  • In this video, I explore OpenAI's latest release, the 01 model, rumored to be built on the new Strawberry architecture, by testing its capabilities in creating a synthwave-themed game. I showcase the model's advanced reasoning features and compare its performance to GPT-4. The video includes a live demonstration of the AI generating game assets and mechanics. I wrap up with an analysis of the model's performance in this creative challenge, discussing its potential for future advancements and applications in game development and beyond.

    This system was tested in competitive programming, not in the creation of complex software products. The same goes for math, physics, and chemistry. So it is not surprising that it shows so many errors.

    It looks like an improvement over 4o's code but Sonnet 3.5 looks like it iterates much better.

      I found 4o's code to be overall very unsatisfactory and had switched to Sonnet 3.5 for any code-related tasks. The Claude interface does seem more ergonomic and the split-window thing it does when generating code is a nice touch.

    This is very cool. I know almost nothing of programming and used the old GPT 4o to make a playable game. I just told it to make a silly game and it came up with "Alien Cowbell Hunt" on its own. I generated some simple graphics+title screen with an image generator and a soundtrack for the title screen with Udio and downloaded some free sound effects. Not that hard at all. The hardest part was to make Windows not see it as malware...

      That is a fantastic example of the usefulness of this technology. It can accelerate both productivity and learning compared to being limited to "traditional" methods like one would have been a few years ago.

      I am happy with it - but not with the embarrassingly low limits!

    Oh hell yes. I played with it for a few minutes and it's amazing. I've been using cursor for the last few weeks and this seems like it will be a welcomed upgrade.
    Like just brainstorming that I could create full fledge games depending on your patience. Which ironically mine is very high. Lol.
    Amazing demo though and that's so exciting.

      I share the high patience haha. Yes, it is very cool and just nice to see continued progress in this space, though I do admit seeing progress like this concerns me in regards to the eventual point in which open source may cease to be able to keep up realistically.

      @@OminousIndustries Yeah.......... There is that. Like it is almost going too fast. Like where do we plateau at?

    • @OminousIndustries
      @OminousIndustries  24 дні тому

      @@TheInternalNet I'm okay with the speed of progress, especially as it is something that will continue regardless. I just hope that open source can keep within the same arena at this point.

    yes, this is really going to help with indy game development . amazing

      Between this and some of the other technologies, such as the music gen models and even some that are capable of generating 3d meshes based off 2d photos, it is definitely a good time to be an indie game dev. It can really expand your potential and help you progress far faster than you otherwise would have.

    In your opinion, can O1 replace a python coder or someone who builds machine learning models using python?

    • @OminousIndustries
      @OminousIndustries  24 дні тому

      A complete replacement, not currently. However I believe that its capable of heavily augmenting someone with a basic understanding of python. Essentially if you know enough to actually put together what it is outputting, it can enhance your coding abilities to a much higher level, provided you have the basics down and can 'babysit' the output. It is capable of helping with ML architecture and setting up the models, as this is something I was using older versions like 4o for.
