It’s been my experience that once they figure out what they think it’s basically that he does a woman so well that they ARE attracted, but knowing he’s a man is a turn off so it turns into a bit of a paradox. The best way I ever heard a completely hetero guy describe it was “Rhianna-Tom (I have to describe him this way because it’s the only way it works in my head) is sexy, hot, and yes, watching him, her, whatever DOES turn me on a bit. The moment it’s just Tom again, all that’s gone. It’s like he can transform into a completely different pers…. Okay I’m an idiot. He’s an actor. Of course he can. I guess I just didn’t realize he was SO good he could out-Rhianna the actual Rhianna. I mean if you just pay attention to the dancing, I’m sorry but Rhianna-Tom is just WAY more sexy”.
So yeah, basically once he found a way to separate it and make it work in his head, he was fine speaking his truth.
I heard the term “Beautifully Handsome” to describe him in this performance and I think it’s perfect. The moves, costume, and muscles are like the perfect swirl of sexy androgyny. I don’t see why anyone WOULDN’T find him attractive in this dance. He’s “got all the right junk in all the right places” for everyone. Besides, is artwork supposed to appeal to only men or women? This isn’t really any different, dancing, singing, and acting are called “performance arts” for a reason.

Yeah. This clip is from the show Lip Sync Battle. It’s hosted by LL and Chrissy Tiegen. LL wasn’t looking at Tom like he was crazy, he was amazed by the performance. Celebrities frequently perform in drag on Lip Sync Battle. And they generally put a lot of effort into the performances. But this one between Zendaya and Tom was AMAZING. The Rock has a really good episode too. And Terry Crewes. It’s such a fun show precisely because everyone goes so hard for it.
Facts! LL’s jaw drop was definitely an “omg how is he pulling this off?” Rather than “omg this guy’s nuts”. I personally think he might have had LL a tiny bit sexually confused for just a couple seconds or minutes because Tom Holland definitely embodied “Beautifully Handsome”. The clothes show off his muscles even though they’re typically women’s clothes, the makeup is terrible, but still managed to draw attention to his feminine AND masculine facial features, he was dancing in a way only people with training and raw talent can with feminine movements but also throwing in a lot of moves that he made LOOK as easy as walking but required far more muscular strength than most female dancers have.
Ever since I first saw him brought in for Avengers I told my friend watching it with me “THAT’S supposed to be Spider-Man? I’m sorry, I just can’t. That’s NOT Spider-Man, that’s Spider-Tween.” and that’s what I’ve called him ever since. However, this video DID alter my viewpoint of him but it was for the better. When he’s playing Spider-Man he still reverts to Spider-Tween in my head, but after seeing this performance at least I knew he has more depth AS AN ACTOR at his age than most actors 3x his age do. (I tend to point those things out because I don’t know him or what he’s like irl, very few people outside his friends, family, and some co-workers ever will no matter how many interviews are done or what the media likes to say/print about ANYONE famous. Honestly that’s how it should be, they are real people with real feelings and a real right to privacy that they should NOT have to give up just because they love entertaining people and people are nosy mfs. There’s not an argument good enough for invading someone’s privacy just because they happened to become famous entertainers of some kind. (That’s why I don’t watch interviews or read any stories done, especially stuff about scandals or divorces or whatever, it’s just not my business and has NOTHING to do with what I like or dislike about them)). I hadn’t seen him in anything BEFORE the Avengers like Chaos Walking or the musical turned into a movie he was in as a kid where he wanted to learn dancing instead of boxing (can’t remember the name right this second), so yeah, I was REALLY surprised he had it in him to be more than Spider-Tween.
God I love this performance. I remember watching it when it first aired. The 2 guys who took the show to the next level was Channing Tatum and Tom Holland. Great stuff
I wasn’t a huge fan of Channing actually. He did comedy, which is fine, but if a guy is ONLY going to dress in drag for comedy purposes it just encourages people to laugh at anyone dressed in drag and I didn’t appreciate the precedent he set.
It was Mrs. Tatum who stole that show.

Since you're checking out Lip Sync Battle (LSB), check out Tatum vs Tatum, when Channing was still married to Jenna. Once again, both trained dancers who left a lot of folks with their jaws on the floor (those who had never seen them in their dance movies, anyway)
Oh I hope Cliff does those two.. Julianne & Derek Hough's episode was great as well. Joseph Gordon Levitt was incredible as well.

Actually he said he WENT INTO it wanting to have fun. Then Zendaya and he exchanged friendly taunts and they’re both overly competitive. After that he went on stage to win lol. But no, he wasn’t making a statement.
He WAS happily surprised at all the “thank you” messages he got from boys and parents for making more okay for boys to dress how they wanted to. An actor playing a very very male comic book character makes a bigger statement than someone like Channing Tatum repeatedly making a laughingstock out of it.
This makes Spiderman even better! 😂

the man has serious moves sir.. and I love him for this. My parents met on stage in a show in the west end. My dad was one of the most manly men, but he rocked tights and make up & had a gorgeous singing voice… I’m here for men performing in tights! Lol.
He performs in tights as Spider-Man as well. Which he himself pointed out, he just said that fishnets didn’t make him sweat as much.

He DID say it was his one regret about his performance because it would have completed the authenticity he was going for, but when LSB called his agent for the “go ahead” Tom didn’t get it due to already asking for the pool of water. They were concerned about injury risk being too high with heels AND dancing in water (which I thought was a bit silly considering he does almost all his own stunts).
Besides, when walking/dancing in heels the trick is not to go fancy, just a single strap over the top of the foot, and walk/dance on your toes. Never try to put weight on your heel. You always practice your routine barefoot on your toes and if your heel hits the floor you do it again.

This was THE most amazing lip sync battle ever! This was a battle between Zendaya and Tom. She killed hers, but Tom took it to the next level.
Zendaya is a dancer, so she was serious about winning this battle. The contestants aren't supposed to know what performance the other one is going to do.
She leaned in hard with her Bruno Mars performance, but Tom went harder and just knock it out the park.
One of the best episodes of the show.
The other best one is Channing Tatum and his, now, ex wife Jenna Dewan.
She actually did his magic mike performance justice. He was gobsmacked and shocked at how on point she was.
I won't spoil what he did to try and beat that, but it's definitely a great episode.

How can Spider-Man be ruined now that you know he’s about 1000x more awesome than you ever knew? And latex is latex, whether it’s a corset (wasn’t leather & he didn’t have high heels so I’m not sure what you thought you saw there, but he WANTED to wear them it was vetoed by Marvel because of safety reasons when already dancing in a slippery pool of water) or a red and blue spidey suit. Afterwards LL asked him how he felt about wearing the outfit and that’s basically what he said- except that the fishnets allowed a lot more airflow so he wasn’t just drenched in sweat like he was inside the latex spidey suit.
This is actually my happy video. If I’m having a rough day it’s NEVER failed to make me smile. It’s JUST SO GOOD and it makes me SO happy that he wasn’t just another guy without the balls to do drag for real so came out in a dress looking like an idiot for the comedy factor. He OWNED that stage, it no longer belonged to LL or Lip Sync Battle or even Comedy Central- that was the Tom Holland Stage & Auditorium as soon as he brought his A game. IMO everyone has been walking on his stage ever since, yet failing to own it quite as much, an opinion shared by popular vote apparently as it’s still been voted #1 performance ever done on the show- and they even had Pentatonix on there but you don’t hear anyone telling you that you need to see theirs.
They get 1 week to pick the song and plan choreography (with the help of a team and have a backup song ready in case the artist doesn’t give permission to use it when they ask), and only 2 3hr rehearsals done however they want (on stage, full dress rehearsal whatever).
Tom DID ask his choreographer if he could work with her or anyone that had a little extra time for just an hour, 2 tops after the 2nd rehearsal was over. When she asked what the time was for (to figure out if it could be done), he said he knew he wasn’t moving properly for the dance and he wanted to do it RIGHT. He said a man trying to walk sexy vs a woman just moves differently, the same for trying to do a body roll, hip swing etc. Given how fast he learned the choreography being professionally trained, she was actually kinda thrilled that he wanted to make sure all the details were correct and it wouldn’t be a huge time investment, so she worked with him for about 1.5hrs (I think she said) so he could do the same choreography, but moving his body more like a woman would than a man. Obviously some ways of moving aren’t possible because we’re built differently but he worked around that SO beautifully.
Now this is a man secure in his gender n sexuality. I'm glad he took the time to learn more and try something new. He was amazing for this performance.

I find it interesting that we assigned gender not only to humans and to clothes, but also to dance moves. Tom wears the clothes and the moves perfectly in my opinion.
The dance moves I understand better than the clothes. Women are built differently than men and certain dance moves will look different when done by a woman vs. a man because of that. Tom asked his choreographer for an extra hour to help him with that exact thing actually- moving like a woman would FOR the number.
Assigning gender to clothes is dumb. I think it’s probably one of the VERY few things women have more power/rights over than men. We can wear (or not wear) pretty much whatever we want for clothes or makeup. No one says anything if we do or don’t wear makeup, or a corset, or a skirt, or pants, or sneakers vs heels. Men have very limited choices. However, in the words of Eddie Izzard “everyone just assumes that if a bloke is wearing a dress he must be gay, but noooo. Not true. Sometimes, just like most people, we wake up some days and just want to look gorgeous, so it’s more of a ‘running, jumping, climbing trees, check lipstick, keeping playing. It’s like G.I. Joe, but with better face paint.”
