My daughter teaches at a school and showed them one of your videos for kids and they were silent for Several minutes. They had a farm day at school the other day and one of the students asked her if she knew farmer Jason. Thank you for what you do.
I was at the Linden stockyard to assist with paperwork. A guy came by in a stock trailer and dropped off about 20 goats. It was in screaming hot July. Within 20 minutes of the goats being dropped off, 95% of the goats were on the ground either overheated or in labor-or both. It was a nightmare. The vet came by to check the cattle, and helped us get the goats in a more comfortable area. We hosed down the goats that overheated, and moved the laboring goats to a better location. However, the person that dropped off the goats disappeared-nowhere and never to be found. The goats did not sell. We were able to find homes for the goats, but not all of the goats made it through the experience. When Jason gives advice about their animals, I take it as the gospel.
I don't have plans to get goats. I can't have animals where I live. I watch them virtually by watching yours and other farm channels. I do appreciate you sharing your wisdom and experience with them.
You and I do the same. I do have a dog but I would love to have all the animal that Jason and Brooke have so I too live virtually lol through them. It is so good to know I am not the only one LOL God bless.
I pass a pasture of beautiful lil goats and lots of babies. Its rained for 4 days in a row. I mean really hard. Those poor little goats gathered in the corner together. Not even as much as a tree to give them shelter. IT BREAKS MY HEART. I feel so very sorry for them.
Midlands of SC no lights since 4 am. Our pecan tree has limbs down everywhere. Normally get 300# in a good year. Won't get that this year. My 99 yr old mama loves her tree. My sister and I say she loves it more than us. Prayers for everyone now and future from this storm.
Learned so much about goats in this video. Not to mention when Phi Phi had 3 babies who survived because you and Brooke knew what to do. Plus Brooke is a great mama.
Yea…..I don’t see myself having goats. My husband wants goats, but I’m the one who does everything for the animals (chickens and rabbits) and I don’t think I could handle all that. Plus the expense! Hubs thinks you just let a goat eat the weeds and don’t have to buy feed. Regular vet visits, medications, feed, etc….we can’t afford it. He is disabled and I am retired. My 30 yr old brain thinks I can do all the things, but my 60 year old body has other ideas.
That is some good information that y'all have just gave I have been interested in getting Dairy goats for my own personal use and everything you told us today explains why you need to be very cautious on buying goats I love watching your Channel I have learned so much I'm from cattle ranchers but I ain't getting into cattle I'm 64 years old and I just won't like two or three days and a buck just for dairy products only
Your husband sounds like my brother-in-law who told my husband that he was going to put a couple of cows out in his pasture so they would keep the grass down and cows didn’t require any attention. My husband was raised on a farm and had a good laugh.
You explain everything so all should understand . Goats are very cute but would not get any. Thanks for sharing your goat information with all of us. Your goats are very sweet too!
I am and think I was born in wrong area I envy what you have and do but then my 65 yr old body tells me I'm too old for what ya a!l do so ill just enjoy watching you do it all. Hope you are all safe from the weather in Florida
It’s so wonderful that you have such a beautiful farm family. Thank you for teaching us about so many things…not just goats, but birds and gardening and even frogs. You are so positive, so upbeat, so fun but consequently, people who’ve never had the privilege of living outside of the city don’t realize farm life is not a walk in the park. You work so relentlessly, but you make it seem joyful and easy, and I for one love your channels! I grew up on a working cattle ranch. I understand the ups and downs, the obligations and responsibilities, the joys and sorrows. We never raised goats, and I had no idea they were so challenging, I only had the knowledge they were escape artists and many were ornery, and I didn’t want them. I still don’t, 😂😂 but you’ve shown with proper planning, care and love, they’re wonderful hobby farm pets. Thank you for educating, explaining and sharing your farm life. You are a beautiful family. ❤❤❤
On days that I’m feeling down, I find videos of baby goats playing. You can’t help but smile and laugh watching their funny antics. Thank you for sharing your farm life with us. God bless you
Very important video. I have seen a single goat with a family member that was not the way a goat should live but I could not convince them. It was a lonely sad goat. Drove me bonkers. I could just sit and watch your goats all day. They are so beautiful.
Informative video! I love goats but will never have any since I don’t live on a farm. I live vicariously through your videos. You are the best farm channel on YT. ❤
Love seeing you 🤩🤩💖💖 with your goats. That way I don't have to feed them or clean up after them. You are doing a good 👍👍👍 job. Don't forget to go vote.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I've added a cup of white vinegar to the wash for pet beds, etc. Some people add baking soda with it. But just the white vinegar got pup pee out of the bed he decided to hike his leg on. I've also heard from a friend a cup of vodka takes smells out as well. But I think I'd be like you on the buck rut smells. There is nothing like a strong urine smell. Plus, it's been out fermenting in the sun. Whew weee! That's got to be rugged. Lol 🤣
Plus, unlike with dogs or cats, male goat pee, when the hormones are raging, is itself just smells way stronger, then they pee on themselves for weeks on end. Friends of ours had a buck goat and I reached out to touch him-- yikes just sticky, gooey feel and like Jason says, impossible to wash off.
Good morning. I love my goats. I also have Nigerian dwarf and Nubians but I also have mini Nubians. When you were talking about snacks and bananas…it is so true, some love it and some don’t care for it. Have you tried feeding the peel as well? Mine love eating the peel.
Yes I just got back up it's in the afternoon my time here in Philadelphia Pennsylvania is 1234pm . You guys are my favorite channel and I really mean this because you can feel the pureness in you guys ❤
Good gracious Jason! I’m a housewife from Kent UK and I found this video so interesting! In fact I’ve been following you for at least five years now and can’t wait to see what you and Brook are up to next. I could listen to you both all day long. Sending love and hugs…stay safe 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love goats. If I was 40 to 50 years younger and knew what I know now I would definitely have a small farm and have goats & chickens & pigs & all the animals. But alas, I am not that young anymore so I just live vicariously through y’all. I can love all y’all’s babies without the hard work or expense of taking care of them. Lol
Great video! I always thought I wanted a mini donkey and a small goat. Then I started to think I need two of each. Alas, I am a city girl and I don't think my neighbors would appreciate either! And the only reason I thought I needed them at all was for hugs!
lol..neighbors just might object! 😂😂 Maybe a loving kitty or even a bird would suit your lifestyle better. Animals are great companions. You just want to choose the right ones for your environment and circumstances. Do your research first and I’m sure you will find the perfect fit! 😊
@@jodiedwards2634 I’m a long time dog lover. I lost my best buddy a couple years ago and at 69 I just don’t think it would be fair to have another. I love all animals really and have been fortunate enough to have all kinds in my life, including two baby skunks when I was around 8 yrs old. They had been orphaned and my grandfather found them and brought them to me much to my mother’s dismay. But I mean, who would NOT want a donkey??? 😊😊
Thank you, Jason and Brooke. You saved me from a miserable experience. I initially wanted goats when I started, but got chickens instead😊 Thank God. After this video, I am glad. After this video, I have no desire to get them. I will just love on my neighbors. ❤
I have goats and haved raised them now for 8 yrs. Everything Jason says is 100% correct. They are alot of work for sure but to me, well worth it. I have nigerian dwarf goats as well. Only other thing I would say is to research your area that you will be keeping your goats to find out about the soils and the water and the land they will be grazing for unwanted poisonous plants or trees.
You're the best, Jason. I applaud you for creating this type of educational video. You help so many people (and animals) by sharing your knowledge and experience.
thank you so much for this very informative information. about 5 years ago, i was handed 5 newborn baby goats that had been born under horrible circumstances. i knew nothing about goats. we knew enough to no the babies had to have mamas first milk, so we did manage to get it down all of them. to make a long story short, i bottle raised those babies, and yes, they did all survive. one had a birth defect in one of his hind legs, so he became known as tripod. i loved those babies and they loved me. i started learning quick on how to care for them, but of course, i still have so much more to learn. im not young, but my husband and i try hard to make sure they are taken care of and the love continues. we have lost a few thru the years, and it is heart breaking for sure. we live in a rural area, and even after all this time, we have yet to find a vet that will make house calls. yall are very fortunate. i wish there was more doctor d's around. once again, i want to thank you and brooke so much for all you do. love watching all of you and your animals. your fan vonda, from texas

Yes I was going to tell Jason about Chad at Doss Farm But I know they are Buddies. He Lost all his Goats that way heard him say the other day might not be any more Goats but wants Chickens again sad he lost Cowboy getting set up in his new place :( I have enjoyed watching Him again and Thank Jason for helping him get started. He sure Loves MC.. speaks of her a lot!!
I just love all the honest information on goats that newbies aren’t aware of. They look so easy in care but little health issues we don’t know. And finding a vet for care can be hard to find. So a big thanks. 🐐🐐. Love to all 🐈⬛🐈⬛🐈🐖🐖🐖🐐🐓🐓🐓🐄🐂🐕🐕🐕🪿🐣🦚
Thank you for sharing your knowledge about goats. The City of Calgary has goats on Nose Hill to take care of weeds. The goats do a great job. They have a "goatherder" who watches over them.
Thank y’all because you averted a crisis. I was going to get 2 Pygmy goats because I want underbrush clearing on my half acre as well as goat cheese and Cabrito. A lot of people do that out here in East Texas. So I thought about taking their advice and getting two pygmy goats. I wasn’t exactly happy about the veterinarian bills, but it still still seemed cheaper than a riding lawnmower. But now you told me that I could possibly get musk smell on me that I cannot wash off for days and that’s a dealbreaker. it’s not because I worry about anyone else smelling me because I only go into town once a month for supplies that’s how much of a hermit I am. The problem is that I’m one of these people that if I cannot get away from a smell and it’s so strong I can’t stop smelling it for a long period of time, no matter if it’s a good smell or a bad smell, I will literally go nuts. I found out when I was very little, that it’s just something I was born with. Bad smells don’t bother me and I’m not a sissy about changing diapers or cleaning cat boxes or taking care of dirty chicken coops and all of that stuff. I raise chickens for meat and eggs and I butcher roosters so it’s not that kind of squeamish girlie kind of thing. The first time my family found out about my problem it was honeysuckles. My aunt let me eat as many nectar drops out of the flowers on the honeysuckle hedge at their house. She didn’t know that after a certain amount you get violently ill without warning. so after about 100 honeysuckle drops, I lost my lunch right through my nose and everything. But that honeysuckle smell stayed inside my sinuses for days and it was all I could smell. After about an hour I was complaining that I couldn’t stop smelling the flowers. I was too little to tell them any other way. Then I started crying and I could not be stopped. Eventually, I started running in circles around their house. Finally collapsed thrashing and pulling my hair and wailing like a wounded animal. Even yelling at me and telling me I’d get a spanking if I didn’t stop throwing a fit wasn’t helping and they finally realized it was a medical emergency and took me to the hospital where I was sedated before I could go into medical shock. To this day, I’m not fond of honeysuckle smell even though it smells wonderful. it just triggers something. In my lifetime I’ve had a handful of situations with various smells that I could not get away from and it always goes very bad. I have no idea what would happen if I got sprayed by a skunk, but I would head to the hospital immediately to get some kind of sedation. Eventually, medical science found out that only certain people are genetically predisposed to this kind of thing. They don’t know why smells in some people trigger such violent reactions even if it’s a good smell that they like. So you see, if I got Buck smell on me, but I could not wash it off, that would be a real problem. It’s already bad enough that my neighbors occasionally decide to burn their trash because they don’t pay their pick up bill. And when that comes into my house and I cannot get rid of that smell for hours and hours it’s all I can do to keep myself from going over there and being hysterical. 😂 I’m not kidding. I have to self medicate or it’s gonna go very bad very fast. at my age I don’t cry anymore. I get angry. 😂 I save the crying for after the angry doesn’t work. 😂 so I just had to tell you thank you so much for this video because if I had not found that out, I would’ve had a huge problem on my hands… Literally. I know, for a fact, the goat would not have survived it, and the buzzards would’ve been very happy campers, but the local medical clinic that has never treated me yet since I’ve been out here probably would not have been as understanding as I would require. It’s not something many people know about. Being out here as a solo senior, it’s important to avoid situations like that as much as possible. I love your videos, and have been watching for over a year. It’s been very helpful to me as well as entertaining. Blessing & joy be with you & yours. ☮️
On someone else's video, they said vodka gets rid of cigarette/smoke smell in clothes. Maybe trying vodka on the smelly goat clothes when you wash them? Add a cup of vodka to the wash.
I would have loved to had a goat when I was young but we never did live where we could have any. Right now we only have one acre land and I’m too old to be available to care for them so I just watch you I don’t get the hugs but I see them. God bless
I really like the way the goats keep the underbrush cleared in their pasture area and I am sure that it cuts down on some of the work that might be required for you to keep those areas clean and usable 😅
💕 with the condition I have been given I am very 😢 about with a world FULL OF uncertainty, when "we" were told that "we" would get updates, I don't think "we" were told we would HAVE TO watch the Live!?? Why would ANYONE do that?? I have been watching this channel for 2-4 years and now I am NOT going to get a update!? I have to say I am VERY Hurt and disappointed, so now I have to remember that if ANY of Cog Hill say you WILL get updates, it will MEAN only on the live So because I am busy on weekends I will NOT have the update! I now know how to understand this
Goats are beautiful animals. We had a few for our racehorses. Friends of mine have goats, and they built them a playground. It has a shelter high off the ground, with wooden ramps that had stripes of wood up to the top. The goats all love it. I hope you both have a great day my friends ❤️🙂⚘️🚜.

Hello Cog Hill!
U two r a wealth of information. May God bless u and keep u always!! ❤️❤️😊😊🙏🙏
On someone else's video, they said vodka gets rid of cigarette/smoke smell in clothes. Maybe trying vodka on the smelly goat clothes when you wash them? Add a cup of vodka to the wash.
Very interesting and informative, Jason you are great with explaining! I very much liked it, even as Swiss City Woman! Hello from🇨🇭Barbara
I would have loved to had a goat when I was young but we never did live where we could have any. Right now we only have one acre land and I’m too old to be available to care for them so I just watch you I don’t get the hugs but I see them. God bless
💜🐐💜🐐💜
❤️❤️❤️
I really like the way the goats keep the underbrush cleared in their pasture area and I am sure that it cuts down on some of the work that might be required for you to keep those areas clean and usable 😅
💕 with the condition I have been given I am very 😢 about with a world FULL OF uncertainty, when "we" were told that "we" would get updates, I don't think "we" were told we would HAVE TO watch the Live!??
Why would ANYONE do that??
I have been watching this channel for 2-4 years and now I am NOT going to get a update!?
I have to say I am VERY Hurt and disappointed, so now I have to remember that if ANY of Cog Hill say you WILL get updates, it will MEAN only on the live
So because I am busy on weekends I will NOT have the update!
I now know how to understand this
Goats seem like a full time job in and of themselves!! This was a really good video.
Very informative video. You folks are the best!
Thanks Jason and Brooke for all the information and sharing your knowledge about goats. I learn so much from you two! ❤😊
