As a former Marching Hornet myself, I am glad to see that the band is still going strong b/c not many children participate in the band or school music programs nowadays. Back in 1990-1991 when I was at ASU the Stingettes were a lot better tho, they put more heart into their performances and they had better uniforms.
I think this performance was pretty good. I don't see the reason why everyone is attacking it except for the fact that maybe the band was all black men with instruments & not guns or the girls was an example of dark skinned & some full figured than the typical blonde or light-skinned standard of beauty pushed within the mainstream media today. The negative comments here truly reveal that USA still have a problem with race coming from the white side of the fence & some blacks that have allowed their minds to be massaged and manipulated by the mainstream media.

It is a "Black School".... The way the dancers dance and what they wear is a tradition. Other HBCU's bands do the same thing such as Morgan State,VSU,Howard and etc. Yall apparently don't know much about historically black schools because yall would of notice that they all do the same thing. Go Look at VSU Band. U will see that the dancers still dance the same Nd barely have on clothes as well. So its not just ASU . ITS JUST AN HBCU THING period

I went to college, and didn't feel a need to get into bullshit marching bands and cheerleaders. Okay, cheerleaders are great when they're good looking, I just found few of the above women attractive but that's MY tastes. College should have a minimum of bullshit diversion and a maximum of studies and making connections, be it Black or non-Black.
The graduation rate at ASU is 25%. The graduation rate at the University of Alabama is 66%. This college should be reopened as an all purpose non-racial university and the kids of Alabama given the choice their parents desire for K-12.
I would be pretty disappointed if this is what my kid did at college. A considerable amount of time and effort went into this. Time and effort that should have been spent gaining useful knowledge.

I will admit that this uniform is to revealing, but the Stingette sponsor who chose this uniform was let go. 9/10 the Stingettes uniforms are the most stylish in the SWAC. It is amazing to me that the classy , amazing uniform that the Stingettes wore entering this same game didn't get one mention on the other video for this game. It just goes to show that people like to magnify your mistakes and down play your greatness. SMH. The Stingettes are still #1 in my book!

The Stingettes in particular have been serving flawlessly at the Magic City Classic for a very long time but you'd rarely see affiliates and/or fans of other troupes, bands, or organizations comment on that. I hear you Tiara but it was hard to cover the flags with only a two man crew. The flags were shown in the top view but since most SWAC bands don't do slow songs, the flags were never brought near the front for a feature. But we will keep this in mind for future filming. Thanks.
I'm a ASU Stingette fan. I love the intro number they did before their performance and the dramatics. But these uniforms are risqué, I know they have a lot of younger girls looking up to them so they should scale back. Hopefully they don't go back into them.
The only thing wrong was the Majorettes dancing (stunts were off, timing was wrong, and some girls weren't flexible enough for some off the stuff they were doing.) That and the outfits. they could have did some shorts instead of lingerie .
The stingetts did a wonderful job. You guys, this is an hbcu and this is 2013. Things are changing.... Hell I'm giving them props and I don't even attend asu, I'm at another swac school.

it just so happens I am a white band director, and music teacher, in a predominately Black and Hispanic urban school district. After watching the artsy smartsy, high brow, boring crap for so many years, I proclaim, the African American community may have the answer for retrieving crowd support at ball games, etc. Folks lets be honest, that hideous excuse for shows done by BOA has got to go ! . Plus so many college band shows are so damn boring. . . . now, as far as this band, lets work on cleaning up the sound. Work for more blend, rather than trying to blow all your vital organs out. Keep that big ballsy sound but don't let it get distorted. . . . Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact you want to get the crowd back into the show. If truth be known, this style may just save our marching bands ! Realistically this should be a catalyst for motivating instrumental music in the urban schools. God knows they are suffering ! ! ! People should also respect the African Community for its contributions to the jazz idiom ! How many famous Black Jazz Musicians can you name ? ? chances are serious musicians could rattle off a bunch of names in a few minutes and only get half of them or less.

it just so happens I am a white band director, and music teacher, in a predominately Black and Hispanic urban school district. After watching the artsy smartsy, high brow, boring crap for so many years, I proclaim, the African American community may have the answer for retrieving crowd support at ball games, etc. Folks lets be honest, that hideous excuse for shows done by BOA has got to go ! . Plus so many college band shows are so damn boring. . . . now, as far as this band, lets work on cleaning up the sound. Work for more blend, rather than trying to blow all your vital organs out. Keep that big ballsy sound but don't let it get distorted. . . . Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the fact you want to get the crowd back into the show. If truth be known, this style may just save our marching bands ! Realistically this should be a catalyst for motivating instrumental music in the urban schools. God knows they are suffering ! ! ! People should also respect the African Community for its contributions to the jazz idiom ! How many famous Black Jazz Musicians can you name ? ? chances are serious musicians could rattle off a bunch of names in a few minutes and only get half of them or less.
