Does anyone else find this video just so beautiful? I mean, it's a song from six with a full backing orchestra and choir, you see Natalie putting full emotion into it and vocal power, and at the end of the day, it's just a sound check? God I love theatre
When I hear Natalie sing this, I can actually picture her saying goodbye to her infant son, and all the gutwrenching emotion that comes with that. ''Soon I'll have to go, I'll never see him grow...but I hope my son will know, he'll never be alone.'' I was in tears. She really taps into the maternal instinct of her character.
This song is 3000x incredible live as it's meant to be live! I love the recording but Natalie makes me cry every single time I see it without fail and I've seen it 14 times she is outstanding! So outstanding that they have now started playing Six in shops in the UK woo :)
I consider this to be the quintessential rendition. I'm flying over from the US next month to see this. Natalie is the only one I would be devastated to have out.
It always makes my heart skip a beat when I hear the lyrics "But I know... Without my son, your love could disappear." and it makes me want to cry... That feeling that someone only loves you because you gave them what they want.
Jane Seymour was a scheming bitch who refused to even look at her ladies-in-waiting unless they wore a belt made of at least one hundred twenty pearls, so I think it's safe to say she would just ignore Natalie.
I love how the staging conceit of Six lets the performers put their whole bodies into the performance and really work the mics to get the effect they want. Natalie bends almost in half on those high notes, she really puts shows off the effort that goes into them!
My daughter was listening to this song and I hear it in the distance. When I heard the runs and fills I was like, "HOLD UP! Who the heck is that?!?" The problem I have with modern day song writing is that people who are legit good song writers DON'T WRITE LIKE THIS!!! They can write gut punching songs but in the name of commercialism they do the same canned crap and I'm tired of it. THANK YOU LUCY MOSS AND TOBY MARLOW for being real in composing this! THANK YOU NATALIE PARIS for delivering it with raw emotion every time!
When it comes to studio recordings singers have to sound perfect which results in emotion being lost and since this song is such a ballad that relies on emotion to pull off of course live is better
Man this song fucks me up... in the best possible way. Even though it doesn’t entirely apply lyrically, I can’t help of think of my dad who passed two years back. Not only are there direct lines that make me think this, he adored voices like Natalie’s, he’d be raving about this if I showed it to him.
I was lucky enough to hear her sing live. Actually, I had the luck to hear the full cast live on April the 7th, 2019. They had to rush to the Royal Albert Hall right after that matinée, though, so I did not get the chance to meet them at the stage door. =:-/
Stunning. I’m such a huge fan of Natalie’s voice. The placement in this performance is perfection. I can think of at least 6 other shows I would cast her in as well! #isuddendlyseymour
Why tf am I crying? I saw six live and was sobbing. She is so powerful, to the point of making me laugh 1 minute and cry the next. This angel has made me cry so many tears, wether they be happy, like when I met her (I was crying and laughing for the whole 4 hour train home- it was 1 in the morning) or sad, the way this song makes me. It hits close to home because someone I love died when I was only five, and all I can remember is that I love them (cancers a bitch) I’m getting proper deep now but my point is, Natalie got me out of a dark place in my life and without her and the salon, i might not have been here today, so thank you Natalie. I love you 💕👑 (by far my fave queen) 👑💕

Yes, it’s in the show key which is slightly lower than the soundtrack key. I think it’s to make it slightly easier on the vocal cords to sing every night but I’m not sure...

Is this in a different key to the one on the soundtrack? Definitely sounds lower!
FloralHybrid I’ve been trying to figure that out, sometimes it sounds lower and other times it doesn’t to me.
Yes, it’s in the show key which is slightly lower than the soundtrack key. I think it’s to make it slightly easier on the vocal cords to sing every night but I’m not sure...
It’s just half a step lower, so the high note is a C#6 rather than a D6
Perhaps she was just saving her voice so that she could go all-out in the actual performance???
Dr Coconut Maybe - Although to change the key of a song would be quite confusing, it’d be like changing the blocking to make it easier??
