I adapted this project from an adorable vintage craft booklet called "Christmas Ideas" by Toni Wood, 1971. I think the original concept was meant for these to be miniature sized- small enough to hang on a Christmas tree. I used full size 3-4 inch pine cones, so my carolers are actually more like dolls than ornaments, and they large enough to line up on a mantel or to use in a centerpiece. I designed templates for the costumes, and you can find them here on the project page at smilemercantile.com.
These ladies look a bit fancy, but they are actually very easy to make!

I love it!!! I am in awe of the technique of taking the pipe cleaner and bending it in that fashion to create hair!!! Fantastic!

Please do! ♥
These remind me so much of the beautiful Christmas decorations of my childhood back in the 60's and 70's that I would see at my grandparents house. I miss that magical time. This is such a wonderful and happy craft that brings back warm and beautiful memories of my childhood growing up. Thank you so very much for sharing this will all of us!! Have a beautiful day and God Bless!! =;)
Thank you so much! Yes! It was based on a project from a 1971 craft booklet. I love the style of the time. Have a lovely weekend. ❤

So.... I found Tony Wright's book and with your instructions here I've invited my daughter and her friend over next Saturday to do this project. We'll see how it comes out. I'm also doing a little vintage luncheon from my vintage cookbook collection.
