The British Army used to send new army surgeons to Glasgow hospitals to train them for battlefields because they had so many stabbing and slashings. So may people getting chibbed up.
Got to meet him at a comic con once. He was a very kind person. They were charging $85 for a picture with him, and when I said that I could not afford that because I was a single mom working at Pizza hut, he immediately stood up, walked over to me, and allowed me to take a picture with my cell phone for free. If I could, I would post the picture.
He's a fooking inspiration. I personally have huge scars on my arm when i was "done" as he says, then got into acting, while ive never had his success, he definitely gave me the inspiration to keep going with what you love.
@@jeffcordova9633 Definitely! i admire the man greatly not just for his acting ability, but for his resilience. I get embarrassed by my own scars along my arm, (from serious elf harm) fully permanent. Unfortunately i don't have a cool story like tommy...so to speak. However he looks and sounds the part, and got his break, despite everything. I wish for my confidence and break to happen too. We should make physical deformities be embraced on the big screen.
Remember at one point Glasgow had the highest murder rate in the whole of Western Europe. Never mind the U.K. it had the most brutal, highest rate of stabbings in Europe. Yes Glasgow could be a brutal place too live..
Damn would’ve never guessed or probably known that. Been stabbed once clipped the top of the right lung 2 surgeries later safe to say I’ve felt enough steel inside my chest for a life time lol always thought to myself I’d probably rather get shot than stabbed again but it’s even a hell of a thing to contemplate smh
I've been both shot and stabbed in my life (not at the same time) and stabbing definitely hurts more than you expect. Maybe because the blade is actually bigger than a bullet but you feel it for days.
Scotsman can be crazy as hell. I was working in Scotland back in 1998 and thre was kk weekend without a fight in a bar. We used to go with boys foe a few pints and ended up fighting sometimes. Once I ended up in hispital with some guy , we fought and gave each other other some scars I carry till today. Well, we shaked hands and had a pint later. I had to meet management same week, but was canceled, my face )))
He remembered the pain of the knife going in. note to podcaster, at this point you could have said, "inside of you™" and then looked at the camera and begin the music for the show
Hence the reason he got the nickname chibs in s/o/a in Glasgow its slag for stabing. A we phase is normally used.... "heer mate ......yur getn chib'd". Give it your best shot in a Scottish accent. Much love to ya tommy boy 🏴
Usually means slashed more than stabbed, it's also slang for a weapon usually a knife or bottle' if you have something blunt like a bat it's called a cosh. Glasgow gets a bad name for violence and there is some right shiteholes same as any other city but I wouldnt want to stay anywhere else in Scotland. Like the saying says " People make Glasgow " you can have a laugh with people here and let's face it where else in the world can you rely on members of the public to kick the living shit out of suicide bombers who are on fire trying to set off a bomb in a crowded airport 🤣🤣🤣
I've been stabbed 6 sliced 2 ( I know). People think it's like John Wick, someone stabs you, and you're up dancing around a minute later? When you get stabbed, you ain't doing shit 💯
I, thankfully, haven’t been through that but I’ve witnessed it happening a few times and it’s absolutely terrifying! I just about kept the two alive for the ambulance to take over for me. I live in Northern Ireland and a place I lived in was crazy. Unfortunately, my 12 year old twins at the time witnessed “adults” get off their heads and slice themselves up. One in particular took a blade to his own throat.
I also have a Chelsea smile.. weirdly it was inflicted by the same situation.. I have ptsd to this day from it.. I would consider myself a friendly guy.. the two worst parts about it.. is not that you see it everyday.. but if you speak about it.. if feels like they win and 9/10 people judge you before you ever say a word
Glaswegian knife crime was slashed by treating it as a disease of poverty. Not as crime and punishment Progressive countries have less violence than rightwing countries!
BIG FAN OF TOMMY FLANAGAN-! Would love to work with him on something ... as he and his characters are river of life's ups and downs and ultimately, a bit of the wisdom we are lucky enough to earn. D.A. (filmmaker)
Cops have a saying about knife fights. The loser dies at the scene, the winner dies later at the hospital. NOTE: This is why the new scream movie was so bad. 2/4 "core four" got stabbed. Bad. The dude got stabbed like thirty times. His sister got it in the gut with a twist but was up and running around fifteen minutes later.
I was today years old finding out that buck 50 was real, I thought it was just for the All About The Benjamin's film to make his character seem even more badass
I loved this guy as chibs in sons of anarchy its one of my all time favourite shows.

That’s both hilarious and tragic to hear.
Aye been up the Victoria hospital in Glasgow a few times, getting stitched up.. Its no fun shall I say
Chibbed. Got that one 😜
They do the same in the US military, every SF medic has to do a year at one of the 3 hospitals in the US with the highest gun violence victims

Always thought stabbing must be more painful given its slower and the knife must do more damage on its way out aswell
just days?
doubt it.
I’ve been shot in the head& my mate stabbed me up the nose with a pen knife,I’d rather have been shot….again
More nerve damage. Horrible.
