wonderful way. We take our time to smell the earth, feel the breeze as we walk along, sometimes at a stroll to take in the beautiful surroundings and another at a stiffer gait up a hill and laugh at the friendly competition of who puffs first. We’ll always take a moment to sit in silence, or participate in idle banter and reflect in that moment; forget the past as it has gone, only taking its lessons along if required and live in this very moment. Yes, I am lucky to live in this place with its simple pleasures, which are so important nowadays in a world gone mad. I know everyone can’t take their walks in such a place, but with a little imagination, mixed with a peppering of positivity, everyone can get out, albeit for a brief time and enjoy a walk and soak in the “now-ness”. It’s good for heart and mind and be truly thankful to be alive. Because “later” can take care of itself when it comes. For those that can’t walk so far any more, like grandma or the old lady down the street, take your walk’s vivid story back to them and let them close their eyes and join you once again. I will continue to walk (and sometimes jog - while I still can :-) but even if it’s just down to the sea at the end of my little road I will always enjoy the moment(s) and keep going as long as I can, one step at a time.

Today i walk 15,000 steps, broken up into 2 walks a day, i eat and then walk. I now know my fellow walkers, we chat, i walk just after sunrise and an hour before sunset, vitamin D is not an issue in Australia, finding shaded walks with good sunscreen, hat is very important. My CT calicum score is not great, but my cardiologist thinks i am one of his fittest 64 year old ladies, he said my walking, which is seeing a slimmer me, and giving up all forms of sugar, being careful of food i put into my mouth has paid off, i feel fitter now than i have for many decades, number 1 thing is eat and walk. I have started tai chi, which proved how uncoordinated i was getting better now.

Great video and true:) I am 74 now, I farmed for 45 years so I was always active. At the age of 68 I was in a very serious farm accident. I broke my neck and back and crushed the upper right side of my body. I wash shipped to a big city hospital. They put me back together real good. My wonderful wife had died 5 years prior to this. I met a lovely lady at a health conference a couple of years after my wife passed, we got along great and enjoyed each others companionship. My sister a retired nurse had told me to forget about my physical therapy after struggling with it for about a year and just to start walking. I have a state park about 10 min from my farm . I started walking about 4 miles a day. At about this time I was deeply in love with my new friend. The problem that popped up was religion:( I was a Jehovah's Witness and she was a main lie Christian,Friction began. We stopped seeing one another, but kept in touch. and I kept walking in the big woods. In the warm weather I walk barefoot. I was a bit suicidal for quite a while after all of this loss in such a short period of time. I had also made a couple of bad investments that cost me over a million dollars. Things were not looking good but I kept walking. Now eleven years after my wife's death my life is getting a lot better. God started talking to me on these long ( some times 10 miles) walks in nature. He explained to me how totally demonic my religion was. So I dumped it and started going with a friend to a christian church. WOW. Any way I am pretty sure if it was not for my walking by my self in nature I would not be alive today ! ! ! ......... P S ..........NEVER TALK ABOUT RELIGION WITH A JEHOVAH's WITNESS ! ! ! They are a demonic CULT for sure. Do not doubt me on this. I was one for over 30 years. By the way I have 7 adult children and a bunch of grand children, they are all basically shunning me except for my two youngest ones. They got out of the Cult with me the rest are all still in and doing as they are told :( :( :(

I’ve been walking every morning (3 miles or so) for the last 3 weeks and it seems to be helping w fat loss. Can you clarify? @stefanweilhartner4415 4 роки тому +2

yes. walking is low intensity. you can check with a heart rate monitor (polar h10 and a mobile phone). ver high intensity is also good because you get exhausted below one minute and stop before the cortisol level goes up. also getting high quality protein after exercise like raw eggs rocky style is great. when doing medium intensity for longer than 20 minutes your blood sugar level runs low and then cortisol creeps up. that leeches protein out of your whole body to make new blood sugar out of it. this is very unhealthy and stupid to do. it accelerates aging because it wastes expensive nutrients that the body needs for maintenance and repair and growth. this is what people do when they desperately want to lose weight and get the wrong advice like "eat less and exercise more"

I'm lucky enough to live in a beautiful mountain area so I hit the hills hard after work and burned thousands of calories per day. I lost 9 lbs in a week - real fat loss, not water. Accelerating the process like this is great for morale. Though obviously it's a waste of effort if you don't make the lifestyle changes that will ensure you keep it off.

Walking is the best medicine to improve your health. I am a diabetic that has started my walking routine for the past 3 months. i have to say it.has improved and lower my blood sugar levels , physical and mental mind. Currently, i am only on my lantus injection once a day and off my Metformin. My walk includes 1hr in the am and half hour afternoon/evening. With total miles 5..
Once you start you don't want to stop! :)
