We had a thought - if we mix together every holographic microflake that we have, will we get a rainbow car? We mix Silver, Gold, Burnt Orange, Apple Green, Lake Blue and Light Purple Holographic Flakes and you won't believe how it turns out!

Haven’t showed my wife yet, but I know her first words will be “Fonzie needs to do this on a white base coat!” She constantly wants to see more ideas like this on a white base to get a crazy iridescent white.

That's just how rainbows work and it's absolutely beautiful! 🌈🤩
It's the nature of how the holographic effect is created-the particles have to be a particular shape. This example is called linear holo; even scatter holo does this with a looser effect as seen on a lot of their projects.

Would love to see all these colors sprayed individually by one coat each on top of each other. And sprayed over a white base coat . Love it on the darker base . Great mix .
At first, I had my doubts too, but wow! Turned out amazingly!!!
When mixing, and it turned brown...I thought this is going to look like heck.
But when the camera can't even keep up with the flip flop of the dip, that's a success!

Totally thought this was going to show like an oiled bronze, but I was WRONG!! Delicious is my first reaction. Amazing work. I know Fonzi said they laid 4 clear coats to manage the flake texture, but I still want to know if that gave a smooth finish. Parts of the reveal look smooth, other angles look very textured.
Either way, I'm in!
Before I see the finished product, I’m going to assume it’s going to look rather brown.

My jaw literally dropped as soon as I saw - it's so INTENSE! This is better than the glitterbomb Mustang! It's gorgeous. I couldn't even drive that, I'd be sitting outside, staring at it all day.
I’m surprised how well the holographic showed, almost emphasized. And that antique bronze tint it had while mixing does not show at all. Really like how it turned out.

I was a bit unpleased with the apple green and lighter blue thinking maybe a darker one should be used, but, the effect was mad crazy poppin. I was thinking that is a great base, how to make it Impossible to hate? A candy cover, yeaaaaahhhh, but what color? Would a color shift work better? And the questions continue.
Omg!! I have a new 2nd favorite… and it might even have surpassed my favorite! Not only is is rainbow colors, which I love so much, it’s SPARKLY!! ❤ My favorite was a 1000, so this one is a 999!!

As you were going through the colors at the beginning, all I could think was: Dip Your Car ASMR
It reminds me of a friend in high school, late 80s-early 90s. He painted his Chevette Charcoal gray with rainbow metal flake. Another friend used his leftovers to do his old CB750. The whole time, I kept saying"Its gonna be brown, why didn't he just use rainbow metal flake". I am actually impressed at how it came out, and I don't know if you can still buy rainbow metal flake. I haven't seen it in 30 years or so.

this is a very sparkly 5 it is a bronze looking the mixture but on the black car, it looks just awesome!!! I really wonder , as your wife might say, how strong the effect would be on a lighter color ... let's say c47 , gold or even silver , white might be an option to think about... just suggesting... but awesome results on this project...

The definitely worked!! I’d like to see a little step back and try just a couple colors at a time like green/blue or red/blue…
Drive the car yes but straight to get a nice deep gloss put on it. All the glittery stuff still just looks like a 1970s drum set.
I really wish you could get a true gloss on plastidip, a lot of these colors they do would be amazing looking without that texture that dip always has

Do you need to apply extra layers of "seal" midcoat layers for microflakes if you are going to apply DipArmor layers on top? Would the diparmor layers enough to cover the flakes? Thanks

Interesting but the tint really changed when the Lake Blue was added (remember that color wheel?). I'd like to see the first three, Silver, Golf and Burnt Orange together.

That was certainly a lot more fantastic than I believed it would be, only wondering if a lighter base coat would have shown off the colours more?
A couple layers of clear on top of this would look better, but I think you got the effect you were looking for 👍
He did put on like 4 layers of top coat
All holographic dip jobs look great... but in this one, it came out a little brown for my tastes. Maybe try it without the burnt orange?
