    You gave great advice. I was wondering if the German accent had a particular appeal to you?
    I met a German traveler and his recommendation was to learn the German accent from Hamburg, for clear and distinction. Then I found out, it was Plattdeutsch, which is Low German. It is easier for English speakers to learn, but is not standard German learned in school or commercially available German programs in stores.

    • @MoreYinThanYang
      @MoreYinThanYang  3 роки тому +2

      Honestly I think I like Hochdeutsch the most. Even for British accents I personally find that “BBC English” sounds the best.
      But yeah before I got somewhat fluent in German I really loved how the language in general sounds. Now I don’t hear the language anymore because I understand too much of the content

    • @alanguages
      @alanguages 3 роки тому

      @@MoreYinThanYang High German is considered the most standard form and has more commercially available programs. Would you have a recommendation which city has the most revered accent for High German?

      @@MoreYinThanYang I researched it, and found the city of Hanover is considered the closest thing to standard German. It looks like if I go to Germany, that is the city I will be going to. At least the commercial programs I use will help more, than struggle with the accent.

    hi! I'm 18 years old and I really want to learn german.
    but since I will start my University in the end of this year (2021), and will have a 1 year gap to do nothing, I wonder if it's worth it doing it now or after I finish, because I really don't want to interrupt my University study's once I start. my fear is going to the country and not finding language students my age or being too young

      @@MoreYinThanYang yes!! for a language exchange. I think you are right, I will try to get to a decent level of german before going. I just really wanted to do it before I started my University, because if I want to stay away 1 month or more during it I will have to postpone the next semester of the University (that is six months) like a "locking" (that's what they call it here) and after that get back and be a semester late in comparison to the other students which I really didn't wanted to. but at the same time I fell like I won't be able to enjoy the exchange experience as much for been too young

      I didn't liked it because the teacher was too slow, like you mentioned. For me it was a waste of time. I took the placement test and I still needed things to brush up ( Basic rammar ) but my teacher was like, keep coming to the class and you will do well. I ended up stop going and started learning at home, pandemic started and there was no more classes either. I am taking my B1 next month and I am pretty sure I will pass, since it's not that difficult in my opinion.
      TestDaf is like IELTS, If someone is familiar with IELTS structure and passed the exam with an average score of 7, that's like passing score for TestDaf. I know my German is nowhere to the level of my English. I want to keep learning and eventually I hope to reach B2 or C1 even tho I don't need it.
