I still can’t believe AC/DC did the soundtrack for this movie. Honestly, I’m happy they did, since it gave us The Who Made Who song, which is one of my favorites from the band
Usually they didn't. I just watched the Professor of Rock segment on the song and sound track. Generally they considered things like greatest hits albums just money grabs but they and King were massive mutual fans of each other, in fact King planned out scenes in the movie listening to the soundtrack with the songs in mind. So whatever the reason, they agreed to work with him. There were pretty high expectations around the movie given who played a part in it.i think this affects the movie's rep. its definately not the best but its not the worst either.

This film will always remain in a soft place in my heart. This movie changed my life. I remember seeing this shortly after my whole family died in a tragic car-plane collision. It was an all time low for me and I don't think I will ever forget it, but maximum overdrive helped through the hard times by distracting me with it's incredible plot and acting. The world felt so real, this is truly Stephen Kings best work and a masterpiece.
Cape Fear memorial bridge over the cape fear river in Wilmington, NC. I've driven over that bridge hundred of times and always think about this song and this scene.
@@roykeene8868 Was lucky enough to drive a tractor trailer over this bridge back in the day. Remembered the opening scene of this film immediately. It was almost a religious experience! Lol. I never knew the name of the bridge tho, so thanks for this info! 👌
Yes, that's Stephan King high out of his mind on coke. You can even see his nostrils flare from him sniffing back remnants mid-scene. FACK: Stephen King was on a coke binge while directing this and can't remember writing large portions of multiple books due to experimentation with several drugs in the 70s-80s.
@@davidmurphy1207 It shows. But, I still enjoy the hell out of this movie because of how ridiculous it is. And you can't beat AC/DC doing the score for movie!

C’mon, you’ve got tons of driverless tractor trailers, Emilio, and some killer AC/DC tunes, give me some popcorn and that my friend is a good night! Good ol Steven King might’ve had a few screws loose back then, but hey, he did have excellent taste in music! ⚡️
Many highschool and college road trips to the beach ended with this song playing when we crossed the bridge into Wilmington NC. Kunda became a tradition to play it.
A classic that I get a craving to watch every year or two. He may not have been a great director but the guy has some extremely interesting scenes in this. I love the ballons coming out of the sewer in the scene where the kid's on his bike seeing the aftermath of the carnage through his nighborhood. It's a nice nod to IT.
ACDC absolutely made this film. I love how right out of the gate they set the tone and lack of fucks given in this movie and I think it stands on its own for it.
@@qstan1999 then his truck got stuck right in the middle of the bridge as it was going up & while the driver was flooring it trying to get it unstuck, the bridge tore the rear axle right off & then the truck fell right down into the river with him still in it.

I love this movie... though one question I've always had was what exactly determined whether a machine came to life or not?... because it's clear not all machines were alive throughout the movie.
From what I gathered, machines powered by diesel, battery, or electricity are affected. Gas powered engines are not affected, however a car's gauges are powered by the vehicle battery. Which is why we see several junk cars flashing their lights later on. The only exceptions to this are the sprinklers which aren't powered by anything and the lawnmower which I have to assume is powered by gas. That's probably the closest I can come to an explanation.
