Famous meme says "Why not both?" So my opinion is that atomic bombs could be and probably were both - the warning to USSR and try to avoid costly invasion. And in my personal opinion at the end saved many lives on the both sides.
My uncle was in the Second Marines. He never talked about it.
My father was in Korea. 1/RUR. He didn't talk much either. I think that soldiers don't have much to say to people who haven't shared their experiences. They think, with good reason I suppose, that civilians won't understand
@@daveanderson3805 My father came back from USSR / Ukraine 1941 / 45
he didn`t talk much either . " An international behaviour ." 🤭
Mein Vater kam aus der UdSSR / Ukraine 1941 / 45 zurück und sagte auch nichts ,
ein " internationales Verhalten " 🤭

Good history Channel
It was an informative and wonderful military analysis video about American attacking of saipan, Okinawa, and Eyogima islands during WW2 on the Pacific Ocean. I think enormous numbers of American casualties are utilized as provoking opinions of atomic bombs utility against two cities in Japan. In reality, the USA didn't have the desires for the USSR, has significant roles in Japanese capitulation .. because the USA wanted its complete dominant upon Pacific Ocean without USSR competition after WW2. Besides, the USA 🇺🇸 indirectly threatened the USSR. Stalin understood the massage. Thank you, an amazing ( War Academy) channel, for sharing this wonderful video .
Good history channet

*_NO MORE WAR!_*
youre the First to GET DRAFTED! sissy
I consider myself to be somewhat of a WW2 history buff and I am of the viewpoint that Iwo Jima was a very "unnecessary" battle that came at an extremely high cost in American lives. It was originally planned as a launching pad for fighter planes to escort American bombers as they attacked Japan itself once the island was secured. But by that point in the war, Japanese Airforce was a shell of its former self. And already was not offering much in the way of an impedance for American Bombers over Japan by that point in the war. Yes, it gave a location for damaged bombers to land if needed. But the cost in American lives lost taking that island was extremely high for that alone.
Kinda odd that you show an AVRO Lancaster in this vid.
I thought you’d include Peleliu too which was a hybrid of Saipan & Tarawa.
The only reason the bombs were dropped is they had cost so much to make that some of both the scientists and top military people wanted to see if they worked.i believe that both bombs worked differently to each other.with exploding before it hit the ground.
Which one is worse in terms of casualties? The Pacific theatre, or European? For USA.
The Eighth Air Force in Europe lost more men than the Marine Corps lost in the entire war.
My Dad landed on Saipan on June 15 D day he told me it was the worst campaign he was on he was in the 2 Division
Emperor huroito?
Im no expert but i thought it was buckner the marine genreal killed
It is not correct that the civilians on Okinawa "would not surrender under any circumstances" [23:10] Many did surrender. The problem for the civilians is that Japanese soldiers would kill them if they tried to surrender,
Marines USMC Naval Service, Not Soldiers US Army.
Man,for Ages that everyone knows that the Horrendous War Crime that was the Nuclear Attacks on Japan, were /are one of the Greatest Propaganda Stunts in History.
Unfortunably for hundreds of thousands innocent Japonese civilians, that died and suffer Agonizing deaths with the Sole Purpose of "Scaring" Stalin and the Soviets.
This is computer voice. That's too bad
