Great video, I just ordered a pair from Headlight Revolution. They were having a special on these. Did you trade in your stock headlight’s to Morimoto? They have paid to trade program. I can’t wait to get these installed.
The interface. My switch pro connections are easy to swap lights and connect more. I don't know which harness contains the DRL switch but for my setup it was easy to just use the switch pro. I suppose one could find that switch wire and use it to control a relay that runs a bunch of DRLs but that does not sound easy or changeable without extra work in the future.
When you adjusted the height setting, did you have to make any other adjustments to the “left right” setting? I closed everything up and didn’t even think about that screw adjustment that I can’t even get to now 🤷🏽♀️
This headlights are sharp! I have a morimoto tail lights. But definitely I’ll get this to replace my factory headlights. For me this is better looking than the morimoto’s. Thanks for the video!
Just arrived! I hope not to have any issues. I am LOVING the radio head unit swap! Going with an upgrade camera for rear, factory looks weird. Also going to install front camera and replace raptor lights while my bumper is off. Thanks man! From Colo...
@@OverlandEngineer I was up there a few times towards then end of the winters with my last 4runner and the salt latched on quick for me. Good times in Minnesota. Lived there for 20 yrs.
Hi Zack I just got these and I am brand new to the over-landing world. I took these to a shop to install… but a couple questions with your experience My right passenger side is not working for standard lights only runs DRL and the side amber light - why do you think that may be ? Second question when activating my high beam, my stock fog lights turn off. I noticed that happened when I put these in. Is that normal or do you have that as well? Also I feel that they are pointed down too much - these are adjustable on the height as you mentioned what adjustment worked for you Thank you!!
The right side is not working you say? Do you mean the low beams don't work? If the low beams don't work then it probably means there is a manufacturing issue or the people who installed it rushed and might have bent a pin or something. Hard to know... As for the high beam/fog situation, that is normal. You can't run your fogs and high beams simultaneously through the stock switches. If you ran the fog to an aftermarket switch then you could. I think the theory is in fog you would never run your high beams because fog would reflect them and its terrible for visibility so they assume you don't want to make that decision yourself and that high beams are for non-fog and fog lights are for fog...kinda lame in my opinion its not too complicated to control myself. Thats why my fogs are on my aftermarket switch panel. Hopefully that helps! I've heard lots of interesting things about aftermarket shop installs which is why I try to do everything myself...I'd rather screw it up and pay to fix some stuff rather than pay someone to install it and pay more for them to fix it. If it is a shop thing, I'd go back and tell them to fix it for free. You paid them to install it correctly. Tell them to troubleshoot it for you. If they determine its a factory defect, then you can contact GTR. Thats what I would do!
Thank you so much for the insight, I appreciate you taking the time to reach out!! I am here now and having them look at it 🤞🏼hoping not a defect and something they can fix today Appreciate it and great content on your channel!!
Tbh.. if these are anything like the GTR 2 LED bulbs I bought for almost $300... don't waste your time. The LED bulbs were about the same as stock.. and if you own a 5th gen 4runner, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
I don't know, I think they are plenty bright. Headlight Revolution also did a halogen comparison and these are twice as bright. They aren't advertising them as the craziest bright LED headlight. You are paying for the look and DRL as well.
Bro I install this headlights today and I have problem my passenger headlight don’t work the low and high beam.. my 4runner are 2022 I need to do something on the fuse box or something??
Do you know which harness they sent you? Currently my passenger low beams or high beams don't work. And I'm using the provided harness for my 2024 model
Yeah I know where you are coming from. My old headlights were brighter but I also pissed off a lot of people daily driving my rig. These are a nice balance because I have plenty of other lighting I could use if I cannot see anything.
Be super careful if you change your headlights. It is illegal in a lot of states to change your headlights as it is a potential hazard to other drivers when on-road. This is why you cant use your light bars on the road.
The Alpharex and GTR headlights are terrible. Not only are they dimmer than factory lighting, the hotspots in the headlight pattern are several degrees below their proper location (near the cutoff). ua-cam.com/video/kItoEHPgn98/v-deo.html This is a massive shift in pattern that moves the intensity too close to the truck. You can see in your driver perspective shots that the headlights reach about 30 feet in front of you (you'll cover this in about a third of a second at highway speed). This isn't about brightness or courtesy to other drivers. Even if they were brighter than stock (they're not) the pattern is unusable. They might be an aesthetic upgrade but they are downright dangerous to drive with.
My last headlights I started with them aimed higher and then moved them down to the perfect height. These are aimed probably still too low. There is no argument that is remotely logical to say either of those headlight options are worse than the stock halogens. I think they are plenty bright and even if the bulk of the intensity is near the vehicle, that is kind of the point of the low beams, the high beams are suppose to throw farther light. While the physics you are describing may be sound, the practical application I think is not as big a deal as you are saying. Now, maybe the stock LED headlights on the latest couple years are decent and comparable or better to these, I am not sure. My vehicle never had them. But I don't think I would be nickel and diming their output because both the GTR and AlphaRex lights look much better than stock LED headlights.
Bro I install this headlights today and I have problem my passenger headlight don’t work the low and high beam.. my 4runner are 2022 I need to do something on the fuse box or something??

Yeah it’s a sweet setup! That program is convenient. You might be able to get more if you sell used but just depends
What is the advantage of abandoning the stock DRL switch location on the headlight/turn-indicator light stalk and using the SP unit instead?
The interface. My switch pro connections are easy to swap lights and connect more. I don't know which harness contains the DRL switch but for my setup it was easy to just use the switch pro. Holy cow audio blast in intro.
Looks awesome, saw these on instagram, was wondering when you were going to make a video. Good work!
I was too excited to get them installed so figured I would do the video quick too!
Wow, they’re pretty nice. Just installed Morimotos a couple weeks ago.

Is it possible to make the DRL’s an amber instead of a clear?
Not yet, they will likely offer it as an option like morimoto XBs in the future.
It is for alpha rex
Only if it's the Luxx or nova though

Haha to engine swap a 5th gen?

Does it still use the same fitment for bulbs? H11s 9005s
Is the extra low beam also an H11?
I’m not sure what the bulb size is…It appears they have screwed on dust covers and I never took them off to check.
