Yea, can't imagine how they got to some of the food we buy from stores now. Because the wild ones are either poisonous or you have to cook them very well in order for them to be edible.

There needs to be more, Ben going insane as all his friends become mushrooms. He either tries to cure them or join them out of insanity.

Oh, imagine a post-apocalyptic/horror style video where everyone but Ben are mushrooms.
It is later revealed that BEN was the one on shrooms
And while Ben's slowly being driven insane we see what's happening at the game headquarters, which is either:
a) Panic over what the marketing department did to keep players in the game, not playing mind you, but instead trapped in the game in a vegetative state that they may never return from.
b) The Board trying to make sense of the programmers explanations, ESPECIALLY when they start talking about "Mushrooms all the way down".
c) Some government agency agent trying to negotiate with the villainous mastermind behind all this shrooming, some player going by the name Greg.....whose apparently a Garlic Farmer in search of his wife.
d) They're trying to get some technical assistance in fixing their game so they call......Techtown.

Art department must be super proud of themselves for that prop. I look forward to seeing it in the odd skit or background of videos for the next ten years.

Can't wait for everyone Ben knows and all the NPCs to be mushrooms as Ben slowly slips further and further into mushroom based insanity.
When viewed out of order, he tried finding out how to cure Britt and Adam, but Ben skipped all the dialogue and Greg, Bodger and Baradun died (4 yrs ago "The problem with skipping cut scenes").
Plottwist:
it was Ben that ate the Mushrooms, and the resulting Hallucinations make him see everyone turning into mushrooms
Sounds outrageous.
By the end he realized that the only thing left that he can do is turn into a mushroom himself.
I like how they had a giant mushroom prop, and they decided to use it again immediately instead of throwing it away.

Considering Britt purposely got her 100 mushrooms while Adam got his by accident, this means Adam has been consuming random herbs for a VERY long time.

Adam will literally pick up rotting rats and eat them for the health regen over the disease debuff. This doesn't surprise me in the least.
The absurdism _and slight stupidity_ of the sudden mushroom for Ben to be angry at got me laughing again. Remember kids, punchline recycling is an art.
And they resisted the temptation to have been say "Ah no not this shit again" so that the skit works even if you haven't seen the first one where Brit was a mushroom.
We still don't know what "players" experience once mushroomed, so I'm possibly looking forward to a future that reveals this?
If you get mushroomed in the game you get mushroomed in real life.
Everyone must turn into a mushroom with Ben getting angry at them for it.

This nails the videogame experience SO WELL! I loved all the effects when Adam ate that stuff. I always wince at my Skyrim character getting poisoned by random alchemist ingredients.

@@azrani2023 I really don't know, when I discovered that I could eat an ingredient to know its properties, I simply kept eating all types of ingredients, then I suddenly died.

It's fun watching Ben basically be a parent with how he's having to tell Adam repeatedly not to eat random shit he finds. As soon as I saw the mushroom I had a pretty good guess what was going to happen to Adam. I really want to see where you guys are going with the mushroom deal.

Trial and error is a harsh way to live in video games, Adam, but it does make for some entertaining content.
Need to do it to unlock herb traits, otherwise you can make potions. Yeah, it's rough, but necessary.
At least in video game, you know that if method A doesnt work, you can try method b. Health field really funny
That or you end the game with bags of things you don't use.
Yeah, trial and error would be rough. It's way better to just Google an herbalist guide for the game.

When the citizens of Honeywood find out that enough adventurers have carried spores of these mushrooms into town to create an infestation of them.
And the spores are what changes the inhabitants to mushrooms as well, increasing the speed at which transformations occur...
Until all of Honeywood has turned into mushrooms.

Head canon: The small mushrooms are actually just the adult version of the giant mushrooms. Yes, the mushrooms get smaller as they get older. So every time someone eats a small mushroom, they're eating a person who turned themselves into a mushroom.

This is literally how I started learning alchemy in Skyrim, eating every thing I found and the finding out what it did. Just like a baby!
Yeah, with the time over the years I have put into the game. You would think my brain had dedicated more memory to what any ingredient does, but the most basic.
I found alchemy in Skyrim to be a lot less useful than in Oblivion.
We are lucky that there is no "stuff it in your nose" option in these games.
Real-life babies are full of surprises, ending with an ER visit.
In Oblivion (and probably in Skyrim, too, but I haven't played it) the game actively encouraged you to do so not only to find out what the ingredients do as a player, but as literally pretty much the only way for the character to get his first skill points in alchemy until he had enough skill points to brew useful potions.

The mushroom is becoming my favorite character. It's got amazing comedic timing.
This is developing into my favorite story arc!
Nothing beats eating every item in your inventory while the game is paused only to unpause and have the entire lot take effect at once.
This "turn into a giant mushroom" bit is cracking me up way more than it should, and I'm sure they're going somewhere with it. Unlike Adam, who is not going anywhere anymore, ever.

This just reminded me of a conversation a few years ago. Worked at a sandwich shop a decade ago. A few years ago i had to change my diet due to intolerances and health conditions requiring me to cut them (inflammation mainly). Go in and ask for the ingredients list so i can make an informed decision. Cashier asks what happens when i eat the wrong things. Answer? Pain. "So you're like a modern caveman having to eat things to find out what does and doesnt kill you" strangely that was the best discussion about my food problems.

This would've been the perfect set up for Ben shouting "NO NOT THAT ONE"... while he's already chewing it.. and then a deep sigh followed by "Not again.."
Next skit could be about accidentally eating the wrong thing from your inventory, in the middle of a battle, turning you into a giant mushroom.

Theres a great series that starts with a book called The Two Week Curse. One of the characters does this constantly and everyone around him considers him insane but hes destroying other more experienced alchemists due to his odd methods
