Thank you, easy to follow and understand. The metro system is basically the same as thr London underground. Nowadays people use their debit card to scan in on the bus, trains but you can buy the pass for £5 and then top it up as needed. We are planning to go the Istanbul, so this will differently come in handy to know and use. Thanks👍
Went to Istanbul last year, didn’t do any research on the public transit. And yet, it was fairly intuitive. Very smart, modern city. I’d happily go back anytime.
When I was in Istanbul ❤ in February 2024, the card limit was ~1750 Turkish lira. The yellow terminal also printed a receipt with information about the remaining card limit.
Between the metro, metro buses, and whatever other forms transport are covered by this card, can you get around the whole city? If I buy this one card while I stay 4-5 days in Istanbul, will 200-300 lira suffice? Also, how did you get from the Airport to the city center?
We are in turkey currently in Beyoğlu area, can you pls tell me where I can buy it from? And can you give me guide how to tell which transport to take and where to and from etc
Impressive, you have explained the card-attainment process very clearly in a very simple way. Would you please share your experience about hotels, I mean how can tourists book reasonable family-friendly hotels at a cheap rate?
Hi. Love your content! Is it possible to do a metro guide? Within the actual metro stations or tram lines because I have been to Istanbul but what I noticed is the directions of which way the tram or metro is going can be confusing. Thanks :)

@IstanbulHacks oh sorry, I mean 1 note..we called it bill though 😅 Let's say I want to top up 20, 50 and 100 notes. Because most of the videos I watched they only showed topping up with only 1 note
I see that in order to use the card and go through the turnstiles we place the card on the reader and then pass through, but only one person is allowed. Do we then hand the card to my companion over the turnstile to allow her to enter?
Here's a warning about Istanbul public transportation card. Some people hang around the machines and claim to assist you. They will convince you to use a credit card to buy a public transportation card. They quickly go through the menu and you bought a card loaded with 500 lira but the helper gives you a blank card. He then tells you that your new card needs to be loaded in order to be able to use it. You only find out you've been scammed once you check your credit card balance. Don't trust the "helpers" at the Istanbul public transportation card dispensing machines!!
Update: It appears that the 500tl limit has now been lifted
