2023 October - How Spatial Science Saves Birds and Their Habitats with Keilani Bonis-Ericksen

The geospatial program at Audubon California integrates science and technology into conservation programs to protect birds and the places they need today and in the future. Keilani will present an overview what the geospatial program does, the conservation partners they work with, their reach and focus regions, and examples of projects that have been done here in California. She will go into more detail about her work mapping the intersection of public lands and priority conservation regions to inform California’s 30x30 efforts as well as the recently released project in which they used community outreach and spatial analysis to inform the State of California’s implementation of public access at the Salton Sea.
