- In this video I will make a bread knife out of a saw blade. The handle is made from box elder burl (stabilized) and epoxy resin with brass handle pins and logo pin. The logo pin was made possible by my friend Scott who printed the tiny DK logo inserts on his UV resin printer. Please leave a comment and like the video if you enjoyed it. It really helps! Please also consider subscribing. kthx bye.

Wow i was surprised when you hand filed the grooves in. Nice knife good luck
Thank you bro. I appreciate it 🙏
The video is 1 year old. And it’s brilliant!
Thanks bro
Holy serrations, Batman! Nice job 👍 I need to find me a saw blade.
They were fun to file and didn't take that long! Maybe half an hour. Not bad considering I spent an hour or 2 deciding whether I should measure and mark everything or just wing it and see what happens. As you can see I went for the latter. LOL
Great video, awesome skills, very funny parts, stroking the knife and making the sandwich killed me. LMAO!!!!!! Why a bread knife? IDK !!!! Love it! Thank you.
Haha glad you liked it! Thanks for watching 👊
Man! That knife is gorgeous .
Thank you Peter! 🙌 I really appreciate when someone leaves a comment!!
@@DaveMakesKnives Yeah man! You deserve it. My son and I have just started making knives. We are having a blast. 👍
@@PickinPins That makes me happy to hear that. I am trying to get my son interested to make a knife and he is slowly getting there. I wish you guys the best of luck! Please don't hesitate to reach out if I can offer any advice although I have to be honest I am still a learner myself!
@@DaveMakesKnives I will definitely stay in touch Dave! I just subbed 😀
👊
I laughed when you measured your roast beef. Enjoyed the video. You could win forged in fire, your that good.
😁
wowwwww.. great job! The detail in the handle is awesome!! I love those resin handles
you're an artist Dave, great work! I love watching your videos, so relaxing and enjoyable to watch. So cool to see how it's made.
Thanks Jon! I appreciate it brother!!
Can you please help me here Dave? A very interesting video indeed. 👍
I saw that you put (then 2-part expoxy glued), what looked like white card, to the burl/resin pieces in the early part of the video. But this can't be right because you left the 'white card' on in the final finish. Perhaps it was some other material (and i missed it on the video) and it was fabricated this way because the epoxy glue wouldn't take directly between the metal tang(?) and the wood/resin handle pieces? Now I'm just guessing.
I'm interested because as a small woodcraft hobbyist one of my friends had asked me to make a wooden handle for a knife he has. Something I've never undertaken before: so I watched your video with great enthusiasm, and I don't want to screw this up !
Thank you for the comment 🙂 Are you talking about this part at 6:45 ? That white material is called G10 and is used as a decorative liner in the knife handle. It is optional and you do not need that to glue your handle scales to the tang. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching 👊ps- I ordered the 1mm G10 on eBay
Bebe cool
Beautiful knife. Never seen anyone weigh out mayonnaise or honey mustard before…little OCD maybe? Darlington, South Carolina USA
Or perhaps it was a joke. Try not to take things so seriously...
When u do the scales off the knife do u ever sand to much and have to GRind on the knife to fix I have always been scared to do it That way cause i feel i i would always sand to much on one and it would end play cat and mouse with it
Thanks for watching! I'm not sure I understand your question though
