Honest and clear comparison. One big advantage with GS would be tubeless tyres. Himalayan punctures make your life hell and keep you in constant worry on your trips.
I dont know how many of you are aware about the role of tyre sizes in off road bikes. I have been riding an enduro for quite a while now, same bike , in both dirt and mortard versions. Dirt version means, 21inches front and 19 inches rear tyre rim diameter while motard means 17inches for both. With same bike, these two versions feel like totally different from one another. While motard is for city riding, it can also do dirt but again, the dirt version feels so effortless. It just glides over the off road absorbing major road jags easily while its bit bouncy for the motard. What i wanted to spill here is that ,no matter how good other bikes are built for off road, himalayan will always feel better suited cause of its one massive advantage that is its tyre size combo. Plus it is built for off roads, has spoked wheels too obviously. Put 21, 19 combo on bmw or 390adv, with spokes a d its gonna be another story altogether.
Himalayan is the right choice for beginners and later if they need they can upgrade. Practicality considering if you live in smaller towns Himalayan is the best choice !! Service network. Also you need to consider small repairs to the bike. Himalayan can be fixed by any local mechanic but not GS. If you live in metro then you can consider GS. Himalayan top speed or riding at 100 is perfectly right for Indian national or state highways. I feel it all depends on personal preference at the end.
That was an honest review... Re himalayan is best offroading bike below tiger 800, but when compared to gs310, it's very crude in all aspects.👍 And if I am right, bs6 apache rr 310 has same engine as gs310, but with better low end torque. 😎

Also even when idling on a signal the engine RPM even with my hands off from the accelerator was going up and down in a loop.
