It may be a little less than with the smaller wheel cause it has to throw around a bigger wheel but I don’t think it is to bad! Honestly I can’t really even notice a difference
Ok so I’m not sure you will reply to this... however, I was planning to get the Ferrari formula one wheel. Do you know if it comes with the little bit that you need to plug in to the back for the buttons to work, or is that not essential for them to work. Would just screwing it on do the job. Obviously I want the buttons and knobs that are on the wheel to work. I just want some advice before I make the purchase.
@Seth Weerasinghe The Formula 1 wheel is for the tx and that has a different mounting system that I don’t think would be able to add on a tmx wheel adapter. And if you use the adapter I did it would have to be a 6 bolt kinda road car wheel unless there was some way to modify it to fit inside the Ferrari F1 adapter but idk how sturdy that would be. And I want to say that depending on which device you play on you can not have the buttons or you need them. Forza for example you need to sign into your Xbox profile and that is critical to play the game so you need the buttons or the steering wheel just won’t work. And If you use a different controller to sign in it just won’t work but on pc for the other hand you can just completely remove the wheel and not need the buttons. Just sign in with a separate controller and your hood to go. That’s what I have done since my swap over to pc and yea it works great. But I’m sorry to say that I don’t know much about the Ferrari wheel but looking at pictures I don’t think it would be possible to make work on the tmx. Hope this helped
If your on pc yes you can disconnect the wheel all together, if your on Xbox no because you need to press A on the wheel to sign you into your profile and doing it on a separate controller won’t work.
@DigzZy I don’t think you can, idk if there is a adapter out there or if you could 3D print a custom adapter, if there is I don’t know about it but no I don’t think you can. And you would not be able to use the buttons if you did get it on.
Does your tmx also have backlash(free play) when turning the wheel, I'm pretty sure it does as it is a manufacturer defect I belive, do you know how to fix it cuz ITS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!
@@JohnnyXR7 yeah, it's a minor play but once you notice it's there you can't not notice it. It's due to the plastic gears, I'm trying to fix it rn but it's really annoying and tough to fix it, I just need a proper rubber band that can fit in between the two gears
@@Zaidi_227 yea, only counter I can think for that other than the rubber band might be to up your sensitivity in game so if you have a higher sensitivity it might get rid of the play
I think it probably did dampen the feed back a tiny bit if I can remember but it’s been quite a while since I’ve owned the tmx, I wanted something that would be better for drifting.
theres no difference between the actual wheel base of the TMX or TMX pro. the only difference is with the TMX you get a 2 pedal set, with the TMX pro you get the standard t3pa pedals
If your on pc I think you can use a controller but on Xbox you need the wheel, or atleast the buttons. You could cut them out of the wheel if you wanted to
Division Nebula no problem!, but yea I know on both pc and console you can use a controller to maneuver the menus. Only thing with Xbox is having to sign into a Xbox acct when loading up forza, if you don’t have a A button connected to the wheel the wheel basically becomes useless so that’s why I had to rig the wheel up.
I have never owned a Logitech but I know that they do not have nearly as much of a counter steer as the tmx so if you want to drift that’s vital so i would recommend the tmx pro.
Hey man! Do you know if this will work with an open wheel and will the shifters work on it? I want an open wheel add on for my tmx and I want to see if it will work.
@AidenEnthusiasts If it has the 6 bolt pattern it should work but I don’t think you would be able to keep the paddles so you would have to get a manual shifter. Hope this helped!

I know it's been 2 years but I'm wondering did u make a button box for the wheel? I plan to swap my wheel also and I'm wondering how does yours look.
Sorry man but I never did get creative with that, I kept thinking I would try but never did make one. anyways I only had it with the swapped wheel for about a year before I upgraded to a fanatec.
you can get a cheap usb encoder and make a button box very easy
Ill have to look into that! Would it be very difficult?
@@JohnnyXR7 ua-cam.com/video/9L0RTzwSi0Y/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Carpythesharky No Its fairly cheap and pretty easy you just buy a encoder and buttons and wire each button to the desired slot. I used it on a arcade 1up. You could use a tupperware box for the encloser if you want to go cheap.
@@Moonrock_Fall thanks man!! Yea I’ll definitely have to check that out. Gonna be really useful if I get it working💯
I wish I would have watched this first. I just messed up my cord to the wheel also I ripped out the grey so I have to fix that and then reconnect my wheel?
Honestly ignorant that we NEED the button box
Are you on pc? You can get by without one but yea if your on Xbox that’s definitely not fun, and I agree, I don’t know why they made it so you can’t sign in to your profile with a controller and use the wheel also. Would make it so much easier

the main cord piece that plugs in to the circuit board, I accidentally ripped out the grey wire when it goes in to that plug at the end of the cord….
Is there a way to fix that ? 😕
There’s a little silver piece on the end of the grey wire that inserts in to that plug, so I’ll have to find a new little piece like that and idk if I would have to sauder the wire back to it ???? 🥵

Thank you so much for the help, I got one question I cant find out. im getting this wheel and base but can I swap the wheel itself and put in a different thrustmaster wheel and will it still work?

Thx for your answer in advance! 🙏🏻
Yes sir I do play on Xbox, and I’m not to sure if you can use it without the wheel on pc. I just assumed you would still need the buttons but thinking about it you don’t have a Xbox acct to sign in to on pc to it might work without them!

Hello, I watched the video well. But I couldn't understand everything in the video because I was not good at English.
So I have a question. If I will not use the controller (like the A B button), Can I completely remove that wheel at the main body?
If you are on pc you can take the wheel off but if your on Xbox you need the A button to sign into your wheels profile. If you don’t you can start the game up with another controller but the wheel won’t work at all. Hope this helps!
where do you find the wheel you replaced it with? I am planning to get one for my setup
@@Dorito_Crusher I found it on Amazon 👍
@@JohnnyXR7 i did too after i read ur reply, thanks!
if you do this and lose all those buttons is there any place to order more buttons?
for example i still have the regular wheel BUT, for a couple games i want to have more buttons avalible.
Like assetto corsa, I want to have basically alot of keybinds in there but my TMX PRO just doesnt have that many.
I doubt you could buy more Xbox buttons like that but you could probably rig up a real button box to work if you custom wired it and stuff.
@@JohnnyXR7 yep i found a cheap way for a button box, ordered a numpad for more keybinds
Do you need the old wheel connected if you just use a controller to start up the game
For Xbox yes, it needs to be the wheel itself that signs into the Xbox profile. But on pc you can just use a controller
So i have just the Leather edition wheel and want to put it on my TMX. Is there a way to disconnect the wire from the wheel or would i have to cut it?
If your talking about the from the wheel too the base yes the wire can be unplugged, you don’t need to cut it
Lmk if I get this right, so you have to sign in with the wheel to be able to use it on forza?
Yea that was my issue, atleast on Xbox. Pc should be fine
What is the wheel stand that you are using?
@Intel. Next level racing wheel stand lite
look into doing a bearing mod if you want better force feedback, very easy to do
@Asher I would have if I still owned it, last March I ended up upgrading to a fanatec setup👍 thanks for the tip though! Wish I knew about that when I had it.
@@JohnnyXR7 oh, nice! I've recently picked up a t150 so that's why I stumbled upon this video
This is for TMX and TMX PRO?
Yes it is!
@@JohnnyXR7 ok 👌
If I only use it for pc can I just remove the wires an run a Bluetooth button box to my pc
Yea you probably can
Quick question, if you don’t have the wheel attached, are you able to use it?
@DJRS9045 on pc yes you can remove the wheel, on Xbox tho you need it connected or else it just won’t work at all. Because on Xbox you need to sign into your profile on racing games and if you can’t do that it just won’t work. Hope this helps
@@JohnnyXR7 yeah it does help, cause I have a t150, was gonna do this mod, but I realised I need to login on PS4, wouldn’t be an issue on my laptop though, thanks for the info
Does this apply with the ts-xw base too? I'm gonna get sparco R345
@amixiaa I’m not to sure, i think you might have to find a ts-xw specific adapter cause it looks different
You know looking at it, I don’t want to say cause it looks like it might work so I’d have to do some looking into that. But for right now I wanna say I’m not to sure
hows the force feedback with a different wheel on it?
It may be a little less than with the smaller wheel cause it has to throw around a bigger wheel but I don’t think it is to bad! Honestly I can’t really even notice a difference
Ok so I’m not sure you will reply to this... however, I was planning to get the Ferrari formula one wheel. Do you know if it comes with the little bit that you need to plug in to the back for the buttons to work, or is that not essential for them to work. Would just screwing it on do the job. Obviously I want the buttons and knobs that are on the wheel to work. I just want some advice before I make the purchase.
Would it even be compatible for this base. I have the same base as you.
@@JohnnyXR7 thank you so much 🙌
@@Quandoa1234 no problem! Hope you can make something work out!
So if I don't need the buttons would I be able to disconnect the regular wheel ?
If your on pc yes you can disconnect the wheel all together, if your on Xbox no because you need to press A on the wheel to sign you into your profile and doing it on a separate controller won’t work.
@@JohnnyXR7 Ohh ok, I'm on pc so I'll probably just disconnect the wheel, thanks!
@@vitorsimoes2794 yea no problem! Hope you enjoy the swap💯
Hey i have a question can i put a trustmaster wheel like the Ferrari f1 wheel ?
@DigzZy I don’t think you can, idk if there is a adapter out there or if you could 3D print a custom adapter, if there is I don’t know about it but no I don’t think you can. And you would not be able to use the buttons if you did get it on.
@@JohnnyXR7 ok thanks you
Can the steering wheel and button box be separated from each other?
For pc yes but for Xbox no
Does your tmx also have backlash(free play) when turning the wheel, I'm pretty sure it does as it is a manufacturer defect I belive, do you know how to fix it cuz ITS DRIVING ME NUTS!!!
You know I can’t remember if my tmx did that and I don’t know how to fix that if it did, I’m sorry. I hope you can find a fix to that some where!
Bit late but what was the ffb like after?
I think it probably did dampen the feed back a tiny bit if I can remember but it’s been quite a while since I’ve owned the tmx, I wanted something that would be better for drifting.
@JohnnyXR7 thank you for the response I'm thinking of doing it to my tmx
congrats nice set up
Alan Dilaura thank you!!
So I can just use my controller to sign in and then my keyboard and mouse? I dont need to keep tge button box plugged in do I?
If your on pc you do not need to keep the button box on, it’s only if you are on Xbox that you have to
People saying you can't remove it but this is showing you can thanks :)
No problem!
Is this the normal tmx or the tmx pro?
This is the normal tmx built up with the shifter and clutch pedals, hope this helps!
theres no difference between the actual wheel base of the TMX or TMX pro.
the only difference is with the TMX you get a 2 pedal set, with the TMX pro you get the standard t3pa pedals
do you need to mount the wheel or can you just use a controller instead?
If your on pc I think you can use a controller but on Xbox you need the wheel, or atleast the buttons. You could cut them out of the wheel if you wanted to
JohnnyXR7 ah ok ty
Division Nebula no problem!, but yea I know on both pc and console you can use a controller to maneuver the menus. Only thing with Xbox is having to sign into a Xbox acct when loading up forza, if you don’t have a A button connected to the wheel the wheel basically becomes useless so that’s why I had to rig the wheel up.
i bet this problem is only if you are going to used it in a system but not on the pc because you have a keyboard and mouse lol
Could you do this to the t248?
Sorry to say by I’m not too sure if it will. I don’t know anything about the t248 so I can’t say for sure
Which wheel do u recommend for Xbox one I’m looking into the tmx pro and the Logitech g920
I have never owned a Logitech but I know that they do not have nearly as much of a counter steer as the tmx so if you want to drift that’s vital so i would recommend the tmx pro.
I have drove on one tho and I also thought that the tmx felt better quality also. So yea I’d still recommend the tmx
@@JohnnyXR7 alright thanks for the info
Oh so I can do a wheel swap on this wheel? I thought it wasnt possible but okay..

5:17 cant you just use a normal controller for that?
No because the wheel doesn't register as a controller until you sign in with it
Sapfire yea idk how your comment slipped my radar, sorry about responding so late! But yea Ryan MTB is right, when you sign in you have to to it on wheel. You can’t use another controller for logging in so without the A button it’s useless. You can use a controller once it is in game tho as a secondary

@DriftProYTSF I'm considering going this route with a TX wheelbase. Can't you just press A on the controller and then go into the menu and switch your input to a wheel manually? Or does that specific signal NEED to come from a wheel? If so I'm going to have to pick up a Sparco R383 Mod wheel to get buttons on a wheel I'll actually use.
