All this rule could have been avoided. Had Indians with fake resume didn't clog the system and majority of the H1b going to service companies. Only best and the brightest deserve working in any developed nation.

I estimated the new prevailing wages for NYC/SF/SEA using z-scores and the new %-iles.
    For NYC: (I II III IV) = (116,003 137,323 160,321 203,405)
    For SF: (I II III IV) = (138,283 162,157 187,910 236,155)
    For SEA: (I II III IV) = (128,082 148,708 170,957 212,639)
And remember, this is just base salary. The calculations for prevailing wages doesn't include bonuses or stock options. So your base salary should be this.

My view is that increasing wages is fine as long as it is the same rule for all for American and non American workers on the same salary so that some employers don’t exploit the H1b system for hiring employees from abroad like we saw few years ago . Also students whether Indian/ Non Indian completing their masters degree from US should also be given equal opportunity along with American workers and H1b visa holders .The credibility Of H1b system should remain positive so that all are benefitted .

People who will get affected most are the employees of service based companies like TCS cognizant etc who are waiting for an on-site opportunity in US.
    It's end for them.
Also i think it's time to leave american dream because these mf treat workers like criminals. Are we supposed to undergo such scrutiny? We are just normal human being not any criminals.
It's time to develop our cities like Bangalore, Gurgaon and Hyderabad.
Live in india, earn less but live with pride.
Earlier H1B life was tough but now even for getting it,you will have to go through such humiliation.

70% of h1b are exploited by this companies and yes this happening bcoz of the misuse of h1b
and doesn’t matter what if guy is on h1b or opt one has to comeback after 4-6 years until then majority of employees make handful amount of savings

Plenty of opportunities, high pay ( compared to the home countries ) , good lifestyle and many more things can make anyone feel like living that dream. USA is a country of immigrants, they should be more than welcoming. It is a wise decision to make more jobs available for locals in this pandemic time but that shouldn’t be applied for a longer duration.

Yes, this rule has actually been implemented in the past. I’ve had couple of my friends whose H1-B was approved for 3 months in some cases. On site visits for same was also seen. This depends on multiple factors here. WO duration, possibility of extensions, etc. New rule will basically strictly enforce it.

Will this affect doctors? I'm on F1 visa at a US medical school. I don't think residency programs can pay resident physicians differently. Thanks!
